Sat Div 2

Salisbury Villa - Southern Breakers 8-0 (6-2)
Budapest - Vipers 2-3 (??)
Flinders - Old Ignatians 1-1 (2-3)
FC Adelaide - Monarchs 1-1 (3-2)
Comets - Navarino 0-2 (1-2)

Sat Div 4
Adelaide Pumas - Old Ignatians (2) 5-2 (1-2)

Friendly
Pembroke Es - Old Ignatians Es 3-1

The club ref in the Flinders Bs game was equally shocking both ways. In the As game, it was an arm wrestle which never really took off as a spectacle. I was told that our Cs were 4-0 down at half time and won the second half.

Div II

A: Budapest 2 Vipers FC 3
B: Budapest 2 Vipers FC 3
C: Mt Barker (C1) 1 - Vipers 1

Scorers (A): Kali, Jaric, Park Ji-Sung (well, our own version)
Scorers (B): Gill (2), Galos

A milestone day for the Vipers. From 0-2 down at half-time, the A's pulled off one of the results of the season. It was one of the most gutsiest performances I have ever seen. Both teams outplayed each other in each half, but it was the Vipers who prevailed thanks to some well taken goals working it up the field. Popovic was a threat all day, setting up both of Budapest's goals, but unfortunately getting sent off at the end after his frustration and defenders got the better of him (their other tall striker was also dismissed for the record).

I could sit here all day and discuss the game, it was that good. The first goal was a piece of magic from Kali, weaving in and out before smacking it from distance. Jaric collected a through ball to poke it past the keeper to level the scores, and then Parky collected a square ball on the edge of the 18 yard box to drill a low one in the near post.

PS - the club ref for Budapest in the B's looked like he was about to have a heart attack and NEVER looked at the linesman, he was incredibly biased and actually turned to a protesting Vipers player and responded with "because you were mean to me!" in response to not awarding a free kick. Hmmm.

Now Div II gets VERY interesting...

GO YOU VIPERS!!!

Modbury 3 - BOSA 2 (0-2)

A very disappointing result for us but credit to Modbury for taking the points and throwing open the table. I will try to put a report on here later when my mad house settles.

Budapest B's referee is by far the worst referee I have ever seen in any saasl match over the last few years. he is about 150yrs old, doesnt leave the centre circle all game , awards penalties for free's 8m outside the box and doesn't pay any free kicks to an opposition team and pays everthing to the home team. I am truly amazed Budapest reserves have not won a game by this alone.

Those who have experienced him will know, those who havent, you will soon find out.

St Peters 1 Adel Villa 1 (B's 1-2)

Certainly a tale of two halves with Saints well on top in the first half but Villa turning it around in the 2nd, a draw a fair result IMO.

Div 4 Result

A Grade

Murray Bridge Utd 1 - Simba of Congo 1

We left the park feeling like we had lost and Simba were celebrating all the way to the change room. One nil up and coasting, another contender for worse linesman of the day (even the ref comented he knew he was cheating so was paying no attention to him) He cost us our 2nd goal which he flagged as offside and then we failed to convert any chances after that. Simba snatched a point with a spectacular long range effort which was unstoppable with about 3 mins to go..

Feel like we got mugged!!! No fear of them for the next leg, very easy to nullify if you get your tactics right...

Reserves -

Murray Bridge Utd 0 - Simba of Congo 2

Two shots, two goals.. we did everything but score and have only ourselves to blame for the loss. A poor result in a game we bossed for the most part..

IMO Both refs (A's/B's) were playing to place their kids/grandkids to go to St Peter's!!! One player got booked for punching the ground because he was pissed with the ref's decision...

IMO St Peter's not that great, playing alot of looooong balls. IMO St Peters keeper saved their arses.

I don't think he actually got booked for that, there was a bit of cursing at the ref to along with it too though. Can't comment on the B's but the A's ref has no influence on the game, there were plenty of frees against both sides. You guys were whinging about nothing. Everyone thought there was a handball on the goal so you weren't too hard done by.

I can only recall our keeper making one save from close range, the other "saves" he made the ball wasn't even going in.

No probs, at least you didnt comment on playing for the draw and just kicking the shit out of the ball out of defence in the second half. IMO the 2 strongest teams in Div 1 A's played each other today.

SPOC 1 - 1 Villa
(reserves 1-2)
(c's SPOC v Cove 2-1)
A highly skilled game, and as has been said a tale of 2 halves with the Saints Keeper certainly getting in the best. However Villa needed to defend well as too and Rick Derosa would have been in my best for Villa keeping our forwards relatively quiet. A tough game though and credit to Villa for playing a nice brand of football.

It doesnt get any easier though with Modbury winning.... what a great thing Saturday is become much much stronger!!!

Adelaide Cougars 3 MA Hawks 1 (a)
Adelaide Cougars 1 MA Hawks 0 (b)

Another great day for the boys at the Cougar Cave!!!!
Both teams dominated in their games and fair results prevailed.
Was a must win game for both teams which nests us nicely on the right side of the ladder.
Good job boys!

Hard to pick best players for the a's as it was a good all round performance. MA Hawks bound to be one of our closest oppositions this year. They looked nothing close to us in skill and fitness. Credit this week goes to our coach Bomber. The hard work he has put into our fitness showed yesterday. We finished off the game to the 90th.

SCORERS: Ross Alessi (2)- Well done champ!
Nick Lalli (1) - Won the game for us in his half an hour of glory.
BOG (for me) 3. Daisy
2. Ross Alessi/ Marco- couldnt pick
1. Nick Lalli

A very disappointing result for us but credit to Modbury for taking the points and throwing open the table. I will try to put a report on here later when my mad house settles.
I watched the second half while my kids were playing on the playground. In 45 minutes I saw the crossbar and post hit, a goal disallowed and four goals that counted. Very entertaining indeed!
