Were both teams trying a new strategy of "no goalkeeper"?

How so?
Doesn't surprise me to be honest, after all, we are talking about SAWSA United, probably bribed the refs or made up another new rule to suit them.

0-0 and sturt keeper comes a good 5-10 yards out her box. fulham player with the ball and was clear of all defenders. keeper takes the player without taking the ball and was only yellow carded. after that sturt scored a free kick and a penalty and won 2-0....

the consistency with these refs is awful. last week we had a player sent off for barely even touching someone and she wasnt even the last player. as a keeper i have been told that if i choose to come out my 18yd box and i infringe with a field player when attemping to get the ball then its an immediate send off so therefore im always hesitant to come out which at times has cost us goals. to see what happened today and then the ref at the end of the game say to our coach "red was never in my mind" is an absolute joke

I dont normally whinge about the refs but this one today needs to take a massive look at himself. U dont deserve to be paid for that filth

also....there are many many cards handed out this season. I think our "ref" today handed out about 6....clearly forgot to pack his red when it was actually needed tho. frustration to the max

many red cards not given today @ sturt stadium, for both teams.
many offsides called wrongly.
many handballs ignored.

ref went gaga.

Cumby GK was taken out by Campbelltown player. Refs should protect players in particular GK's against attack to the body and not to the ball. Always bad to see GK's getting taken out that way.

saying that....keepers need to know how to protect themselves too. a lot of keeper/striker collisions are made worse for the keeper if they dont do the correct things to protect themselves

I hope she is ok tho

she got taken down by two players, the cumby defender, and c-town player. It was one big collision, but that c-town player is mates with her so she wasnt feelin 2 good after. Really was just one of those shit situations. Purely accidental

Felt sorry for her though she was in the worst state b4 she got taken away, couldnt breathe or move surely the coulda called an ambulance????

City 3
Metro 1

What happened??? Metro finally seem only human for the first time in the season! For once they don't crash the opposition, quite the opposite actually...

I was told by a person very close to one of the 2 clubs that Metro lost their first game quite deservedly against a good City. Good attacking play and build up and impressive goals by City. Apparently Metro weren't that dominant today and couldn't do much to stop the attacking force of their opponents...City was 3-0 and Metro only scored in the dying minutes.

Maybe a reality check for the Metro team...

And by the way, who was saying that City are going down on this forum??? If anything they seem to be the ones able to stop Metro so far!

Yeah was a big collision with the cumby keeper.

Considering the cumby ground is close to the hospital all we needed was a wheelchair. she was wheeled off to the hospital.

hoping she gets an all clear with just bruising!

Hello All,

I posted this yesterday but it doesn't appear to have come through so will retype message. I agree with Gubs in that yesterday in the Gardens v toros game the ref was terrible. Gardens had numerous calls which went agains them and would have every reason to be annoyed. The game ended 3 - 2 to Gardens and they deserved the win, however there were two big decisions which could have turned the game which the ref was involved in.

First the Toros keeper dropped a shot and as all good forwards should do, the gardens girl followed up. What happened next is beyond disbelief. As the gardens girl got up and the toros keeper and a toros defender were still on the floor the gardens player came up from behind the toros keeper and hitter her and then pushed her down to the ground again. The ref was all of 6 metres away and did nothing. In most games that would have been a straight red and in the very least the ref would have produced a yellow and a please explain but no nothing.

The second decision came when toros made a run to get back in the game. After being two down toros scored, then within a few minutes were in attack again and scored again. All toros players celebrated and made their way back to their half. Then and only then did the ref blow and point for off side. The girl that scored was no way off side (after the game the ref claimed it was another girl who passed to the scorer). Toros again within a few minutes scored again so the score could have now been 3-2 instead it was 2-2. To gardens credit they went up and secured the win by scoring. How costly was this disallowed goal? Having conceeded three goals in a space of 10 minutes could have knocked the stuffing out but instead only conceeding two kept them in the game.

To me the attack on the goalkeeper was cowardly and uncalled for, yet at the end of the game the gardnes players were more concerned with a toros player not shaking their hands. I agree players should shake hands but i think their coach should be more concerned with players in all sense of the game 'king hitting' a player while they are not looking. Gutless by that player and that could have ruined a good game.

Interested to see how other clubs would have re-acted to this hit. I will state one thing the reason there may not of been more concern was the hit didn't appear to be too hard however a hit is a hit and she was lucky to still be playing.

I'm sure gardnes will have their view but I can assure you this is correct.

In regard to a player hitting another player. i have to say this happened in the prems game of cumby vs campbelltown.
a campbelltown player fully charged into the back of a cumby player after the cumby player had won the ball and played it off up the line.
luckily for us we had a decent linesman who actually spoke to the ref about this incident and a yellow card was awarded, which i guess is better than nothing!

i just dont see why the game has to be bought into disrepute by a few players who simply get frustrated. we're all in it to enjoy the game, we dont need, as adelaidepie stated, cowardly hits on opposing players.

in any case, any situation like the ones mentioned should be taken care of by the refs, and by the sounds of it not all refs are willing to act to protect the players... why is that?

ref's - hahahahahaha

metro - they are allowed to lose one game!!
i guess fulham and metro are like two peas in a pod - when they lose a game (or even 4!!) people start questioning EVERY little thing...
City are a good team - why not give them credit instead of saying that Metro are human!

and you so love playing in goals Shorty!
at least your a good keeper as well though!
a true all rounder haha.

we've been lucky in that we've had a girl willing to play in goals for us, and then when steph came back after breaking her finger in preseason she stepped up and filled in for prems for us, so hopefully she'll recover quickly from her sore ribs and get back in for us by friday!

because people keep going on about how good metro are .. and how good they are on paper.. real madrid styles.
..of course people are gonna start saying crap.
