yeh i just hope that they wouldn't see themselves too much as a charity case tho so we should organise a match with gold coin donation, i think thats best. im all for raising them money...count me in
Could someone not ask Adelaide United to have a fundraiser as a curtain raiser to an upcoming home game? A gold coin donation would raise a substantial amount of cash I should hope.
I see it as an attack on the sport or women's soccer rather than an attack on a club.
Arrange to have a women's game at Hindmarsh to be played just before the AU home game. Patrons could bhe asked to donate a gold coin to assist in the replenishment of the equipment lost in the fire on Hutt St.
Does that explanation help?
Admirable idea however, isn't this why we all pay insurance for? Because soemone deems it too expensive and doesn't take out insurance, do we have to pay? What will other clubs do? Cancel the insurance and take the risk?
Don't get me wrong, it was a sad incident but is indicative of our society. Doesn't the council own the building? So they woudl be looking to replace contents. $50,000 is a lot for a small club???
The fundraising idea is great in any case. good luck
if the adelaide city council owns the buliding good luck i was involved with a club a fair few years ago that have a council owned building and was torched took them 8 mths before they did anyting , no club can wait that long
cyote ive been in a similar situation with my yunger siblinds athletics club being torches and the council owned it. the council pretty much refused to build another one so mass fundraising was done.. but yeah jst hoping they have inurance!
drusetta : awesome idea buddy...
but even if its for charity i doubt they will help anyone... if they wldnt let sensation play before them how are they gunna let a few girls play....
im all for it, id luv to ring them and ask but im afraid we will probably get turned down...

If there is anyone out there who is wanting to help try and get a charity game up and running to help out adelaide City please come down on Sunday to the Zone championships at para hills and we will put our heads together to see what we can come up with.
When you come down just ask for Beverley Quigley.....
Why not tackle this a different way... Like hold the charity match at Olympic or Fulham... Advertise on FFSA and SAWSA websites, do a letter box drop... Advertise it at SAWSA Presentation night.... make it a family day with a sausage sizzle, jumping castle, lucky dips for the kids or something.... Like a soccer carnival atmosphere....
At the end of the day though its the AC Committee who needs to work out the best approach for them... as long as they know they have the support of the wider womens soccer community i'm sure they'll get there!
When we meet on Sunday we will discussing every way we can do this. We could even have the game at SAWSA park. Get a few people to bring portable bbq down. Get a few business to donate meat and everything.
I'm sure our old friend Mr. MC could be able to assist with advertising... Its possibile that the Advertiser itself would be keen to look at this as a good human interest story to help get publicity... Or at the very least the Adelaide Messenger gets distributed to businesses within the CBD weekly and could be a good way to attract donations, or event sponsors....
And isn't there a "Friend of the Parklands" organisation?? Surely they would be interested in supporting an event that will help to clean up the area??
There are lots of ways to promote an event, but as i said, players, members and management of ACWSC need to make the final call on what they want to do... The sooner the better for them though... Another month and people start to tighten their purse strings in preparation for Christmas... Plus they'll have preseason etc to consider...
well most of da city girls will eitha be in tha sawsa team or in tha otha team so they will definately be in it someway or anutha...
im speakin to someone from da messenger about it atm...
