If anyone needs to improve it would have to be the teams that finished lower than us last season. Some cracking signings already in the bag and yes it was money well spent. At the end of the day we would still be one of the most supported teams in Div 1 or Div 4. I suppose if times get tough we can have 2 shows a year and reap the rewards. 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8). goat and fritzzz yumo . know wonder your club is doing so well . the ideas just fly from it .

the vale had all the relagation bull shit put on it last year and look what happend .

should be a good laugh at the plyford games this year with half the team filled with amateur players from different clubs .

lets av it .

I think a lot of clubs have been guilty of paying players extra so probably no need to bait the Downs about it. Gardens aren't all that innocent Nugget :)

One is nearly a confirmed pick up. Extremly good midfielder coming back to the club.
Not telling you guy who yet until it actually happens, just seems the way to be done on this forum. haha

yeah very true. hopefully the pick ups will be usefull, as well as some of the younger lads stepping up.

I gues every club goes through these periods. Some more than others. We are a little unfortunate that our have not nesicarily left the club, but more retired. And also, im not sure how other clubs are with this, with the Current financial situation of the world, and companies like holdens backing off shifts etc. some players o were happy at clubs, now have to try elsewhere back in the feds coz the money is obviously better there. They still have their bills to pay.

It happens to every club at one point in time our was about 10-11 years ago we ended up getting relegated but were lucky enough to bounce back & win the league 2yrs later...

The lucky thing for the Downs is there supporter base that alone will keep them going;

Never fear though Rexie you've allways got JayWalking to blow wind up your arses

Do you really believe what he has says? My point was dont be critical of them doing so if they have because a lot of clubs do it.

Interesting to hear a former Div 1 coach is out at the Downs at the moment.

Steedy doesn't kick me, he elbows me

We have a good chat about how Centrals are going when we play against each other so don't mind playing against him. Plus he runs out of puff after half time so as long as I stay clear of him in the first half, he can't catch me in the second :D

Big Trev will more than likely be staying at Florina, personally I have always thought he would be a great asset up front for us.

We are still waiting on the return of a few players and hopefully be able to confirm a few new signings in the next few weeks.

Danny Hain from Raiders looks sharp and will be the ideal midfield replacment for Matt Blackwood. Tom Radford looked good at the internal on Sunday.

Daniel Ball also looked good and seems to have recovered from knee surjury and will compliment the midfield along with Edgy. Both Parisi twins looked good too.

This Thursday should see most out for training as we prepare for Adelaide Villa on Sunday.

Only Lee Cockerill , Brenton Aggars and Tony Reeves have left. Tony only played about 4 games last year. Lee is a great man marker and we will miss him and Brenton wants to give the feds a go and was absent for the latter part of the season. Shaun Butler is unsure at the moment as he has started a new business up and needs to do long hours but im confident he will be a part of the set up. Mark Kelly from what I here wants to play Ressies this year but would make a great last 20 min impact on any game at any level. Kraig Andrews is in England and im not sure when he gets back but he will return to us. We are in talks with a few players at the moment and rest assured Nugget you will be the first to know what happens. We also have some young lads I dont know much about that look sharp and seem very fit. Bert is as fit as ever and will play this year, why wouldnt he? On the financial side things are looking good and we have just signed Duncan Basheer Hannon as our major sponsor for the next three years. Maybe another Amateur League first for the Downs to have a major sponsor sign on for a three year deal?

There you go Nugget, now let me know what your lot are doing!

"rusty" is your new nickname Old Redback

Always do look rusty first internal Bert will shake that out of them though last nights 15 min run would have sorted a few out, to be honest Ive never seen Bert so fit. There will be some sore calves this morning. Oh I didnt see you there Redback!

We've been training hard in the heat for the last 5 weeks with fantastic numbers, last night we saw 35 running around.

We have 95% of our Cup winning squad training & we have picked up a heap of new players & a couple who are all class..... Watch This Space.....

All positive here at the GARDENS & barring the run off injury we had at the start of last season we'll be at the pointy end come September.....

So Bert going to be a player coach? Thats a very, very, hard thing to do.....

Unfortunately work committments kept me away last night marooned - it's normally laziness that keeps me away on a Tuesday and a desperation to stay away from the temptation of a couple of beers! Naturally I will be leading the run on Thursday night!

By the way I agree with your comments about some of the boys that looked pretty sharp and can really only think of one that was really far from his best! At least the others who may have been rusty had the good sense to stay away!

So Bert going to be a player coach? Thats a very, very, hard thing to do.....

So Is lapping men half his age on 15min runs but we are talking about Bert Fuda not Bert Newton.
