Game played at the Paddocks. Poor game really with neither team playing that well. Tough in the trenches and handshakes by most at the end. Game spoiled by an impersonator in a referees outfit with an interest in one of the teams. I know there are not enough good refs to go around but if the FFSA could avoid these situations, it might help.
The headlines should have read "Ref hands Modbury a point"
The Ref was just waiting for a reason to give a penalty! Modbury were pushing hard but were never going to score the defense was too strong. The ball was smashed by a Para Hills player into another Para Hills player who was only 6 foot away! This was a clearance down field, there is no way the player could have got out of the way or he would have done to enable the ball to be cleared!
JUST A COMPLETE AND UTTER CASE OF THE REF HAVING CLUB INTERESTS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ha ha clunk. Sorry thats me laughing so hard at some of you clowns I just fell off my chair Happened that I was at the Paddocks on Sunday and saw the Para 16s and Modbury match and also saw the Ref give a goal when the linesman had his flag up for offside well before the ball went in the back of the net. So look in your own back yard before accusing Refs having club interests. Becos the Ref of the 16s match has lads playing at Para Hills. So what does that say then.
He allowed the first goal to Para that was offside and the match ended 3-1. Who knows whot would of happened if that first goal was disallowed like it should of been.
So what was all that about Refs having club interests?
And before anyone asks the question, no I don't have kids in either team.

i realise that mate. Am just pointing out that if the 15s match had a Ref with "Modbury interests" who made a decision that went against Para, then what about the 16s game when the "Para Hills" Ref gave a goal to Para when it was offside.

looks like it works both ways then.

Not really the point. Refs should not have interests if they do fair enough but dont ref those games thats all am saying the penalty in the 15 game was a disgrace, a stong word but that is what it was
This problem with Referees or for that matter Ref's not even bothering to turn up will only be remedied by the FFSA when it starts to hurt their hip pocket.
Perhaps they'll listen and take proper measures to ensure proper ref's are on hand and turn up to their allocated games if they're forced to pay a financial penalty to the clubs or the kids' parents.
Eg - Club reg'n fee for season = $500. I'm guessing some of this goes to the FFSA?
Ref doesn't turn up to a game.
Game is postponed.
The portion of the $500 paid to the FFSA from the club is divided into the number of games over the season and the FFSA has to then reimburse the Club that game day's portion per player.
the Club can then pay it back to the parents or keep it for its own use - I suspect given the number of times ref's haven't shown up it'll turn out to be a nice little revenue earner for the clubs.
it's a tribute to parents who step in when ref's don't turn up but a game should not be decided on the parent's poor refereeing as one match was yesterday.

One eye is better than no-eyes i suppose
What about the great save the Para 'keeper made before the penalty,
i can hear the cogs turning
If he had not of saved that then who knows. all i am saying is credit where it is due.
The ball hit the players hand then it is up to the ref, is does not matter how far away it was but if the player got an advantage it is up to the ref to decide.
Given the comments about the performance of the ref / linesmen / parents / spectators ect, that come up every week on this forum i doubt there would be many ref's viewing or posting here.
This is where the coach has his job cut out to get positives out of the game and move on. If it were a cup final then you would doubt some of these refs will be getting a game but on the other hand nor would a number of others
Without ammunition, the Air Force is just an expensive flying club

Wouldn't have picked either of these. Some strange results in the 15As this year.
Did Gawler forfeit against ABE or was the game postponed? Hopefully the latter.
LOL are u serious Green? West Adelaide this year so far have beaten Cumberland,Adelaide City,Modbury,Birkalla,Blue Eagles,Campbelltown,Croydon, etc and this result surprises you? Please explain and it better be good!We had a couple of shockers i agree but only when we had the 2 lads out on injuries and the 3 that were overseas all at the same time.

Oh dear.
No doubt you are bringing Man Utd Cup results and perhaps friendlies into the equation here to muddy the waters.
We are talking 15A league results here and nothing else. Birkalla aren't in the 15As and West Adelaide haven't even played Modbury or Adelaide City yet.
My comment was a general one about the 15As and wasn't aimed at any one team in particular.
You would also be aware from reading other threads on this forum that many of the teams in the 15As, not just West Adelaide, are having a horror run this year in regard to player availability.
Not that it makes too much difference (does to the keeper) but it was 8-1
Outclassed,
1 still out with flu and 1 lad broke his hand, playing something he shouldn't
city had players out from CBC but city's depth sooo much better
