Match summary: PHW made a mistake in the 10th minute, we scored. PHW made another mistake in the 15th minute, we scored again. Then we defended.
PHW apparently had 4 regulars out. We had 7 out due to injuries/sickness/suspensions/work! MASSIVE defensive effort by the boys that played today!
man dont sell the boys short....even if PHW had 4 guys out they are still div 1 but with all due respect never lloked like scoring and were absolute rubbish....if their position in div 1 is based on the 4 playeres not playing then they in big trouble from what i saw today.... beograd had half if not more players out and showed some serious heart and character to get over the line even though as you say they defended for most of the second half..... we ( the serbian contingent from MU Lions) thouroughly enjoyed ourselves and i believe the Brama boys did also.... we see you next sat night for the gentlemans night...make sure that disabled car park and seating is ready for me top effort lads
i posted a couple of wks ago that it was the worst i've seen westies play... i was wrong.. no excuses and no reasons but we are in a bad way and in need of a turn around so it could have been half the team out today and dont think the result would have been different, two well taken goals so well in beo did what they had to, heard the c's won with half a fit side and some over 35's to make up numbers to go top... well in boys see what happens when they finally get there full side together!

In my time at Anfield we always said we had the best two teams on Merseyside - Liverpool and Liverpool reserves.

A's V Stirling
Very flat game from our guys are really did enough to win. A few guys missing didn't help but after playing Gardens, Downs and Vale in the last 3 weeks, the guys went into the game without the build up. From what I saw, we never really looked in doubt. We missed a couple of very gettable chances in the first half and finally got one on the board in the second half. Tough game to play in, Stirling went defensive which we thought they would but we struggled to get out of second gear.
B's v Adelaide Villa
Great win by the guys. We were missing at least 3 guys due to injury and illness and had 3 players named who hadn't been able to train all week due to injury and illness. It was that bad even I nearly had a run We had an early chance which we should of scored from and so did Villa. From there it was a dour game. Villa's class certainly showed through with most balls played to feet. Their fitness showed through on the big pitch and steep slope though. An absolute spanker of a goal by us, one of the best I have ever seen at the Farm was scored by Paul and from there we defended hard. Villa were unlucky but our guys dug deep to hold on for the win.

Cheers mate. Not my best effort on the BBQ yesterday but glad you enjoyed it.Kitchimo wrote: Hamburger review (for Jay Walking ):
It compares to the Wolf Burger, the lettuce and the tomato are a nice touch. Our steaks are a bit bigger and eggs aren't rolled over. Definitely filled me up. I was very tempted for a yiros, but I was still tasting it from 3am last night.
I was impressed with the facilities (ie club rooms), I imagine all Sunday Div 1 clubs have a similar setup? Where do you guys train? If you train there then that pitch must take a shellacking.
Our facilities are pretty poor to be honest. Our clubrooms are shared with our change rooms. We have installed the bar and all the extra entertainment features over the last few years. If you want to be impressed, go out to Elizabeth Downs, Vale and Parafield Gardens. They have better set ups than us at the moment. We are working with council to have the facilites improved and hopefully within the next 6-12 months, we will have a brand new facility that is at least twice the size.
Our pitch, yes it gets hammered. Early in the year, we have around 50-60 guys training twice a year. At the moment its around 30-35 or so. We had 5 teams last season but had to drop one due to the pitch. Its also a 6 foot drop from one end to the other.
Thanks for coming to say hello and coming down to watch. It wasn't a big crowd at all yesterday unfortunately.

