youngsters shine for heidelber alexander!!!
15 Year Old Josh Groenwald made a stunning debut for the bergers in this critical elimination final against Kingston. His debut final performance was rewarded with a goal and the praise by the failthful berger supporters.
The game opened up with both teams keen to mix it up in the middle of the park. The return of Ouliaris in the midfield made a big impact on the team this afternoon. Heidelberg started to dominate the game and was soon rewarded with a classic goal by Joe Tricarico who took on the defence of Kingston and slammed the ball past a diving keeper.
As it has been for most part of the season a lack of concentration by the bergers and Kingston equalised within two minutes. But this time, the bergers were not going to repeat that again. To the fray, Josh Groenwald ran hard down the wing to accept a cross by Petrovich who made no mistake to put the ball behind the back of the net with a first time volley. Half time 2-1
The second half was much of the same. Kingston had pushed its defenders up forward to find the critical equaliser. Coach Kon Papas sensing the desperation from the Kingston bench sent on its ace card Marinos who replaced Groenwald. Within minutes the change had worked and Marinos slotted home the bergers 3rd goal. Marinos did not last long on the ground. He tore his hamstring and it appears his finals are over for 2006.
Joe Tricario did not stop running all day for Heidelberg. Another opportunity presented itself and without hesitation scored the bergers 4th goal.
But the day belonged to the clubs young brigade. An injured Marinos was replaced by another youngster Barakat. The youngster was also to leave his mark on the day when an unselfish play by Vlahos who could have scored the 5th, but a shot cross chip to Barakat presented him with an open goal. His shot made was no mistake. The rampage was coming to a close. But not before a dissalowed goal by Joe Tricarico. Final Score 5-1
