Asssnal interested in Fernando Muslera.
I take it any young Lazio player who starts to show some promise, Wenger takes an interest in?? That makes 3 for the season.

Re: Arsenal FC 2008/2009
'These young players always find an answer'
On securing a vital away draw…
“Both teams played well at a high tempo and in an offensive way. Villarreal started stronger than us and the early goal made it very difficult. But In the second half, it was a great response and we took over. It puts us in a great position, but we want to qualify at home and to repeat the type of performance we did in the second half.
On the chances of progressing in eight days time…
"I am confident, [because of] the quality we have shown added to the mental strength and desire we have shown. But we know Villarreal are a good team as well, so we will be on our toes and focused at Emirates. We have a little chance to recover some players who are out as well. But before that we have a big game at Wigan and we need not to lose other players."
On the character shown by his young side to bounce back…
"This team has shown the whole season they are mentally very strong and when they have back to the wall, these young players always find an answer which is very interesting for a young team. I believe we have created momentum. We are a very young team, but are able to focus. We have shown with the consistency we have in the Premier League that we are able to concentrate every three days, and at that age, that is a big quality."
On Emmanuel Adebayor’s spectacular volley…
"It was a great goal, but it was a great game as well. [The goal] was unexpected. At the start his body was a bit in the wrong position to score, but he managed to turn that into an advantage for him. After we had many dangerous situations where we could have scored a second goal."
On the injuries to William Gallas and Manuel Almunia…
"With Gallas, it looks quite serious and could be medial knee ligament injury. We will have to assess it. I am not a doctor, but the first signs do not look too good. Manuel is a reoccurrence of an ankle injury, which probably will be a couple of weeks."

Gibbs might have been lucky not to get a red, but Fabianski probably would have got the ball first anyway. At least Wigan's pitch wasn't the usual pig paddock this timedelfino_1936 wrote:2 englishmen started!

Re: Arsenal FC 2008/2009
CESC READY FOR CRUNCH PERIOD
Cesc Fabregas wants Arsenal to go unbeaten until the end of the campaign in a bid to answer their early-season critics.
The Gunners have failed to mount a serious Premier League title challenge this term, but are in the FA Cup semi-finals and in a strong position to reach the same stage of the Champions League.
Arsene Wenger's men have not lost in the league since November after a period when William Gallas was replaced by Fabregas as the club's captain.
Fabregas has recently returned from almost four months out with a knee injury and is now eager to finish the season in a positive fashion.
"It's quite good what we have done, but it is not enough," said Fabregas. "We want to go all the way.
"We have said to ourselves we do not want to lose another game before the end of the season and that's what we will try to do. Of course, we cannot say for definite that will happen. But that's the aim, for sure. That has been our intention.
"We have done it during the past few weeks. We just need to keep it going for a few weeks more."
Arsenal face Villarreal in the second leg of the Champions League quarter-final on Wednesday with the tie at 1-1 before meeting Chelsea in the FA Cup semi-finals on Saturday.
Title contenders Liverpool await in the Premier League next week and Fabregas is looking forward to the upcoming fixtures.
He added: "It is a good 10 days we have coming up now. We will play three very important matches for the players and the club that will decide our season and where we can go.
"I'm very confident that if we keep going and playing like we are doing, we can do well.
"We have been playing quite well throughout the whole season, yet for some reason some people decided to go a little bit against us. Some people tried to create a little bit of a bad atmosphere.
"We can answer them by winning things and that's what we are aiming to do over the remainder of the season. That's why these next few days are key for us.
"We have Villarreal in the Champions League, then Chelsea, an amazing team, in the FA Cup semi-final. We still have a big say in the season."

YEA!!!!!!!
looks like another year in Europe for the Gunners and their faithful
poor Villa i said at the start when everyone was getting excited that Aston Villa were going to qualifiy and not Arsenal, Aston Villa are not experienced enough to challenge for a top four finish plus they dont have enough depth to go the full season.
Who knows we might get third if things go our way![Smile :)](./images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)

Re: Arsenal FC 2008/2009
looking forward to the game in the morning
Some big players have returned for us in the last couple of weeks & now the defence falls over with 3 out of the back 5 ruled out! Sienna a big out for them so that evens it out slightly
think Wenger will revert back to 4-4-2 cause were at the Emirates
------------Fabzinski----------------
Sagna----Toure--Silvestre----Gibbs---
Walcott---Cesc---Denilson----Nasri
--------Ade--------------RVP-----
I would like to see Song come into CB with Silvestre push onto the left. Gibbs is good but Silvestre gives you that exerience but Wenger does love to chuck kids into big games
2-1 win but a clean sheet would be even better

That sets Arsenal up for a few big weeks.
Chelsea in the FA cup, Liverpool in the EPL, and Man U in the CL....
I thought they played a good solid game this morning, they keep the ball very well for an english team.
EDIT: I swear i didn't see that Fabregas article before posting that last sentence![Embarassed ](./images/smilies/icon_redface.gif)

Re: Arsenal FC 2008/2009
Forward Zak Ansah has collected the Lamb Awards sponsored Young Guns Player Of The Month crown for April 2009, after comfortably making the step up to Under 18’s football and for bagging a classy brace on his first start.
The 14-year-old was playing for the Under 15’s at the start of the season, but will finish this break through campaign as a reliable option for Steve Bould’s Under 18’s as they retained the Group A League title.
Zak - the son of much travelled former Southend midfielder Andy Ansah - celebrates his 15th birthday on Monday, and he’ll no doubt look back on the last 12 months with pride after earning himself the guarantee of a scholarship deal in another years time. Boasting pace, power, agility and a knack for being in the ‘right place at the right time’ the young poacher is immensely talented.
The month began a little slow for Zak, but it quickly picked up pace. After playing a part in the Under 16 side which faltered in the Nike Cup, the striker made the bench for the Academy fixture with Crystal Palace. The Gunners romped home with Ansah playing the final 15 minutes - and impressing.
Seven days later Bould handed him his first start in an extremely youthful XI. Two goals in five minutes from the quick-silver forward on the hour mark secured the win either side of Chuks Aneke and Benik Afobe efforts. It was an emphatic way to mark your first start.
Zak then flew off to Italy for the Atalanta Cup, but after elimination at the hands of Inter Milan, the month came to an end on a sour note. But the signs are certainly there that he has a rather bright future, and you’re certain to be hearing a lot more about this youngster in the coming months.
