Sat Div 2 Round 9

Post by Wraith »

Still a while to go, but i thought i'd put it up in case anyone wants to discuss.

***** 06/06/09*****

Navarino vs FC Adelaide

***** 20/06/09*****

Navarino vs. Flinders
Sthn Breakers vs. Monarchs
Old Ignatians vs. Vipers
FC Adelaide vs. Comets
Budapest vs. Sals Villa

Some big games coming up, will there be any fireworks in the replay of Navarino vs. FC Adelaide?

Looking forward to playing Iggies, will be a good hard match.

Interesting that FC Adelaide face Comets, after i hear Comets picking up a few ex-FC Adelaide players.

Also Budapest vs. Sals Villa is a massive game also.

after watching our As game vs Navarino i could see why there would be a problem, the navarino striker elbowed our defender behind play, is that the same guy that just came back from a 3 week suspension

Navarino Vs FC Adelaide...

FC must dig deep in the next two games to have a chance of promotion and saving its season. Navarino's form must have surprised Comets. Upset complete!

SAASL will surely think of sending 3 officials to promote sportsmanship. Both teams play good football so this would help make it a much more entertaining game to go watch.

Navarino to make it three in a row!

PS BOSA to beat Villa in another great game to watch.

I heard a little rumour from a supposed reliable source that Lemmy is coming out of retirement to play the remainder of the season.

AHOS?? True or False?

I think Lemmy last played in 2007. He is fit so would be a good signing in terms of playing.

I heard a few players have moved from FC

Lemmy won the title with us in 2007, came into the team for the last 8-10 games.

WHAT A ROUND THIS LOOKS LIKE, THIS ROUND COULD CERTAINLY DETERMINE WHERE CLUBS FINISH THIS YEAR. I KNOW ITS ONLY HALF WAY BUT YOU CANNOT AFFORD TO DROP A POINT, I RECKON PROMOTION WILL COME DOWN TO GOALS ITS THAT CLOSE. MY TIP IS SALISBURY AND VIPERS JUST BEATING NAVARINO.

I totally disagree, this round is just another ordinary round. In no way will this round determine any final standings. This is probably one of the closest comps I've seen not so much in points/goals scored but the quality of play, and I'm afraid to say it, but it will probably come down to the last couple of rounds for any certainty. Personally if we avoid relegation then I think we have defied the pre-season odds.

RESERVES DON'T GET YOU PROMOTED MATE, ONLY YOUR FIRSTS, AND AFTER THIS WEEK IT WILL ONLY BE 1 POINT. NO POINT YOUR RESERVES FINISHING TOP IF YOUR A'S DON'T CUT IT, NOT SAYING YOUR A'S DON'T CUT IT I HAVN'T SEEN THEM THIS YEAR.

I have to agree with Kitchimo four points is already a buffer.

Zeus dont sell yourself short mate.

Sure at the start of the year, this could of been your aim but with the players you have and the start you have made you have a great opportunity to get promoted!

The opportunity is there so take it. For me Vipers and Villa for promotion, however dont discount Budapest or Comets.

Budapest's reserves are bottom without a point, what's your point? There's 3 teams that have broken away from the rest, although Villa and Budapest are playing this week.

To clear things up it appears Kitchimo is saying that the Vipers are safe(ish) Currently having a buffer of 4 points. Luckyforsome has mistaken this comment to assume he was talkiing about the iggies reserves as they currently also have a buffer of 4 points. Hence the comments about reserves etc. Lucky4some you have been mistaken!

I honestly do not think we are safe yet, yes it's a great chance we'll stay up but as I've previously mentioned it's not over till it's over. I've seen in the past teams that have completely fallen apart in the second round!

Ah I see. Vipers are far from safe - the league is very even - but the 3 teams at the top have a significant advantage having opened up a 4 point (ie more than one win) gap over the rest of the league.

As for the Reserves, mate we are taking it one game at a time. So cliched, yet true. Each week we focus on the team we are playing against and that's it! 4 points is a good gap to have (again, more than one win), and hopefully we can increase it against Vipers whilst other teams take points off of each other.

There's still 10 games to go in each league!

if navarino beat bottom placed flinders next round, and villa draw with budapest, its only a 2 point gap with everyone still to play each other once. anything can happen. navarino were bottom 3 rounds ago!

Exactly.

League is very tight - and it is way too early to call who is favourite for promotion etc.

SORRY MY MISTAKE BUT 3 TEAMS EQUAL ON POINTS IS NOT A BUFFER, THIS DIVISION WONT BE OVER UNTIL THE FAT LADY SINGS. I AGREE YOU HAVE TO TAKE EACH WEEK ON ITS MERITS OR THATS WHEN WHEELS TEND TO FALL OFF. 8)
