ACU Falcons 1 - 0 Adelaide Uni (3), Reserves (2-3)

Exciting game in the reserves with ACU unlucky to go down and the seniors fighting hard for the win with 3 starting 11 absent.

Burundi Eagles V Hahndorf

First team game did not start as no referee turned up.

Reserves, 1-0 to Hahndorf after being a man down for the last 20 mins. Interesting decision by the Eagles ref, called a foul from ~30metres away, a fair decision, it was a foul. Then the ref apparently wanted to talk to our player, but no-one heard it. Our player went back to a defensive position for the free and picked up another card for not going to the ref and was off.

I grew up being told if you want to talk to someone you go to them. Why should a referee be any different?

Could you have not played the first team match with the home team club referee?

Another great day for the boys at the Cougar Cave!!!!
Both teams dominated in their games and fair results prevailed.
Was a must win game for both teams which nests us nicely on the right side of the ladder.
Good job boys!

Hard to pick best players for the a's as it was a good all round performance. MA Hawks bound to be one of our closest oppositions this year. They looked nothing close to us in skill and fitness. Credit this week goes to our coach Bomber. The hard work he has put into our fitness showed yesterday. We finished off the game to the 90th.

SCORERS: Ross Alessi (2)- Well done champ!
Nick Lalli (1) - Won the game for us in his half an hour of glory.

2. Ross Alessi/ Marco- couldnt pick

Great result for the Cougars.

But ive got to say that that Ross Alessi kid is over-rated IMO.

C: Mt Barker (C1) 1 - Vipers 1

Scorers (A): Kali, Jaric, Park Ji-Sung (well, our own version)
Scorers (B): Gill (2), Galos

A milestone day for the Vipers. From 0-2 down at half-time, the A's pulled off one of the results of the season. It was one of the most gutsiest performances I have ever seen. Both teams outplayed each other in each half, but it was the Vipers who prevailed thanks to some well taken goals working it up the field. Popovic was a threat all day, setting up both of Budapest's goals, but unfortunately getting sent off at the end after his frustration and defenders got the better of him (their other tall striker was also dismissed for the record).

I could sit here all day and discuss the game, it was that good. The first goal was a piece of magic from Kali, weaving in and out before smacking it from distance. Jaric collected a through ball to poke it past the keeper to level the scores, and then Parky collected a square ball on the edge of the 18 yard box to drill a low one in the near post.

PS - the club ref for Budapest in the B's looked like he was about to have a heart attack and NEVER looked at the linesman, he was incredibly biased and actually turned to a protesting Vipers player and responded with "because you were mean to me!" in response to not awarding a free kick. Hmmm.

Now Div II gets VERY interesting...

GO YOU VIPERS!!!
Best win so far in the clubs short history!
"clubs short history"
what amazes me is, looking back at the last few years the vipers have never actually ended the year in a top two position but yet again they've managed to claw their way UP to Division 2

keepers are over protected.

Would you have called the foul had it been on an outfield player? If the answer is no, then play on. GOOD GOAL!! That English asshole still managed to get on the scoresheet though, poor bloke look knackered at the end when being subbed.

Good. The more opposition that under rate Ross, the better. In my opinion, he is a champ that is worth 20 goals a season to us. Any amatuer team would take him hands down.

I know the lad and he is a good kid, But Sorry to say, I do not think any amateur team would take him hands down. That is a huge call. For example if he came down to our club at this point in time he would not be in the A's squad IMO.

Maybe you are right, maybe you are wrong. He slots into OUR team well, and does every thing that the coach and club want him to do. Simply suits our style of play. Would rather have him playing for us than against us.

PS- He does have great hair and the perfect boots... CMON!!

Mate!!!! Who are you trying to kid? If the guy came to your club at the start of the year, you would have been rubbing your hands with joy. Sorry bud, but unless your squad has improved from that trail game you played against us when we played with half a team, I still cant work out how you are doing so well in division 2. Didnt really rate your squad much back then.... but, that was 3 months ago.
IMO, Ross is a gun striker and he will score many goals for us this year. I hope he proves you all wrong. :|

Fair point. Though I did note that it was 3 months ago. I am sure that they have improved vastly from the time we played them. Good luck to the Vipers. I hope they keep winning. Anything but see those cheating bastards from Budapest win a title or get promoted even.

Not saying he will not do well in your division. What I'm saying if he came to us now, he would be no more than a B's player. I am pretty firm with that. How many goals has he bagged this year and against who?

When we had our trial game even I didn't rate out squad all that much and I could see troubled times ahead. But like you said that was 3 months ago, and our team has worked well together and picked up a couple of very valuable players. Probably 3/4 of our first team have found the back of the net so far. We are now equal top in Div 2, and dare I say if we drop the ball we can very easily finish in the lower half . There are some great teams in this division and to be honest I do not think there is much difference from top to bottom. I rate them all and its not over till the fat lady sings.

Well... good luck Zeus. Hope you continue to win games. The season is long with many more games to be played. I agree, your comp this year looks quite even and any side can beat each other. Its about being consistant, consistantly good that is.

Trial games mean bugger all when it comes to rating teams.
Fair point. Though I did note that it was 3 months ago. I am sure that they have improved vastly from the time we played them. Good luck to the Vipers. I hope they keep winning. Anything but see those cheating sherry from Budapest win a title or get promoted even.
I still can't get over their club ref, what an experience.

Then to finish it all off, he was the linesman for the A's, and in the first 5 minutes he flagged offside, when it clearly wasn't, only for the ref to wave him down.

When Budapest scored their first, he was walking along the line in front of us winking and smiling, would've loved to seen his face when we came from 2 goals down at HT to win 2-3.

Did he do it with his beer and fags in hand the whole time? I don't like to get on here and point fingers at officials (?) but he is a blatant cheat and ruins the credibility of his club as a whole, which is a shame because there's nothing wrong with the players on the park.

Can not agree with you enough about the bold text.