Jay you can put Fulhams into that category and our change rooms for away teams have to be 1 of the biggest and better set ups - way better than Gardens, Vale and Downs for away teams.Jay Walking wrote:

Fulham do have nice facilities, the spacious change rooms were much appreciated after the shoe box we had to change in the week before!bigpond wrote:Jay you can put Fulhams into that category and our change rooms for away teams have to be 1 of the biggest and better set ups - way better than Gardens, Vale and Downs for away teams.Jay Walking wrote:

Hard luck to Fulham yesterday, certainly had the better of the possesion and I'm sure would be disappointed to have lost. However in saying that neither team really created much, a pretty quiet day for both keepers.
Re: CUP RESULTS - 2009/07/11 & 12
Dropped in and watched the first half on the way down to Fulham. That certainly was a screamer of a goal. Not suprised to hear you were under manned because you certainly didn't look like one of the best reserve sides yesterday.Jay Walking wrote: B's v Adelaide Villa

SPOC 3-1 Downs
A great win by our boys today. Some tough tackles flying in and also some stupid tackles by various downs players. Game was very free flowing with plenty of chances gone begging. Interesting end to the game with 2 Downs and a SPOC player being sent off for some madness... Well done to the Downs for playing some attractive football for a reserves side (plus Benny A in goal)....
we just didnt hit our straps for the game. We did lower ourselves to a lesser standard. We had some late withdraws with work and family commitments, but thats no excuse.
The pitch and ref were shocking! pitch looked great to start with but was so soft underfoot. So far as in Stupid tackles I think theat was both ways. It was just ou guys that got the fee kicks for it. The guy who copped one at in the face pretty much fly kicked ourplayer in the original challege, and yet no card was even given to him. The first penalty was never ever there. We cleared the ball out of defence and your player kicked ours and went down. How he gave that is beyond me, and yet a similar thing happened up the other end for us with no call.
Overall a very scrappy game by us and we did deserve to loose as we were no where near our best. However, I know this get brought up all the time, the ref was shocking, and what was more dissapointing is that we had 3 great refs for the senior game after and 2 of them were running the line! Makes no sence at this stage in the cup.
Best of luck to St Peters!

Getting in with the excuses before kick-off these days now I see.
I'm sure your team mates appreciate your confidence in their abilities...looks like they get better results than the regular starters for the A's. You might find yourself playing B's when you get back from suspension.

Elizabeth Vale 4 - 1 Sturt Marion
(May've been 5-1 )
Missed the first 30mins but from what I saw the Vale boys played really well. Passing was brilliant and the defence was strong. Vale had a man sent off midway through the 2nd half but still managed to put one in the back of the net after that. Sturt Marion never really looked like the found there feet... Great win for the boys!!!

yes it definately was not our best performance out there but you need to take into consideration that it was not exactly villa's standard B side out there either. what i will congratulate the boys on was the way they all put their hands up and seized the day. one of the hardest and most physical contests iv ever been apart of it. very proud to be a farmer on sundayFar King wrote:Jay Walking wrote: B's v Adelaide Villa

Re: CUP RESULTS - 2009/07/11 & 12
seriously. beograd had 6 b grade players start including the coach. they did not warm up dont train and a five minute tactical pep talk was given on how the defenders will follow the big guy up forward so take them left and switch right. it worked twice and then we defended the whole game and still had 3 clear chances in second half.sprogget wrote:From a purely Westies point of view could you please change the subject.wtf
The only difference in Div 1 and Div 3 sides from my perspetive is committment to train.
We train twice a year and you guys train twice a week. having said that there is enough talent to do well in your team. heres a hint atually try play one two wall passes through the middle and use the flanks as a back up. that will change alot of things.
You guys used the flanks everytime and we won every header. our defence was slow so through balls were the go not 50 mtre long balls. you need one technicalplayer in the middle and you would win div 1.
Good luck rest of season. we will drop out next round because all the a's will be back and wont play with 10 behind the ball like us reserves
Ps my head hurts from winning all the headers at centre half.

