Anyways, talk about recruits flying in, i hear another Raptor is flying in all the way from one of SAs lovely Peninsulas for an SOS call for Sundays game v the Knights. I dont think it will matter however, the strong rumour of the Raptors playing Saturdays next year has obviously given the players nothing to play for this season. A little pride however wouldnt go astray. I dont mind losing, but 6-1 is overkilling the care factor even if knowone cares :!: :!: :!:
4 goals in 10 minutes today killed the game off

dont know where that came from Colossus - i dont think that the players are even aware of that rumour

we just werent good enough and couldnt compete with the pressure that TTG applied. whats most disappointing though is the pride, fight and effort shown when we went 3-1, 4-1 down. basically there was none shown.

we shouldve drawn a line in the sand, but instead crumbled even further and probably couldve lost by more.

were now bottom of the table and play another celler dweller next week - it shapes up as a true MUST WIN game for us

So Maxin, your telling me that you or any of the other players are not aware of the very strong rumours that the Raptors will be flying in the Saturday leagues alongside our old mates from the Pumas next season??? Come on mate, pull the other one  I know we have plenty of injuries at the moment and there are a 3 or 4 players whove moved out of Adelaide from last years squad, but combine all of that with the "care" factor because of the rumour and what you get is a bunch of lads just going through the motions until the season again means something from next year

Anyways, as long as we beat Knight 7s boys this week, ill be happy :D

Colossus, im saying the only rumour ive heard re playing on Saturdays, is for an over-35s team to be introduced – and that was just as a passing comment

I havent heard anything about the whole club moving to Saturdays – im sure most players wouldn’t have heard anything either. Regardless, even if that was the case it shouldn’t have affected our performance.

lets hope this Raptor player answering our SOS call can make a difference this week!

Would have to agree with all the comments by maxin in the shade Raptor boys were in the game up till half time and didnt look like a side "going through the motions". Best of luck for the season lads.

Yassoo Re Koumbaros!

Just wondering if there was any truth in the rumour that Raptors are moving to saturdays next year.
It's what everyone here in melbourne's been talking about over the last week or so, and it's been lead story on the back page of the herald sun for the last couple of days now.

PS im extremely busy and haven't had time to read all the ^^^ posts above ^^^ so forgive me if it's been mentioned earlier

PPS what's the red card tally for Raptors no. 18 so far this year?

See you all in a couple of weeks, Sacred

How do you expect the A's to get four wins in one round?

Raptors Pre season

Post by maxin in the shade »

it was always gonna be a difficult task for the a's to get through their cup tie against the current Div 1 pacesetters in PHW

it was a well played game on a hard and bumpy pitch. PH definately had the better of the play overall but we had our moments to score and like all season, couldnt put the ball away when it mattered.

we started off slow, but as the first half went on we got more and more into the game. there was even a period for about 15 minutes where we got on top after going 1-0 down but again, couldnt make a difference where it counts.

second half, same story.
we had a bit of possession but just couldnt do the business in the final third.
their fitness and intensity was too much for us to handle in the end as they got two late goals to seal a 4-0 win

good to see Sacred June, one of our interstate recruits, coming back to make an appearance in the ISC colours again.

the a's was an exciting end to end game played in perfect conditions on a great pitch.

both sides had chances to take the points but we couldnt do the business in the final third of the pitch while para took one of theirs with a nice header from a left sided cross.

gotta say it was one of the most fair and well contested matches ive been involoved in. no yellows, no dirty tackles - both teams just playing the ball, attacking at every opportunity

disappointing result for us obviously, as we still seek that first win of the season. we'll keep fighting though

another great result for the b's as they continue their great form of late. they seem to be really gelling well

Another hugely disappointing game for us yesterday

the a's game was a tight contest, almost exactly like last weeks match v munno para. we conceded a goal with about 15 to go. then conceded a second almost straight away. what was hard to believe though was that 2 minutes before they scored their first goal, they went down to 10 men.

we scored with about 5 to go to make it 2-1, then pushed forward in the hope of getting an equaliser but to no avail. well done to SM for the win, but were now well and truly in the midst of a relegation battle.

hey bada,
they both play for one of our C grade sides, and both have been putting in excellent performances

theyre both actually leading the goalscoring for our club aswell. i think both are good enough to be playing higher, but i think they enjoy playing C's

either way, its great to have them both at the club. great guys

A lot of hard work and effort finally paying off with some luck going your way this week.
Heard a certain ex-pat turned in a good performance off the bench as well..

Keep up the great effort lads and more results like this will come throughout the season.

a great win by our a’s and a relief to finally get that first win of the season - and of course it was against the top side!

we went 1-0 down from a header scored at the back post. bad defending on our part as their player was left unmarked as the ball came in. from then on we were kinda on the back foot but we held on for the rest of the half.

we went into half time 1-0 down but still confident of getting a result. about 10 minutes into the second half a goal kick makes it into our attacking third. Two players go up for the header but miss it, and one of our midfielders runs through and calmly flicks it past the keeper and, despite the oncoming defenders best efforts, slots the ball home. 1-1

were back in the match!

about halfway through the 2nd half as West Beach push more and more forward to get back their lead, they break forward and somehow the ball comes off one of our defenders arms and the ref calls a penalty. to be fair, the handball was there so it was a good decision. they put it away and were down again. 2-1 WB

at this stage one of our players from our interstate academy (for the sake of the write up, lets call him Sacred June) came on with immediate results. his skill and liveliness helped create a few chances and with about 20 to go we get a penalty from a handball (almost the same as the one WB were awarded). SJ steps up and calmly slots it down the middle leaving the keeper with no chance. 2-2

the game was there for the taking for both sides. WB had a few corners with one of their headers coming off the bar but we held firm and stayed strong at the back

with about 7-8 minutes to go on the clock some excellent one-touch lead up play sends SJ down the left wing, and with what can only be described as a 'peach' of a cross, he finds our striker in the middle who bullets home a header to send us 3-2 up.

from then on it was back to the walls type stuff as they pushed forward for the equaliser. but we held on for our first win – a great one at that!

Sounds like some composed finishing from this mystery midfielder! tantalising!

But seriously great effort on sunday boys! Makes me wish i was still playing with such a great team and fantastic bunch of blokes every week again.

Stay tuned for the "special-guest match review write up" to be posted on the website in the next day or two

I also heard your penalty was the goal of the round
You step up to take the penalty, you haven't even walked backwards yet and the keeper has already dived to his left leaving you to calmly slot it down the middle...

Something like that. But can u blame him. he knew that if i was gonna put it in the corner, the only way he was gonna get there in time was with an extreemly early dive.
