U/12 CUP Croydon (1) 0 Raiders (1) 3
Surprisingly easy win for Raiders, two evenly matched teams on ability and strength. IMO it was a battle of coaches knowledge and know-how, and Roger the Dodger failed miserablly.

Some of these scores are massive!! I realise it's between all divisions (A, B & C) but are the teams that are getting a hiding, really that lower in skill (sounds better than "bad")?
Who?... Who is but a form, followed by the function of what... And what I am, is a man in a mask!

Watched the Adelaide City 13As vs Croydon 13Ds match. Didn't really think Croydon were that 'bad' against what was a well drilled Adelaide City squad.Squizzy wrote:Some of these scores are massive!! Maybe the skill levels of the Croydon players are not where they should be yet, but I'd expect to see quite a few of them playing at higher levels as they develop over the coming years.

Watched the video of the game; Yes, Raiders definitely out played Croydon.harrycripps wrote:U/12 CUP Croydon (1) 0 Raiders (1) 3

I particularly enjoyed the way some of the Raiders players use the professional foul No.3 running into the back of the legs of a Croydon player running at goals, holding his arms up just before the collision in an expression of 'its an accident'. Not blaming the kid, team or coach as that is part of the game, but the referee should have issued a warning and possibly a yellow for taking away a goal scoring opportunity. This wasn't the only incident like this so don't bother explaining it away.
Saying that though; Raiders had better control of the ball, used it well with precise distribution and deserved to win. Congratulations!

I cannot comment on the above situation but generally speaking a goalkeeper cannot be cup tied provided he meets the age eligibility and plays as a goalkeeper.Filikis Eterias wrote:Campbelltown 16 Keeper played 2 days earlier for SASI in the Cup.BocaChiefs wrote:U14s

I think you will find sgt peppers, thats if he goes up and down with the same club. He should not be able to play for two different club sides!!sgt peppers wrote:I cannot comment on the above situation but generally speaking a goalkeeper cannot be cup tied provided he meets the age eligibility and plays as a goalkeeper.Filikis Eterias wrote:Campbelltown 16 Keeper played 2 days earlier for SASI in the Cup.BocaChiefs wrote:U14s

Goalkeepers can move unhindered from 17's to Seniors & vica versa as long as them meet the age criteria.
I believe the FFSA will announce soon playing in Cup for SASI will not prohibit you from also playing for a club in the Cup. This will open a huge can of worms.

Re: Cup Results - 19/4
Watch the video again, the Croydon defender had no idea how to stop the no11 of Raiders (yes my son), so decided to give him a bear hug when he could get close to him. Listen to the constant "profesional advice' from the Croydon coach to the ref. The best one when he screamed that a parent was coaching the Raiders goalie standing beside the goal. What he didnt realise was that it was a Croydon parent who actually told the goalie to leave it when the Croydon kid hit the bar. He screamed out that an offside call by the linesman was wrong, watch the video again. It was the Croydon coach who was trying 'professional" intimidation of the young ref. The Croydon kids deserve better.Watched the video of the game; Yes, Raiders definitely out played Croydon.

I've got no idea what you're talking about in regards to the No.11, the coaching advice or the parent/keeper :?
Watching the video was very handy as I did not see the game but the information I received from several people painted a bad picture. On reviewing the tape (several times) I could see that some people overreacted to decisions.
As I have mentioned; Raiders were the better team. I would only like referees to offer more advice to players that are caught either accidentally or deliberately fouling.
Another example; a player wins the ball, shows some fantastic moves on passing a defending player, the defending player is putting fair pressure on to the ball players right side while running down the wing only to have another player come in with hip and shoulder - crunching the ball player. The way the player walks off, with no care for the fouled player and quickly as the referee comes over looks like a 'professional foul.
Again a free was given but no information to the offending player as to why the free was given.
Again, as I have mentioned; what happened is part of the game, I'd just like to see referees explaining their decisions to the players, it only takes a minute.

Why did you particularly enjoy that, are you looking for excuses? Who is turning a positive in to a negative?I particularly enjoyed the way some of the Raiders players use the professional foul No.3 running into the back of the legs of a Croydon player running at goals, holding his arms up just before the collision in an expression of 'its an accident
You are trying to insinuate that the Raiders team were being underhand and that the ref didnt pick up on it. What comments did you hear that painted a bad picture. No doubt the kids were told that they were cheated out of it, as they have been told on other occasions when they havent won that I have witnessed. They need to know when they are outplayed and learn from it.

Why did I enjoy it?
- It was funny to watch and I had a laugh to myself when I saw the player close in behind the attacker, lift his arms like "oops, accident) and colide with the legs. It was funny and as I have said "part of the game".
It was also amusing how players held onto the ball when it was the opositions throw in and then threw the ball to the ground.
The ball that was kicked away when it was a free kick
To clear up the issue a bit more - I found some of the Raiders incidents enjoyable because it reminded me of an adult game, there wasn't too much to find amusing about the Croydon team because the looked to have a bad game.
If you'd like I'll post up the said incidents as small video clips on youtube for you to have a laugh; sounds like you need one.
Re: Cup Results - 19/4
Maybe I have come across wrongly; I don't know if the incidents were accidents or on purpose (it doesn't matter), whatever they were they are part of the game that players must learn and that referees and/or coaches explain (however it is hard for a coach to see and do everything).harrycripps wrote:
The coach may have explained why the fouls were given, I don't know but I do know that the referee said nothing to the players. I'd like to see referees be part of the teaching process in the junior levels.
Good luck to all the teams that remain in the cup!