hope you guys are paying attention to this down at northbri. good solid advice.
Re: CUP RESULTS - 2009/07/11 & 12
You are very right guys and I have retracted my comment.
I am aware of the game you are talking about when our ref was shocking. As we have said before we have dealt with that and that does not happen. It was now about 3 year ago when that happened. But what you need to remember about the weekend game is that it was an officail ref, not a club provided one, and it was the 3rd round in the cup, so you think they could have made a better choice.
As I said I though maybe Steve or the onther linesman we had for the Wanders game would have been far better choices for a main ref, as they were running the line, and both have a great reputaion. It was very dissapointing.
And im not making excuses, I said we played bad, and that St Peters played better and deserved the game, just would have been nice it the game was able to be played in better spirits rather than getting as physical/Dirty as it did, and I put that down to the Ref not getting control early, and setting the standards.
We will still be contesting for the title this year. No doubt about that.

general, it is better you stick to Div 3 football instead of making idiotic comments like this. I have played in Div 3 and I can assure you there is a country mile from Div 1 to Div 3. Ok, you had a lucky game and knocked off a Div 1 side on a bad day, well done but playing Div 1 football is about consistency, not just a one off performances. so lets not get too many steps ahead of yourself, there is still plenty of football left in the cup and majority of them play in Div 1, knock them off, win the cup and you can boast all you like.general wrote:seriously. beograd had 6 b grade players start including the coach. they did not warm up dont train and a five minute tactical pep talk was given on how the defenders will follow the big guy up forward so take them left and switch right. it worked twice and then we defended the whole game and still had 3 clear chances in second half.sprogget wrote:From a purely Westies point of view could you please change the subject.wtf

How do you know they had a bad game? Were you there? PHW had a few EXTREMELY good chances, but as it turns out our keeper stood in the way of them!
To question our 'technical ability' is plain stupid. Around 9 of our first team squad played Feds at some stage. 4 of those have already played Div 1 amateurs. Had these players been able to train 2-3 times a week, they'd still be playing feds for White City. And only then do we start getting into the reserves guys who made a name for themselves in the Super League and/or even NSL and now come out for a fun kick with mates.
Admittedly, consistency is something that we have to work on. Fitness too. But when you have the ability (as most of our players do), training properly twice a week (we'll get around to it ) will fix those two little problems. And that brings us right back to the difference between Div 1 and Div 3 as general already mentioned.
Let just hope we draw Ingle Farm at Frank Mitchell Park in the next round then. I can tell you we won't be the ones who'll be worried - we've already exceeded expectations.

i would've thought that one of the first things you boys would have learnt playing for so many years in federation and dare i say it.. NSL is Humility. clearly not. ofcourse i dont blame you guys at all, if i was in one of the lower divisions and just flooked a big win over a 1st div side i also would be screaming it from the rooftops. enjoy ya win and certainly enjoy div 3 and i can only hope that i have not retired yet when you boys can prove just how consistently awesome yous are in the premier division.500BillionDinarMan wrote:Thanks for your idiotic reply.Shaken not Stirred 2 wrote:general, it is better you stick to Div 3 football instead of making idiotic comments like this. Please remember that I don't speak for the club, and hence when you speak to me it is pointless referring to everyone else in the club. As for humility, why would you think that? Here we go. Another that was there watching the game on the weekend. I guess it's possible to fluke one goal, then fluke another goal, and then fluke not conceding a goal for 75 minutes.kinghenrik wrote:ofcourse i dont blame you guys at all, if i was in one of the lower divisions and just flooked a big win over a 1st div side i also would be screaming it from the rooftops.
Are you having a go at us for being in Div 3? As a 'newly formed' club, we had no choice but to start in Div 5 two years ago. Last year we were in Div 4, this year Div 3. My question to you is, could ANYONE have done any better?kinghenrik wrote:enjoy ya win and certainly enjoy div 3 and i can only hope that i have not retired yet when you boys can prove just how consistently awesome yous are in the premier division.
The current goal is to be playing Div 2 next year. Your club was there 2-3 years ago, remember?

