FOURTH TEAM at ROCSCfutcha wrote:Does anyone know who the coach will be for 4th side?
ROCSC are proud to announce they will be entering a fourth team in
the Collegiate Soccer League for season 2009.
Due the large influx of new players, and past players returning,
the club has decided enter a fourth team which will play in the 4th division of the CSL,
and the C Team will move up to the 3rd division of the CSL.
The coach of the new ROCSC's D Team will be Joe Franco.
With the emergence of the fourth team, it also provides the opportunity
for anyone still considering to play in season 2009 for ROCSC
that they will be more likely to get a game. Spread the word!
Re: Rostrevor Old Collegiate
4 teams, you would think such a BIG club would try and get out of being a big fish in a little pond wouldn't you. I guess it's too easy to pick up easy trophies in the kiddies league.
Can this be moved from the amateur league forum!

Get off it Hawksey......
You have no idea how "easy" the CSL is, in fact didn't you blokes get relegated from Saturday Div 1???
The same division that was one by the Wanderers team that couldn't finish above 4th in the CSL, before moving to the softer Saturday Amateur League competition.
However, I do agree maybe the topic of anything CSL shouldn't be on the Amateur League forum and should move under the FFSA banner

CSL is soft as butter compared to Saturday amateurs. Also, there is no comparison between the old Uni Blue of the CSL and the current Wanderers team.JWA wrote:Get off it Hawksey......

Apart from being the same club, your spot on Aldo...........................
I know players change, but from seeing them last year..... They were not that different.
Played in both leagues and reckon CSL is harder and tougher, with less slaying and gutless challenges

Re: Rostrevor Old Collegiate
The CSL tougher . Everytime I have played against collegiate sides they have whinged about people actually making tackles. I have played both and can assure you, the kiddy league is not as tough and not as skillful.JWA wrote:Apart from being the same club, your spot on Aldo...........................

As for us getting relegated from division 1, yes that's correct but then we are playing in a real league.

Re: Rostrevor Old Collegiate
only 2 seasons ago both Rostrevor and Mercedes advanced in the Federation Cup.
Rostrevor comfortably beat Gawler then lost to Salisbury on penalties after drawing 1-1 after 90 mins and extra time.
Mercedes beat a state league team then lost to a premier league team in next round.
so the CSL can't be that "soft" now can it?

Re: Rostrevor Old Collegiate
ur missing the point, theyre saying the general standard of the league is soft / poor bar few teams like Mercs (which is the truth) & if they wanted real competition then they should switch to saasl like SPOC / OISC / Blackfriers as it is a better standard (again the truth).German Gustavo Denis wrote:only 2 seasons ago both Rostrevor and Mercedes advanced in the Federation Cup.

Re: Rostrevor Old Collegiate
rostrevor played adelaide villa in another trial match,
the c's and b's of villa destroyed rostrevor i think in 4-0 and 5-1 scores respectively to the home side but it did not reflect the play as rostrevor found the wind and ground a bit fustrating and were in front of goal many a time but unable to finish. The A grade lost only 2-0 and fought hard.

Re: Rostrevor Old Collegiate
True Uni Blue never won the CSL in my time there, but they did win the Cup after knocking out Mercs (who were by far the best team in the CSL going about at the time) in the process.
The teams that Wanderers have put out since joining the SAASL have been far stronger, with I would say 3 to 4 players at most from the CSL days still running about.
In all honesty when Uni Blue were in the CSL the only teams that would ever have possibly won Div 1 would have been us, ROCS, Mercs or possibly Unley, whereas this year in Div 1 Sat take your pick out of Wanderers, St.Peters, BOSA, Villa, Stirling, Sturt Marion etc. etc.
Although I agree that there are some quality individuals playing within the CLS, there is no doubt that the depth of talent in the SAASL is by greater by far.

Re: Rostrevor Old Collegiate
absolutely agree. Uni Blue were a good team, great rivarly with ROCS. amateurs is harder physically, collegiate league (top 4 teams) are technically better i'd say. its all fun. definetely some great individuals in CSL as well as amateur leagues that could easily step up to at least state league, most just dont have time to train the extra night or 2 a week.nico wrote:True Uni Blue never won the CSL in my time there, but they did win the Cup after knocking out Mercs (who were by far the best team in the CSL going about at the time) in the process.
