Night Games - Debacles

Post by SAD GAL »

I thought this issue warranted a separate topic.

I’ve been involved in the game for many years and in particular with playing in night games.

Apart from Adelaide City’s ground the lighting at other club venues especially Fulham and ESPECIALLY STURT is not very good at all. At least Fulham’s ground (excellent) and lighting is somewhat passable.

Add the Sturt lighting (lack of and poor) to the condition of their shocking paddock (aka playing pitch) you have a recipe for disaster. How the F can the federation allow a night game to be played at Sturt. Even in a dry winter it’s a mess. Add the element of rain, and its not on!!!

SAWSA’s lighting is ok however the change room facilities and pitch are POOR POOR POOR. The women’s game should not be played at STURT! Barely passable as a training venue.

i think sturt re-did theyre lighting
it's pretty good now.
i had a couple of night games there last year.

sawsa's change rooms aren't really that bad now either.

haha i think sad gal said fulham have crap lghts. but a good pitch so it wasn't as bad.

we have ok lights - i wouldnt say they are the worst.
and ur right we do have a good pitch for the amount of ppl that play on it. all our juniors, seniors, all the men, plus teams play on it on sunday, adel united train on it. so it gets a HUGE work out...

well if the lighting was a prob the federation wouldnt allow the game to be played.

uhm
are you sure?

remember last year playing at sawsa who have great lights, but there was no one with a key?
remember how sawsa is the worst pitch going around and semi's and stuff are played on there?

i wouldn't be surprised with anything that's let happen.

but yeah as far as i can remember nothign wrong with sturts lights

and yes. fulham do have a pretty good ground. esp considering a thousand people play on there.

all games should be played at a super league club with proper lights

a good question
technically it should be called that
although, aren't we still sawsa, just under ffsa? so maybe not

haha, or santos. or someone should take responsibility of sawsa's pitch instead of leaving it to the school.

that sounds like an awesome idea!
haha maybe we should pre approve refs though... so if we ever come across a decent one we'll let them ref our games haha.

Why doesn't the FFSA just use Stantos more often? Good pitch, good lights great changing room. Use the SAWSA's ground for training but this ground for games? So much better in all areas.

maybe they can't use santos often?
idk

santos is definatly the best pitch around. esp when its got great lights so can be used for night games.

Sturt's lights were too low and blinded you. Not high enough. If its changed then all good. If not then its not game standard. There is a minimum lux output requirement that my former club had to meet when it wanted to play night games.

SAWSA's ground changerooms are amongst the trees and with weirdos around the place, its NOT SAFE. Poorly lit and with syringes and used condoms around the place...it ain't healthy.

What's wrong with SANTOS. Make it the feature game of the month and play two games there. EASY!

well not easy if we can't use santos two times a month
have you ever though maybe sawsa has thought of this but can't get the ground?

and yeah, sawsa changerooms themselves do alright. but yes location is a little to be desired.

but if your going in as a team its not so bad. theres always parents and spectators around!

yeah different story if a girl wanders over there on her own to go to the toilet or something, but as changing rooms for entire teams they're not so bad!

Just like to add, Knights lights on their pitch, very good......

As for the SAWSA / FFSA pitch on Greenhill Rd, not safe at all. Pot holes etc in the pitch, wait till the night games, Im sure there will be rolled ankles.

and of all the games played there, night or day, how many drunken old men have you seen at the changerooms?
we all know the reputation those parklands have...
and who would be stupid enough to walk barefoot around there anyways...

walking from the pitch to the changerooms is hardly parklands. yeah its dark. but theres a pretty beaten track.

well who would be stupid enough to walk around in socks, and they'd have to be pretty dodgy thongs if a syringe came thru them...

you never did say though... how many drunken old men have you seen lurking at the changerooms?

the fact that there is a high possibility of syringes around the place is enough!. u cant say people dont walk around in just socks.

and it only takes one time for some drunken guy to come and do something and thats when change will happen!

just because u cant see them doesnt mean they arnt ther!..

so WHEN something happens, change will be made.
and yes, granted, that after somethings happened it will be too late, but the fact is that nothing has happened yet.

yes you can deem it unsafe, but you havent really got anything strong to go on other than your opinion of the place.

we know its not the most desirable area for changerooms etc, but its what we've got, and really, we're not using it all that often to really warrant stressing about it too much.