Before this decends into a complete slanging match, let me say a few things.500BillionDinarMan wrote:Please remember that I don't speak for the club, and hence when you speak to me it is pointless referring to everyone else in the club. As for humility, why would you think that? There is a big difference between Div 1 and Div 3 football. Been involved with Ingle Farm back when we were in Div 3, there is only 3 guys who are in our squad now that were back there. Yes fitness is definately a part of it. Have a look at USC Lion. They aren't getting many numbers to training and are bottom. There is more depth needed also. Its rare now in Div 1 to have your first team top and your reserves near the bottom and vice versa.
Now is saying that you guys aren't good players, we haven't seen you to know. We have seen Westies and know that those guys are good players.
Again, your guys might of played in the NSL or Federation, but how long ago. The biggest difference I noticed from Div 2 to Div 1 was the pace of the game. How quickly teams can break and how easy you can be punished from a turnover.
Well done for knocking out Westies though, certainly a big scalp to get and good luck for the rest of the year. Hopefully we do get you guys down there cause I hear the food is decent

Excellent change room Bigpond, best in the league. As for clubrooms, Vale, Downs and Gardens still have you.bigpond wrote:Jay you can put Fulhams into that category and our change rooms for away teams have to be 1 of the biggest and better set ups - way better than Gardens, Vale and Downs for away teams.Jay Walking wrote:
Our facilities are pretty poor to be honest. Our clubrooms are shared with our change rooms. We have installed the bar and all the extra entertainment features over the last few years. If you want to be impressed, go out to Elizabeth Downs, Vale and Parafield Gardens.

Finally a sensible reply, so I'll respond sensibly.Jay Walking wrote:Before this decends into a complete slanging match, let me say a few things.

It is not reasonable to expect, nor was I claiming, that our current squad could match it with the current Div 1 sides. Certainly 5-6 players could (not including me), and could be some of the better players in the division if they put in the effort. As you implied, new signigs are needed to be consistent accross the board.
We have 2 guys in our squad who would be pushing for a start with our federation side by next year if they were disciplined enough and could train 2-3 times a week. Another played first team in the super league 4 years ago until he did his knee and never got back into it. Another also played first team 4 years ago and then stopped due to work AND study commitments, and is currently one of the better futsal players in the state.
Then you have the guys that played juniors in the early 2000's and won the federation cups/championships etc. Had PLENTY of potential but all fell off the radar since due to various reasons. For example, the captain of the 2001 U/19's federation cup wining side hasn't played feds for about 5 years now and has played about 2 games for our reserves side so far this season. He stepped up on the weekend, played left-back and didn't let ANYTHING through the whole day. Our centre-back, hasn't played feds for years (maybe 10 or so years) and has been playing reserves all year, but stepped up on the weekend and won every header that came towards our goal. Then you have another level of quality with N. Tsoukalas (ex NSL) who currently plays for our reserves with a few mates. Doesn't train, just comes out for a kick on Sundays and then goes back home to his family. Two years ago, this guy was one of the better players in the feds. If he was to train twice a week, he could still EASILY slot into any amateur division.
Like any other club, my club is also looking to expand in the coming years. We have a decent enough 'base' and with a some new signings, as well as more discipline when it comes to training, there is no reason why we can't climb up to, and be competitive in the premier league. Unconstructive comments which basicaly say to me "your club is shit" are not necessary. Besides, I'm the one that predicted us to lose by a double digit score, so understandably I am still very happy about my club going through to the next round.

Re: CUP RESULTS - 2009/07/11 & 12
now let me set it straight for all you guys....i was there and there was no fluke involved in the win by a div 3 side over a 'good' div 1 side as someone previously posted..... PHW didnt look like anything more than a div 4 res side last sunday and the result reflected their ability on the day....fitter and faster they were yes but technically absolute garbage and would struggle in this years div 3 based on that performance....as you all know cup games are strange things and full credit to Beograd for outsmarting the more fancied oponents....yes there is a difference between the two divisions and last weekend the lower division took the honours.... my opinion purely based on the days performance and not the standard of the two divisions.... individually there are many players in div 3 that could easily step up to div 1 sides as there are playeres in div 1 who wouldnt get a game in some div 3 sides..... but it was still a great day for the red, blue and white
retired handy man!
