DIV II

A: Vipers FC 5 Monarchs 1
B: Vipers FC 4 Monarchs 5

Great game from the A's, 4-0 up at the half, some quite superb passing to lead up to 4 of the 5 goals including a nice backheel from Agalidis. Matsouliadis with 2, Jaric, Ganiaris and Rosco with the goals.

Thanks to the Monarchs, great game.

Can only comment on the games I saw....

As
I didn't watch, but apparently we finished with 9 men and had a dubious goal disallowed whilst their first was scored in exactly the same manner. I saw the Breakers last goal, and was told that we had fought from 2-0 down to 2-2. They scored with about 1 minute left.

Bs
I reffed this game so I can comment. Breakers started extremely well and took a deserved lead. Iggies scored a lucky goal before the break. In the second half, Iggies came out firing and scored the second early. There was a bit of a midfield tussle for a while, but the majority of the ball was in Breakers' half. As they began to tire, they got exposed at the back and Iggies were able to score a 3rd and 4th (one a tap-in, and the other was a one-on-one with about 5 to go).

Well in to the Breakers today, good people and supported the BBQ well. The B grade had an old bloke playing at the back who had some sublime skills!

Cs
I played in this game. Before I begin, let me start by saying that the referee did not have his best performance. He disallowed a perfectly good goal and yellow-carded a player for time-wasting after the ball had been kicked across the road into somebody's front garden It was a scrappy match, and Simba had the majority of possession in the first 20 minutes. However, like most African teams they attempted to pass the ball into the net rather than shoot. Our CB managed to clear two off of the line after Simba danced around everyone and attempted to a pass it in. After that we were on top the rest of the first half, and had quite a few good opportunities.

In the second half we scored within 5 minutes. Unfortunately the referee chose to trust the linesman (which is his prerogative) and blew it for offside, even though our player clearly and blatantly came from behind the Simba defender to win the ball. For the rest of the match it was a scrap, as really high feet and bad tackles went unpunished by the referee, and every 50-50 seemed to go to Simba. Simba had two or three chances late on to steal the points, but our keeper kept them at bay. A point earned, I think, as opposed to a point lost, as were missing 4 guys at a wedding.

D
I didn't see this game as I was reffing the Bs, but I heard they were 2-0 down at half time and came back to win 3-2, with the infamous Hawkesy winning a penalty.

E
I ended up being the quasi-coach for this game, as our player-coach did his knee. I missed parts of it as I was running around organising team sheets and cards for the Bs as we were meant to have an official ref turn up to do it (organised with the league) and he didn't. It finished 3-3 and was a great hit-out for our Es team. BOSA were a good bunch of blokes and the game was played in good spirits. Thanks to BOSA for supporting the bar as well. It is a shame we won't meet again this year in the Cs.

Apparently Africa v Sturt was abandoned just before halftime after a pitch invasion from the African sideline. Sturt were leading 2-1.

Gleeson 0 - BOSA 6 (2-1)

Probably don't need to elaborate much on the first team game, I think the score speaks for itself.

B's was another frustrating day in the office with silly mistakes and poor finishing costing us the game.

Yep. Unfortunate that this game was called off.

Full credit to the ref who gave the game a chance to continue, however the feuding players continued to start trouble off the pitch, leaving him no choice but to abandon the game.

No hard feelings to Navarino who came out playing hard. Sorry to see that there was a lack of discipline from individuals on both sides.

So does that mean a repeat performance mid week at amateur league HQ?? Where do you go from here? or does the result stand?

What happened in the ressies?

I very much doubt they'll have the game replayed. I think will all come down to what the referee puts in his report. Once he decided he was going he grabbed his bag and left. Left Bodo and his counterpart still holding their linesman's flags. I swung past the Allstars' ground afterwards and there wasn't a sole to be seen, so I presume that the reports of that game being abandoned are true.

Ressies Adelaide won 2-1.

very good team are villa as long as they are up at half time, which they deserved to be! class midfield but sangers must be the softest big guy we have ever played against(dived and whinged all day) must have been his time of the month! i think it was tony skalzi who scored the 2nd goal but it was a winner flicking th ball up with the right foot then left foot over the player to a right foot volley from the corner of the box, best goal i have seen for a long time!

I came to watch after my own game at Sturt Marion and the game was underway when I arrived. Adelaide were up 1-0 at the time. Not long after Navarino equalized with a cracker of a goal and that's how the first half finished. We bundled in a winner after the break.
