just saw highlights, and that was never a penalty pretty sure the linesman had full view of fletcher getting the ball.

Man Utd destroyed Arsenal this morning & it was a definate penalty, tackled from behind & got the man before he got the ball. Fletcher is a bit part player anyway. Another trophyless season for Arsenal & Wenger, brilliant!

i didn't think it was a penalty, BUT he got the ball with the slightest of touches which would be hard to see for any ref.

Will be overturned before the final.

kEANO16, totally agree it was a harsh call. How many times do you see players tackle in the box, take a player down and ref and commentators say he got a slight piece of the ball!
I actually think the ref did not see him touch the ball because of the angle of Fletcher and Fabass. Wrong call IMO.

i reckon the penalty was harsh

he got the ball first

should it matter if he got a faint touch or if he smashed it away? i dont think it should

A bit harsh that DF has to miss the final...but that's football, if the referee deems it a foul as the last man he has to do what he did

I think we will be just fine, Arry has as moving in the right direction, with a full season next year we should be up with Everton and Villa. (which is where we would be if it wasn't for the start)

Back to Wenger, ppl on here were calling for his head at the start of the year, losing all those players and not replacing them....... I can see you guys buying Poulsen to partner fabass and maybe Richards to cover defensively, although i hope you sack Wenger. Maybe get Adams in.

Club is in crisis, we just got knocked out of the CL Semi's by last years winners and a team 12 points above us on the table with a game in hand, sack the coach!!

Wenger wouldnt give up on this team just yet & nobody within the club would sack him.

He does tho need to have a good look at the squad over the summer. No good having all these class attack minded players if we have no quality defenders keeping it tight at the back  & thats our problem

showed of late in the big games (chelski & ManUSA in both semi's & also the Anfield 4-4) that we cant keep clean sheets against the big teams with the current defenders within the squad

Our defence has been leaky since sol left! Against a top side we would rarely be confident of winning a game 1-0 after scoring early

Fan hangs himself in Kenya after Arsenal lose to Manchester United

From correspondents in Nairobi, Kenya
May 06, 2009

An Arsenal fan in football-mad Kenya hanged himself following his team's 4-1 aggregate drubbing by arch-rivals Manchester United in the Champions League semi-final, police said.

Suleiman Alphonso Omondi, a 29-year-old Kenyan living in the capital Nairobi's Embakasi neighbourhood, hanged himself in his Arsenal shirt after the match, police said.

"We were watching the match at Bamba 70 pub, and when Arsenal was defeated, Suleiman just walked out in protest and he was crying," Calvin Otieno, one of his friends, said.

"We didn't know he was going to hang himself until this morning when we received the reports and came here to find his body at the balcony," Otieno said outside the deceased's home.

Arsenal slumped to a 3-1 defeat at home in the second leg of the Champions League semi-final, capping a disappointing season for the Gunners who were already out of the Barclays Premier League title race early in the season.

Football-related domestic tragedies are frequent in the region, where English clubs enjoy passionate following and European games draw more attention than national and continental games.
