Liverpool Accept Tottenham's Robbie Keane Bid
The Reds are ready to send their struggling striker back from whence he came...
According to various sources in the English press, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur have agreed a £15 million deal that will see Robbie Keane return to White Hart Lane.
The Irish forward arrived at Anfield only six months, but he has failed to make an impact since his £20m dream move to the club he supported as a child.
And now, after being omitted from the Reds' critical 2-0 victory against Chelsea yesterday, the 28-year-old is expected to rejoin a Spurs side desperate for some attacking options.
The Lilywhites have already re-signed Jermain Defoe, but the England forward will miss the next three weeks through injury. That leaves only Darren Bent and Roman Pavlyuchenko up top, and that partnership hasn't gelled particularly well.
Thus, Spurs boss Harry Redknapp wants Keane to reclaim the second-striker role and forge an understanding with Pavlyuchenko that could prove as profitable as his much-heralded pairing with Dimitar Berbatov.
No word from either club as yet, though, so it remains to be seen whether the deal has actually been struck.

Keano having medical...
Cant believe im saying this but, not sure about this deal. When Keane left i would have given my left nut for him to stay, will he be able to find his previous spurs form again? Harry is the king of restoring careers and Robbie is in desperate need of restorations..

Re: Liverpool Accept Tottenham's Robbie Keane Bid
from the soccernet.com transfer blog. interesting facts there"Where were Liverpool in the standings when Keane was a regular? Since he has been unsettled in the team and left out of the squad Liverpool have slowly dropped down the table and will continue to. They even stayed top while Torres was njury pleagued the first half of the season. Number of goals is not everything. Not only does Keane take pressure off of Torres, he frees up room for Kuyt to push forward down the right, and Gerrard in support. It always takes time for players to settle. Especially strikers. He was with Spurs for so long that it could take a year to become completely confident in the new system and players. A longer grace period should have been given and more support. Benitez's grace period has long passes, and is still is a bum. Benitez is the one Liverpool should be offloading this transfer window."

don't think he'll re-sign imho but you never know
edit: seems like i'm already wrong
15.54: Finally, things are happening. Liverpool and Spurs have agreed a fee for Robbie Keane so he has just over an hour to complete the move.
Liverpoo are 's if they get rid of him

don't know how we're going to challenge for the title with two out and out strikers, with only one of them being good enough

Glad he went back or he could of joined the long list of players who's playing career Benitez has ruined by playing them out of posistion or rotating to often.

Keane, Pavlochenko,Defoe and Bent.
Doers that mean Rednap will now play two up front instead of his defensive 4-5-1 he started against Bolton.
What happens to Del Santos now, he has been seen for ages, surely on way out in summer?

Why not? He is the manager, he should have great interest in seeing his players careers further within their club. But benching a major signing and constantly playing them out of posistion certainly is not going to help.Levendi wrote:it's not benitez's responsibility to further a player's careerIan_Wright wrote:Glad he went back or he could of joined the long list of players who's playing career Benitez has ruined by playing them out of posistion or rotating to often.

his job is to make the team play well. if the board want to start signing players instead of the manager, then they'll soon find out those players don't fit into the way the team plays.Ian_Wright wrote:Why not? True. Seems to be one of the big issues at Liverpool, the fact that the manager is not getting enough say in who the club signs.

I think you will find that you did plus some as you were paying in instalments with a significant payment still due. I guess Liverpool did not want to outlay that payment. Time will tell.povman_2009 wrote:We didn't even get our money back, should have still been under warranty shouldn't he?

Krisztian Nemeth will undergo an operation this week after fracturing a cheek bone while playing for Blackpool in their 3-0 defeat to QPR on Tuesday night.
Nemeth, who was the star of Gary Ablett's title-winning reserves last season, started a one-month loan stint with the Championship outfit on January 26 and came off the bench to make his debut for the Seasiders a day later.
But the Hungarian striker took a knock to the face a few minutes after coming on in the second half and now faces up to six weeks on the sidelines after a scan revealed he had suffered a fractured cheek bone.

So if Torres gets injured, which is a real possibility. you guys drop out of the title race all to easy, who gets the blame? Rafa? Parry? Gillete?
Its a big drop of the ball, you could have atleast got someone in on loan, like JO.

Re: Liverpool Accept Tottenham's Robbie Keane Bid
Hopefully Robbie can recapture his previous form for us, he is lucky that his first game back is against Ar5ena1, this is a real opportunity for him to get into the fans goodbooks again if he scores..
Dissapointed that he is cup tied for the CC final, he played 3 minutes at Crewe and because of that he misses the final so we only have Pav and Bent who can play that now, assuming Defoe doesnt miraculously recover in time (fingers crossed).
I am assuming that he can play in the Uefa Cup? Conformations on that one?

So do Spurs have any plan for what type of team they are trying to put together? because it sure as hell doesnt seem like it.
Keane-Defoe-Pavlyuchenko-Bent.. will 'Arry be playing with 3 strikers or will he make a couple of them sad on the bench.
