well let me tell you the Bs ref at villa today was a disgrace..calls a penalty for handball.....blows his whistle , then goes to ask his linesman if he saw it..then guess what........goalkick...and the tackle at the start of the second half on our comets sweeper, even the villa coach had a go at him to why it wasnt a free kick......Kitchimo wrote:Saturday Div 2

I thought it was a tough game for Saints today and they battled out the result they needed. It wasn't pretty, but those results are what you need to grind out to win championships. Uni might feel hard done by with the result, but like when we played them in the cup they whinge a lot. Bit of advice to Uni is to try and get the ref on your side. All you did all day was complain about the decisions and it may have worked against you.
All in all a good solid win for the league leaders.
Yes you are rigth you need to thank the Ref! First penalty goal

The message I received said FC Adelaide, but I knew they had a bye so I thought the sender had messed up his ethnically Greek teams. Re: SATURDAY LEAGUE RESULTS - 2009/07/18
Two excellent games at 'the Bridge' today and I am not just saying that because the results went our way.
B Grade -
Iggies took an early lead thansk to a very dubious penalty which set the standard for the rest of the game as far as the ref was concerned. A couple of very strange decisions and a couple of sendings off spoiled what was a hard fought game played in a good spirit. A bit of niggle once the players started getting sent off but we came back from one nil down at half time to score 3.. One a 25 yard shot, the second a good team goal finished well by our forward and the third a superb free kick again from about 25yds. Both keepers performed superbly and the iggies keeper stood no chance with any of the goals (killed me to see us score past a keeper in an england shirt!) I honeslty dont believe the ref's decisions affected the outcome although you can never say.. I think 3 points was a fair outcome based on chances created and overall performance. A game full of opportunities in which we hit the crossbar twice and Iggies at least one, the game had it all..The Iggies players were gracious in defeat which is a credit to them and to the club they represent..
A Grade
We came out of the blocks well like we did agasint puma's last week and went two nil up early. The socres then went 2-1, 3-1, 3-2, 4-2, 4-3. Iggies never stopped fighting and came back well after each goal but we just refused to buckle and it could have finished 5-3 had I not missed a sitter in the last 5 mins - although I played 90 mins reserves then 30 mins A grade so tired legs at age 38 is an acceptable excuse (It's the only one I have!)
Another sending off in the A Grade left the away team struggling to match the pace in the Murray Bridge team who made the most of the fact the game was played at a high pace which didnt suit the more 'experienced' and 'robust' iggies players.

Only issue with that is that it was 1-1 when the first sending off happened, and 2-1 with the second. Neither were red cards!Flud wrote:I honeslty dont believe the ref's decisions affected the outcome although you can never say.. In terms of chances, it took some outstanding goals to beat us but we hit the bar and one cleared off the line as well. I know this sounds weird to say, but apart from your goals, I don't think you looked like scoring.
As for the pen in the B's, it hit the guys arm but I thought ball to hand and wouldn't have given it.

I was running the line for uni there this year. And I flagged the ball out against my own team, the murray bridge ref played the "advantage" as the ball went back to the keeper. There is no advantage if the ball is out of play.

The ref did make some interesting decisions today, but when do they get all of them right?? When your guys are whinging all first half, and even after the first half whistle was blown, then you aren't going to be on the right side of the ref. Its only common sense. Its not right, but true.BillyBob wrote:Ref made bad decisions today. Handball penalty for arms and hands being in at the body and not being moved (same thing happend at the other end but was waved away). Two yellow cards to uni's right back for tackles from behind where he took all the ball cleanly before any neglible contact was made with the attacker. At 2-1 down uni's equaliser not allowed, cos a defender bumped his own keeper. Uni definitely hard done by.East Boy wrote:Saints 3 - Uni 1

East Boy, in the second half barely a word was said to the ref to be honest, anything that was said was mostly by me in a calm manner after the ref had blown the whistle.
The pen was there. If your hand/arm makes contact with the ball in the box, it is usually going to be trouble. Who knows where it could have ended up if his hands weren't there?? It happened to saints striker, and he got yellow carded. Cant say i remember it happening in saints box though?
Again with the defender and his sending off. Any tackle from behind where you make contact with the opposition you are asking for trouble. Some times you have to use your head and keep your feet when your on a yellow card. Unfortunately most strikers will make the most of any contact from behind. I thought the defender was treading on thin ice TBH.
The keeper incident was very fortunate for saints. It was an incorrect decision in my opinion.
Like i said earlier, you might feel hard done by, but thats football.

So what was wrong with the match balls? The league's requirement this season is that Reebok be used. I've seen this brand used at every match this season including those at University.

Doesnt matter as I agree with him, the Bridge ref booked our keeper for saying to one of our defenders "F**king mark number 11"
I didnt know it was a bookable offence to swear at a teammate in a non-offensive manner?

Technically it's a red card for foul and abusive language but you rarely see them given. Let me guess, he said nothing to his own team for doing the same.acu_falcon wrote:Anybody gonna have a crack at Chelsea4thewin for bagging club referees like what happened to me a few weeks ago?Chelsea4thewin wrote:yep murray bridge club referee is an absolute joke
