from my info around the traps defintely a top 3 finish and have the team to take the title but having never won a DIV 1 title the question will be do they have it mentally when the pressure is on in the last third of the season.
From what i saw today they will have their work cut out for them to win the league. Villa totally outplayed them hitting post and crossbar 3 times but couldn't capitalise on their many chances. All they spent to bring that team together doesn't look to be well spent to me.

Still early days but going to be hard for any team to catch them now.
Maybe 3 games in 7 days has taken its toll on the players, especailly
the olders one's e.g Butler, Fuda, Reeves.
The Downs would be loving that result and even at this early stage of the season it would take a brave man to say Villa can come back from 8 points down to win the league.

Another misinformed twit, the Downs resources are the same as last year and the year before. Downs went out with two objectives on sunday, that was 3 points and concede no goals. We couldnt have wished for any more. Av metro will thump most sides including Inter next week. Tommy Radford got the goal and a cracker at that. The game was ruined by the referees whistle been blown every 30 seconds. Frustrating for both teams and spectators when the ref is the centre of attention.

I wont get into a debate about resources but i will say this, on reflection some players in the past were overpaid. our players are not at the Downs for money and some players, believe it or not dont want bonus's. There is a great team spirit at the club and everyone puts in. When sixty players train in rain on a thursday night the atmosphere is electric. Good food ,good company and cold beer = team spirit. Nothing to do with $$$$.

Good result for the Downs against last years winners Villa but i beleive that was the Downs First real test of the season (having played the 3 bottom teams in the first 3 rounds)- i reckon there are bigger test coming just around the corner...
