Re: Adelaide City U/16 and U/17 R looking For Players
No never went back to city coz they screw over players.
I had been screwed over there about 5 years ago now.
I also have mates/relatives/ and people i know of who are top players now playing in State teams or in the Sasi teams which got screwed over by City and especially Mark "tool" Zito.

Good on those players that went on, maybe Mark had a hand in this when they got cut eh
The rest is a bit of a joke as I cant remember the last time City advertised! All good
Re: Adelaide City U/16 and U/17 R looking For Players
I know a lad who priced going there in the U17s, just as an exercise as he's already with another club - $1000 WITHOUT any kit (playing shirt, socks, etc). It's expensive all right.portobello wrote:it costs $950 for an U13 this year. What a bargain!Iamthelaw wrote:what is the cost to put your child in an AC under 16s or 17s team? anyone?

Teddles, i believe you have been misinformed.Maximum outlay is $860.
500 rego 360 for tracksuit,polo,2 playing tops etc etc. This price is for newcomers.Your following year you can save the expense of tracksuits, bags etc

I'm glad to hear it, $860 is still expensive but not excessive. I forget what I had to pay at my club - I just handed over the money and tried to forget the whole traumatic experience, but I think it was a hundred or so less. Still a hell of a slug when you're on stuffall income and trying to raise two kids but what do you do? Tell the lad he can't play? If he's good enough to make the team, you find the money.
Oh gawd, this reminded me that I have to kit out the lad - boots, shin pads, million miles of electrical tape ...
This time of year is not a good time to be a football parent. Preseason training three times a week ... and it's too hot to enjoy it. Kit to buy. Fees to pay. The mix of kids in the team has changed from last year so you have to learn a bunch of new faces but the lad knows them all and expects you to as well, not to mention having to befriend a new bunch of parents. There aren't any games to compensate (I don't mind all the running around when there's a game on the weekend) and when the trial games do start they'll be at a moment's notice at weird times and strange places. I'll be so glad when the season proper starts.
Re: Adelaide City U/16 and U/17 R looking For Players
I’m sorry your kidding yourself if you think nearly $900 is not excessive. Both my sons’ fees came to $700 ($360 and $340) and believe me mate it was hard to find that.
And before you ask they are both playing in (A) division and get a kit that comprises shorts 2x socks, polo top, spray jacket, tracksuit and large kit bag. Ok they don’t get the jersey to keep but even if you put the price of them on you would be only talking about $80 more prob less for me, as one is a keeper and would use his own top.
Their training is as good if not better than any thing from any other club out there, with the gk getting specialized training from a top GK coach each week (for the last two years anyway).
Excessive? you bet it is

I believe registration with FFSA is $23 per child, is the remaining $477 shipping & handling fees?van gaal wrote:Teddles, i believe you have been misinformed.Maximum outlay is $860.

or is it to cover the great facilities that the AC juniors have??????
Re: Adelaide City U/16 and U/17 R looking For Players
sir alex, 500 can be excessive and yes the federation fees can only be $23 but just like any business you still have to pay for the lease of the grounds, electricity, water bill, operational costs, coaches etc.
Yes these prices can be steep but ill rather pay the money to watch my son play a sport outdoors than keep feeding him with $140 play station games locked away in his room

Did someone forget to plug in the pokies this week ?
Re: Adelaide City U/16 and U/17 R looking For Players
We all want our kids outside playing sports, but we can do it for a lot less than $900, shite man we can do it for nothing, so dont use that old argument to justify the fees, think of a new one.
Oh! on second thoughts
shit it its your money not mine

Re: Adelaide City U/16 and U/17 R looking For Players
Maybe AC should look into some of the reasons the BEST club doesn't have a full squad at this critical age...
Re: Adelaide City U/16 and U/17 R looking For Players
cityno.1 we are looking for about 3-4 player over all.how many positions do you have available in the under 17's? and what details can u give us for trying out

I think you will find that myself and a few others are astounded that a strong club like AC is struggling to fill their teams. The guys who are on about the money may be thinking this is part of the reason. Maybe it is maybe it isn't. It could just be a sign of the times that kids in upper high school years are under increasing pressure to perform at school to ensure they have a good future.needplayers wrote:sorry all this was only a post to look for players to play soccer/football in 2009. Matey, I think I get what you are trying to say but as you probably don't have one child playing sport, let alone 2, perhaps you could cut the very naive comments about family budgeting out.thierry14 wrote:WHAT THE HELL!

As for the cost, while we've never been tempted to go to City we have known people who either left because of the expense or chose not to go there because of the expense. To be fair though, that was in the younger age groupings. Once you get to U17 level you're looking towards the senior teams and the cost is less important (provided you can find it), you choose the club more on where it can take you than anything else.
On the other hand, maybe City just fell foul of some aggressive team selection policies, they wouldn't be the only club that picked a full squad late last year only to have a couple drop out.
