Not much imagination involved in these videos...but good to hear these songs again.

Read it in books :D
I played bass (I'd never usually played bass before) in a band called The Hop around about 1983 with Paul Burton, Patrick Loughrey (both from the Milky Bar Kids), Mike Rawlinson, Ralph Maby and a drum machine. We used to play that song....even played it live on local radio.....memories!

Ian McCulloch wrote that with Julian Cope. The Teardrop Explodes also recorded it, but they titled it simply as "Books".

I still have a recording of our "live to air" version of the song...I should make a YouTube of it just for fun.
Found some videos of Paul Burton with his band The Shuffle Kings...bit different from the edgy "punk" styled musician I knew.
He's even played with John Williamson :o .

Just paid $7 for a good quality s/h VHS video player/recorder and plugged it into my DVD recorder and I am transferring some old Videos to DVD.
I have about heaps of 6 hour tapes of Rage from way back.
Reminded me that i quite liked this song.

I pulled that out on you tube a week or two ago. Not sure if I posted it on here though. Don't know how many rage tapes you have but if you have the episode the The Jesus And Mary Chain programmed from 1997 (give or take a year) I'd like a copy of it. I'll do you a copy of Urgh A Music War if you want.

I'm not sure how many tapes either, big shed, lots of boxes.....the box I dicovered today has about 50 tapes x 6hrs :o
1 tape = 3 DVD's
I was overseas for the last 3 months of '97 and first 2 months of '98.

June 17th 1995 it was. It was one of the best episodes in my opinion. I also remember the Doors' keyboard player programming it later that year.

I remember the Ray Manzarek one and vaguely remember J&MC show.
Just found one marked October 1996 and another one with Jimmy Page & Robert Plant hosting.

They Ray Manzarek one had some good videos on it but his introductions to long as hell. He waffled on for ages about the potatoes at Echo And The Bunnymen's studio (The Ministry I think it's called) before playing their version of "People Are Strange".

Just found one with Paul McDermott & Mike Robbins hosting..
First song they picked was Johnny Goodman Show Band - Down By The Mill ( which is a song by "Sandman" that was released on Regular Records) I have a Regular Records Vinyl Sampler that has this song on it.
Filmclip features a young, thinner Mikey Robbins (1989).
Also a couple of tapes from 1994-1995 (15 years ago :o )

I admit I don't know that song. Speaking of Mcdermott and Robbins but coworkers of mine at Raging Thunder used to call me Flacco. I didn't know who Flacco was at the time. It wasn't until I moved to Brisbane that I found out who he was. I think it came down to me having an accent and nothing more.

With modified lyrics, this song would make a good Football chant...(minus the John "Deutschendorf" Denver intro.)
