Downs v Florina

....saw the C grade game and the referee was an absolute disgrace and heard that it was no better for the Bs in fact worse. Warning to every other team that plays there.

That being said, and most of the Downs would admit, that it doesn't really matter as the main game was a walkover and that is the one that counts.

As for the big brave fella that said that he would celebrate in front of the Downs crowd, you're welcome to the takings by the way (wish we could be there every week to keep the club financial - and get an easy 3 points!) - I am sure that there may be some blokes that have got drunk celebrating and fallen asleep that may be waking up now that you could shout and carry on in front of! If that makes you feel better albeit more than four hours late. Mind you, if you shot like you did all day then you may still be practising, in a week you may get to make Benny A catch it!

Maco's-2 Brahma-3

Well played to both teams in a hard fought game, probably not the best game to watch, but a important 3 points against our locals.

the ressies ref for florina is the worst in the league by far! he really does disgrace the club with the way he officiates and ive seen him ruin more then 1 game that could of been a real good one. have previously spoken with ex florrie players and they say that they even hate how he ruins games. :( poor form. but then again at least some one sticks there hand up to do the job so i guess everyone just has to cop it on the chin.... does make winning there a lot more sweeter though :D

Firstly thank you for the beers and food, nice touch we can't hang around as we have a bar that sponsors us - drink driving etc

In the A's we won 2-1 felt a draw may have been fair, but there have been quite a few games this year where we should have got more but didn't so that's Football - very funny moment when a Vista player who had been given the Knights player he was marking grief all game ran over and gave the crowd a serve for doing the same to him! Won't go on,but toughen up Princess!

In the B's good tight contest until about the 40th minute - then the referee took control, everyone whinges about handballs, offsides, free kicks etc,but when a player headbutts another in full view he must go, and no, he didn't - referee then lost all credibility and dominated the second half, shame as up till then was a good close game
hardly a head butt, vista's player may have glanced the players lips with his forehead and they both pushed at each other, our guy only got up to his chin/mouth anyway, anyway typical away side complaining about a home side ref, sick of hearing about it

As for the A's, agreed, a draw a fair result but to credit to knights, took their chances. Knights played for the draw in the second half and waited for counter attacks only and came through with the points, another stumble against the knights for vista, bogie side thats for sure
You go on the p*ss all day, you've ballooned out like the Pillsbury Doughboy!
You could go to jail for this! What sort of system am I going to play then? Three across the middle and one in bloody Pentonville? *Mike Basset*

well done to the sweeper, smart move calling the ref.... only lets your team mates down. Then have to play the remainder of the game with 10 men. Frustrated or not, you only hurt your own team!!! Plus the fact you get to have a week on the sidelines for lacking discipline, very clever.

with benny aldridge playing so well and matt peace getting sent off and missing 3 games minimum after today, i think this could be the difference on who will go on to finish higher in the league this year![/quote]

what was the story with matt peace, what did he do to get 3 games minimum?

westies vs vale was only 3-0, russ harris from the spot, eric van ryswyk and mick harris with the others

backed up a good performance against pontians last week with another good performance to get back on the winning track, looking far more comfortable and playing much better than we have for the last few weeks, defence looking far more solid and creating plenty of chances for the forwards, could have very easily scored 6+ lacked some composure in front of goal. But overall a very good team performance and definatly back on track to challange for the title this year

The fact that the headbutt missed it's target is irrelevant, it was an intended headbutt and should have been dealt with as such.

sick of hearing it??? I wonder why??? Listen we can go on about a whole host of decisions that went against us, but generally you expect that in an Away B' Game, however you and Vista 9 have acknowledged the head butt, the minute that happens and the referee does nothing, the whole game degenerates then the referee send someone off for dissent!!!!

Pretty even in the first half & if Gully had taken thier chances could have been a different game, but to be fair Vikings were better overall on the day. Harder, stronger , faster, many more chances in the second half, it's a shame the goals they did score were from our errorrs.Better luck next week lads, GO U GULLY!!!!

The goals we scored were from your mistakes??? Were you taking a bathroom break whilst we scored both our goals?? First goal we had possesion for at least 7-8 passes on the edge of the area before passing wide then a quality ball to the back post for a header as a midfielder worked into a quality position to finish.....name the mistake there you made??.
Second goal was a shot on the turn from the edge of the 18yd box which your keeper at full stretch could only parry our midfielder followed up with conviction and put it away...name the mistake there?.

Was a quality game today, hope the TTG lad that rolled his ankle is ok.

Yes your passing and running off the ball were quite good. I believe I did mention that you were overall the better side on the day but I still call an unmarked player in our box and a shot our keeper should have held but spilled to another unmarked player in our box a mistake by our defense.
Go You Gully!!!

Perhaps Matt can enlighten everybody as to what happend?? I was standing about 20 yards away when it happened and think it should be 2-3 matches.

Just a quick one to thank the Gardens ressies for a solid but fair game, a few heads were left scratched after young Chris Brooker was brought down by the last man and no card shown. Great goal by Mal from the freekick but Keeper should have at least got a hand to it. Well done to Graham Elrich grabbing another vital goal in our title race.

I was just making a general point that any player who gets sent off for something like that incident is simply letting your own team down. It achieves absolutely nothing and we have all played the game for long enough to know that. :clown:

Plus, I am just a spectator so it's not my issue.. just a passing comment.

East 2 - Munno Para 2

The roller coaster of a season continues up on the hill at easties. We were asleep most of the first half and probably deserved to be 2 down at the half. Certainly weren't performing like the team should be. In saying that it was another scrappy goal we conceeded from a corner i think and an absolute crakcer from the MP striker. Im certain he has never hit a ball like that in his life. One of the best i have seen. We stepped of the park at half time and a very quick reality check and a fierce start to the second half had MP on the back foot. A well taken goal from reeky and then a penalty later on brought us right back in it. After the penalty a MP gave the ref an absolute spray and got sent off. We played well in the final 15 mins and created plenty of chances to take the lead, but once again, we couldnt quite finish off inside the box. I thought we deserved all 3 points in the end, but credit to MP they stuck it out all game.
So far this season we have been on the brink of beating teams and its just not happening. then again in games like Beach and Vikings things went our way. It seems that is the story for loads of teams this year and it should keep things tight at the top for the second half of the season.

That was a cracker. Keeper was off his line but I doubt he expected a shot from there.
I thought although he didn't run around much your club referee was quite good.

i would doubt any keeper would have got close to that one.
Yeah the club ref is very fair from what i have seen. sometimes a little bias to the other team :) he's there every home game and does do a great job for the club. As for the not running, he is a player, but has long term injuries, not sure if that might be affecting him?

but let's be fair... the penalty was given for a foul outside the box!!! Referee made a crucial mistake with that one!

In the end, a loss to either team probably would have been harsh. A point each, fair result.
