"very youthful Sunday Div 2 B Grade year in 09."
Imanoutlaw,
West beach will bring up the average age of the DIV 2 B grade to around 35 years old..

Re: trial games
I saw half of Macedonia's team in Melbourne at the game.
Doubt that's anywhere near their full potential.

Can only really comment on the A's, vista were 2 nil up, then 2-2, then the ref blew his whistle. nothing much else really happened.
A's:
Munno Para: 2
Modbury Vista: 2
A game of 2 halves with Vista playing very good looking football displaying pleanty of effective one touch moves which in turn allowed them to use the ball and reserve fitness. In turn a well worked move down the left hand side resulted in a goal to put Vista up 1 - 0.
In the second half it was a different story Vista resorted to their long ball tactic and Munno para were able to keep the play in Vista's half until a quick break saw Vista take a 2 - 0 lead. After squandering numerous "half chances" with poor crossing and positioning Munno Para then worked the ball nicely to produce a lifeline bringing them back in to the game at 2 - 1. Vista then playing the 1 touch football that put them 2 goals up created several chances that they were unlucky not to convert. Munno Para were able to catch Vista on the break and "tired" legs from vista allowed players to sneak in behind what looked like a "make-shift" sweeper position to convert what would have been maybe their 4th or 5th chance of the game.
B's:
Modbury Vista 2
Munno Para 3
In what could be mistaken as a Colts game (no disrespect) of the 22 players that took the field there was an average age of about 18. A very scrappy game to say the least with poorly time challenges and adventageous shots made for a very interesting game to the neutral on lookers. I doubt both coaches would agree as their teams time and time again played their way into trouble and made simple errors leading to the goals. In a game with two penalties there really wasn't anything or anyone who stood out with almost every player on the park making one or two schoolboy errors. All in all not a bad hitout for the two sides and after seeing the TTG, Munno Para and Modbury Vista B sides it could be a very youthful Sunday Div 2 B Grade year in 09.

You must have been watching the wrong game (A's) cause from what i could see Para should have been 3 or 4 - 0 up at half time, but having said that it was a great game its good to see all the boys hard fought pre-season paying off with 3-4 of our starting 11 players not playing the signs look good, we've got great depth at Munno Para

Re: trial games
Good hit out for westies last night against Modbury (super league). Drew 1 all. Suprising how you can lift against quality opposition although westies seemed to get a couple of injuries. Modbury would want to improve if they are to stay in superleague.
Re: trial games
great result for westies. hope the injuries werent to bad with season getting close

MR X,
Apparantly it was most of Modbury's frist team for the coming season playing last night, if it is they're going to have a long hard season in the superleague.
Injures not to bad, all players will recover before the start of the season.
The boys are stepping it up and starting to play some good football, both teams had chances last night and could have won it but it was an excellent from the West with a lot of players stepping up to the plate (Hi Leon).
I've finally got some games under my belt and the hammie is holding up not to bad thanks to our new trainer, who knows I might even get a run against the Farmers if we have about 6 injuries..........

Re: trial games
That is what someone said after the game but I don't believe it given that I have seen most of the players playing and they would more likely be their reserves. Scott Lindsay, Chris Dean, Paul Reilly possibly being the exceptions (ie first team players).King Kenny wrote:MR X,

Most of the others that I can remember seeing have been in 19s & Reserves the last couple of years. If that were their first team they would get spanked at super league level.
Re: trial games
Friday night Salisbury Villa (A's) made the trip up to Western Strikers - first hit-out of the pre-season.
Seeing the early form of Strikers and the first game of 09 it was a good result.
2-0 down early in the 2nd half, salvaged a 2-2 draw and were generally unlucky not to win it.
Friday night play BOSA at Villa - B's at 6.30 A's at 8.15
