Reserves Cup

SPOC 3-1 Downs

A great win by our boys today. Some tough tackles flying in and also some stupid tackles by various downs players. Game was very free flowing with plenty of chances gone begging. Interesting end to the game with 2 Downs and a SPOC player being sent off for some madness... Well done to the Downs for playing some attractive football for a reserves side (plus Benny A in goal)....

Downs scored in 93rd minute by second half substitute - a well taken header from a corner.
Wanderers probably controlled first half and should've had three or four. Downs probably had the better second half (just) in what was a pretty good game to watch especially by a few opposition coaches.

No major incidents to report except for some over zealous tackles which you'd expect anyway.

Congratulations to the Downs and good luck with the rest of the cup.

Went out to see this one today. Some decent football played today. I think to summarise the game BOSA were far more clinical. I think that it was certainly an off day for the Vale, but that was credit to BOSA for lowering their colours. As the game progressed Vale's passing seemed to get worse and worse, with their ability to whip a ball in completely eluding them. I found watching Brooksey's reactions very amusing!!! Also as the game went on the Vale midfield went missing and Primavera and Patterson began to control the game.

Well done to BOSA and unlucky to Vale who seemed to play a very young side? Were you guys missing anyone?

LOL!!! How else do you stop Petch?? Im certainly not fast enough!!! I didnt play so id didnt bother me. The Saturday guys, especially the young ones, dont understand the hardness of Sunday league. They did do very well today, but I think at times the Downs players did some stupid things, like smaking one of our players and leading to a blood nose etc. Anyway I dont want to harp on the negatives, it was a good game, and yes I love the hard tackles!!!

Cougars 2 v Florina 3 (HT1-1)

Florina controlled the game early and scored through a scrambled goal from a set piece. Cougars responded after a bad goalkeeping clearance was blocked by Cougars striker who put away the rebound. Second half similar to first with Cougars tiring and playing with 6 in the back allowing Florina plenty of space in the midfield which they never used to full affect. Entertaining but scrappy affair all up (prob due to poor surface) 2 further goals to Florina 2nd from a nicely put away volley and 3rd from a well taken header leaving the keeper with no chance. To Cougars credit they fought it out to have the slightly better of the chances in the second half and winning a penalty, which was put away after a great save from the keeper. IMO both side resorted to long balls from defense with both midfields pretty much non effective. Florina probably just shaded it in general play.
Great fighting effort again from the Cougars boys showing they are much more than just a Sat div 3 outfit. As for Florina, well it was either a bad day, or lots of players out because they really only did just enough to get over the line.

Fresh, I think you should remove those rose coloured glasses.
Neither team controlled either half, the surface was so bumpy it made it difficult for anyone to control anything.
As for over zealous tackles pfft.
I don't think I've heard so many unwarranted appeals for handball for a very long time.
Good battle all day between Tasovac and Fuda.
Some good work from bigazz in the Downs goal.
Well controlled by referee John McDermott

I didn't say Downs had over zealous tackles, I said there were some over zealous challenges (both sides, sorry for not being pedantic Swanny). You'd expect it in a big game between two good sides.
bigazz did keep the visitors in the contest in the first half with a few good saves...

Reserve Cup

OISC - Bosa 4-3 (aet)

What a topsy tury game!!

We scored after about 5 minutes and dominated the first 20 minutes. Then BOSA scored a goal directly from a corner, and they dominated the rest of the first half. They scored again just before half time and could have (and probably should have) been up by more, given the amount of possession they had. 1-2 half time.

They controlled the first five minutes of the second half, and then it was like a switch was turned on and the sides swapped control of the match again! We scored to equalise with about 15 to go and probably should have snatched a winner. 2-2 after 90 minutes.

First half ET Bosa were well on top again and scored about 2-3 minutes in. They controlled the midfield and the defensive line and we didnt create a chance. 2-3 half time extra time.

Second half ET was another role reversal. We took the ascendancy and scored twice in 5 minutes. BOSA threw everything at us for the last 5-6 minutes but couldn't break through. 4-3 full time.

Hard luck BOSA and a great game to be involved in. Aside from one crude challenge early on in the game, it was played in good spirits.

quite a few on the sidelines with some getting over niggles & resting. plus a few non cup tied ressies playing from the kickoff..florina never got out of first gear, going through the motions all day.should of buried some sitters as well that would of killed it off..
cup games always tricky games to play in. 2 goals given to cougars through some slack defending when the balls should of just been cleared long rather than stuffing around with it..was amazed to see florina players today just let players run past them and not follow their man.

on to the quarters and put that one behind us..

Fair write up, we did have a makeshift side today but no excuses we should off played better, full credit to the cougars we knew they were going to take it right up to us, end of the day we did enough to get through.

Good bunch of lads, all the best for the rest of the year.

Cougars v Florina........

Would like to also add something that usually gets missed!!!!!

I'm not one to be a huge fan of the refs/officials but once again today they were excellent. at least 8/10!!!
A game that looked at certain times to possibly get out of control was kept in total control by good officiating based on common sense and an attitude to officiate not dictate.

Well done again guys its great to see :!: :!: :!: :D

That's why I listed the ties in the opening thread... to insert the results so they are there for everbody to see
Ingle Farm has a double heaser so it may be the go. I have to work, but I'd like to go to San Marco for obvious reasons.

Reserves Cup Result

Adelaide Vikings (Sun Div 2) 9 v Stirling (Sat Div 1) 3

Vikings playing with a 5 goal breeze went ahead early, before we had a player sent off (straight red) in the 20 th minute, we didnt realise we were playing saturday rules  . 5-1 up at half time, game over. Stirling going with the breeze scored from a penalty and a one on one to make it 5-3, from then on it was party time.

Well I look real stupid now...

PHW 0 : Beograd 2

Match summary: PHW made a mistake in the 10th minute, we scored. PHW made another mistake in the 15th minute, we scored again. Then we defended.

PHW apparently had 4 regulars out. We had 7 out due to injuries/sickness/suspensions/work! MASSIVE defensive effort by the boys that played today!
