Napoli net Quaglia, Cigarini

Post by getborn »

There are strong reports Napoli have secured the services of both Fabio Quagliarella and Luca Cigarini for next season.

The Partenopei had been linked with both players and, according to Sky Sport Italia, the negotiations were completed this evening.

Udinese are said to have agreed to hand over Italian international striker Quagliarella for around £14m plus the other half of co-ownership share Maurizio Domizzi’s contract.

It would be a return to the San Paolo for Quagliagol, who is a native of Naples and admitted it was his dream to wear their jersey.

It’s believed he will put pen to paper on a five-year contract with the aim of taking Napoli back into Europe.

He isn’t the only big summer buy, as Sky Italia also suggests a deal has been struck for Atalanta midfielder and Under-21 international Cigarini.

The youngster is currently shared between Atalanta and Parma, but Napoli would buy out the Orobici’s half for £4m.

In addition, they would hand the second half of Gyorgy Garics’ contract to Atalanta, as he is also on a co-ownership deal between the Bergamo side and Napoli.

im hoping

Napoli Coach Donadoni Hails Quagliarella And Cigarini Signings

Napoli coach Roberto Donadoni talked about the imminent arrival of Fabio Quagliarella and Luca Cigarini, as well as the delicate situation of star striker Ezequiel Lavezzi.

Napoli welcome Chievo tomorrow in a meaningless encounter on the final matchday of the Serie A season, but no one at the club seems to be talking about this match, as the focus has been mostly on the transfer market.

The arrivals of striker Fabio Quagliarella from Udinese and midfielder Luca Cigarini from Atalanta are almost official, and today coach Roberto Donadoni commented on these signings and the team's future.

"It's in our intentions to build an important team," he told Datasport. "Quagliarella and Cigarini are two fine players who add to the team's quality and character. Their arrivals can only do us good. I tell our players we have a great president with great charisma who wants to make his ambitions come true.

"At his side there is a sporting director who is an expert on the transfer market and who also knows how to deal with people. There is a lot of understanding between us and we all want to create the conditions for an important season."

On the possible departure of star striker Ezequiel Lavezzi, Donadoni said, "[Pierpaolo] Marino is the right man to deal with these matters, which are not really a part of my job. I hope the situation gets resolved. Lavezzi has to understand his own potential better, not because he doesn't work hard but because he doesn't know his own defects.

"Lavezzi is available for tomorrow, but we'll have to evaluate the psychological aspect. I will talk with him and evaluate what's the best thing to do."

Ill believe it when he (Quaglia) is there in the shirt.

Cigarini will be a very good addition if we can get him.

true but they are working on this as we speak. This is a serious project and Dela said that they have wasted
two years as this was suppose to be the year to qualify for the europa. I think that thier purchases from now on will be strong
established quality players with an additional purchase of a future young gun that Marino likes. Donadoni, Marino, and Delaurentiis
are working hard to build a GREAT team. They had their first meeting last week to discuss about the transfer market, and i believe
that was one of many many meetings to come between them. It will be a long summer for them i think!

They are some very class signings, especially Quagliarella, no disrespect to Napoli but I thought Quagliarella would make the jump to someone like Juventus, Milan or Roma or even look abroad to maybe partner Toni at Bayern...obviously not...well done to Napoli, should be good seeing how they go next season...my bet is Europa.

Quagliarella signs for Napoli Monday 1 June, 2009

Fabio Quagliarella has signed a five-year deal with Napoli, allowing him to play for the club he supported as a boy.

The 26-year-old Italy international expressed his desire to join the Partenopei as recently as this morning and his dream has come true.

“I am happy, it was what I hoped for. It crowns a dream,” Quagliarella reportedly told his closest friends.

Quagliarella has enjoyed a wonderful season for Udinese, scoring 13 Serie A goals in 36 appearances for the Zebrette.

“I am proud that Quagliarella is to become a Napoli player,” Pierpaolo Marino, the club's director of sport, told Radio Marte.

“I don't want to make any comments, I'll leave this joy to the fans. I thank President Aurelio De Laurentiis for putting together the conditions to close this deal.

“Fabio's desire to come has been decisive. He preferred us to other more prestigious teams,” Marino revealed.

“We will sign other players. It will be a prestigious transfer campaign,” Marino concluded.

Why has respect dropped? Cos he left a club.

That means no respect for every player that moves on this off season - all 2000 of them.

He was channelled into a move to Udinese because of the co-ownership issue.

Napoli offered good money, he is originally fom Castellamare (32 kms from the city) and has always made it known his preference was to play for his beloved Napoli. He even rejected bids from Juve and Roma.

I say Bravo, one player who has stayed true to his heart and not cash.

Udinese have made nearly 20 million Euro out of him so they wont be complaining.

Forza Quagliagol.

No drama - I reckon he will stick with 27, plus new sponsors next year and new strip, so the Mrs Will be wrapped I just dropped so much money on stuff this year!!!

Now we can sell Calaio outright to Siena and get some cash back.

Acutally if anything Quagliarella gets more respect from me now seeing as he's joined the hometown team, the guy is obviously more of a partenopeo than diegom. You won't see Fabio in a Man U shirt anytime soon.

Although having said that, I hate him a lot more now as you do with any Napoli player.

might benefit Lazio as well, as Udinese have given up their share of Maurizio Domizzi
