Time to stop transfers by instalments
Just read Liverpool are still owed money on the sale of Peter Crouch to Portsmouth, I think its time FIFA stepped in enforced that transfers be paid in full at sale. This might help drive down the prices.

There is not enough liquidity in the world of football to pay massive sums all in one hit......impossible.
Re: Time to stop transfers by instalments
Exactly right Kop.
As an Everton fan, I know pretty much all our major transfers are done this way. We got Fellaini for 5 installments of 3 mil pounds each payable every summer. Yobo was signed in similar fashion.

Many sales have a performance based clause in them which can only be calculated as the player plays.

It should be a one off payment and that is it nice and simple. Dont buy what you cant afford, I dont

it's a bit like a consignment. Many newsagents stock magazines they don't actually own.Derwood wrote:It should be a one off payment and that is it nice and simple. They sorta have until Real Madrid ruined the market this summer.ozzie owl wrote:Then the prices will have to fall. The Kop wrote:There is not enough liquidity in the world of football to pay massive sums all in one hit......impossible.
Now every player is overpriced again, E.g Bayern want 300 trillion for Ribery, and Everton want 2 dollars australian for Tony Hibbert.

Re: Time to stop transfers by instalments
Thats the point. Would drive the prices down considerably. But it still wouldn't stop the clubs from gettn financed from banks like Real did this season. So need to address that issue as well, only permit clubs to have limited amount of debt or something i dunno. The Kop wrote:There is not enough liquidity in the world of football to pay massive sums all in one hit......impossible.

^ but it is.
For every installment plan agreed to by clubs there are associated bank gurantees & letters of credit backed - most often - by debt from...........banks.

Rubbish idea!
surely it's up to each club to decide how they accept their payments.

Don't agree if you haven't got the cash or your bank credit won't cover you, bad luck. The instalment system exposes club to greater risk of collapse.God is an Englishman wrote:Rubbish idea!

Re: Time to stop transfers by instalments
but if you're selling something then obviously it should be your choice as to how you want to accept payment. The decision should always be with the owner.ozzie owl wrote:Don't agree if you haven't got the cash or your bank credit won't cover you, bad luck.
