Joe Bloggs wrote:Jeda you are spot on but this highlights what a basket case the local womens game is & has been. What kind of players is it producing? Sturt Marion, yes coached by a woman, wins the local comp, training 1 night a week, & SB wins the best player & top goal scorer! Great recommendations for these people to be involved haha. Obviously some people on here, well most are dullusional wanna be's who have missed out being selected. The local comp needs a complete overhaul otherwise what happens to these players when they go back to the local clubs, play in a cabernet league, no decent competition, no intensity, no skill, social bbq league & then expect the girls to then perform at National league level.Your all dreaming! 4-5 players from Friday night are up to it, so where will the replacements come from next year? ------- exactly they're not there.Oh Hulk, these palyers who have been contacted by interstate clubs, if they can't make it here they got no chance interstate. The other states have so much more quality to choose from.

well joe , alot off ppl that know about the womans game know that there are 2 or 3 players that were not available who pulled out due to personal reasons etc could see the writing on the wall about how much time the team was given to be ready for the season and some players that didnt get picked and did trained was due to the fact that the coaching staff has had nothing to do with the womans game before, the coach was still coaching his mens team in the cup final and also trying to mould together a team , DOESNT WORK , AU should be blamed for that...ok joe you wait and see the players we lose next year to interstate teams........so vozzo , MJ ., papa couldnt play in this team you think......

Many months before the new W-League was really a goer I suggested players who wanted to play at the level would have to up their fitness and intensity. Playing Premier League, and just relying on talent and some skills can give players a false view of what is required at the higher level. Surely players with ambition to play at the higher level have now observed that a high fitness level is required and also they have to play with more intensity in the premier league so it carries into the higher level. Combined the talent and skills along with fitness and intensity will take a player a long way. This is the best advice/suggestion I can give.

Something not mentioned on this forum has been the heartbreak that Nenita Burgess faced over the past 2 or 3 months. Yes she is a local player who loves being involved with her club here when she came home for breaks and also contributes to womens football here in some other different forms.

Yes she was in the AU W-League squad, suffice to say she was in career best form in USA, (this came from coaches), signed the rego forms for AU on a Monday to come home mid November then damaged an ACL on the Tuesday at training. Very disappointing time for her.

So she stayed in USA had the knee reconstruction, and also studied for her exams, and graduated with a Batchelor of Science degree Majoring in Exercise Science on the 13th December. Bloody tough crutching it almost a kilometre from the library to her apartment at 1 am in the cold.

So to an intoxicated person who made a comment to Nenita casting aspirtions she would give up if she was playing for AU when faced with what has been transpiring on the field was way off the mark.

I would bet London to a brick if anyone can make it back to the elite level it will be Nenita. The girls Physical and Mental toughness has and will be tested to the highest level.

That is all I will say on that matter. :D For her academically.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing. The person or persons who pulled out before the season did so because her “mate in life” didn’t get a gig. Simple as that. Nothing about knowing the writing on the wall!!!!! This type of thing is pretty common in the Womens game where “close relationship” usually dictate where players move to. Soccer has nothing to do with the Womens comp. In most cases its about the social aspect. That’s enough on this subject.

Beaches. This was on of your best postings (others have also been good) but this one cuts deep and gives us a dad’s point of view. Nenita is everything and more. You only touched the surface. Her experience and challenges with being in the USA and studying and playing and having that nasty injury, will only serve her well in life. she will achieve a lot in her life and you can only be proud.

Correct me if I am wrong, did some drunken lout at the game make a comment about her?

Well said Joe Bloggs
Joe Bloggs wrote:If you look at the game V Perth, we crated the 3 goals for them! At the same time we had 4 great chances to score & couldn't, we don't have the killer instint at the crucial times. We should be asking where is the next group of players gonna come from for season 2? To be fair to Mike & Richie, 3 months to fix bad habits which had formed in the local comp over many years, have a trial selection process, then prepare for the actual season, not possible! .Lets see after next year with at least 4 -5 months to get them to a better fitness level, playing together as a team with local based players, then we can judge.

This first season was always going to be difficult, so now we should learn from the mistakes made & put a stucture in place to look at how we can get the good young talent to a National league standard, obviously SASI same as the boys, aren't the answer. The local competition is ok for an ametuer attitude but what about the kids that really want to strive to get somewhere in the game, what sort of coaching do they get & at what clubs? As i said b4 what happens to the current players when they go back to they're clubs? These players who missed out or think they can make it, will now have plenty of time to work on fitness & show they are good enough instead of bagging the current players, put up or shut up!
You should be happy that Mike & Richie are even involved in the womens game at all! This first season has given them both a good insite to the playing level in this state, hopefully they can have input into improving the state of the game here.

this person should be banned for life for all the comments that she made during the game, she should know better, but you would think WC wouldnt take her to the game in that state anyways

Hey everyone please sit back and look at the team as a whole, Conceding too many goals and not scoring enough. where does your problem arise.

1) ist it the defence

2) ist it your Forwards

3) or ist it the Midefield

It all stems from the Midfielders, ie controlling the game helping out in defence and then being able to link up with the forwards and supply them with decent balls.

Your forwards in Scalzi and Balamenos are capable but unfortunately no one to be able to supply these girls with the right balls so they can finish off.

Defenders in Alaghich, Swaffer , Shorty all comfortable on the ball but no one to come back and helping them out and when they do control the ball no one capable of holding it and creating.

AU did have 1 decent midfielder in Leah Robinson unfortunately she had to return back to Canada.

Mike is not a silly coach and he will be well aware of the area that he needs to rectify.

I am sure that next season you will see a totally different midfield and along with a tougher pre season AU will be up there and contending.

I can think of 3 players in Stocco and Robinson return plus another quality midfield like Stacey Day the team would be more than capable.

1 EMMA
2 ALAGHICH
3 SWAFFER
4 SHORTY
5 FIRMANO
6 ROBINSON
7 STOCCO
8 SCALZI
9 BALAMENOS
10 VOZZO
11 DAY

Please do not be so negative about AU lets not spoil the attempt to get womens soccer up and going in this state.

The comment was not made by a her. Next time I see the person concerned I will have a quiet word with him. Leave it at that.

Neits has had a wonderful experience over the past 3 1/2 years, and it is her story.
Yes we are proud of her achievements on and off the field (as she can be also).

Head Coach MTSU. " Arguably the best team player in his 7 years as coach "
Assistant Coach. " A legend a real diamond"
Student Co-Ordinator. " A really hard worker"
Fellow Team Mates. " An inspirational person "

Overall comment. " A great Ambassador for Australia. She is now our Ambassador for MTSU."
These are comments made to me when I was there.
The rest is her story, and hopefully she will make a DVD of her journey from St Johns Christies Beach until the present. I am biased but sure young players will find it fairly inspirational. The harder one works, the more opportunities come ones way.

That is all from me because the final comment from MTSU was " Nenita has been equipped with the tools to do whatever she choses anywhere in the world, she is an independent person." As it should be. :)

I just wanted to clarify a few things about a comment that was recently made.

The reason why Paps withdrew from the AU squad this year is because she wanted a break from football. There is no point in playing if you are not fully committed. Anyone that has played in a semi-professional or professional team would appreciate this.

Anyone that knows Paps personally knows that she is definately her own person and isn't easily influenced by anyone or anything else. I encouraged her to give it a go, however, she did not have the heart and in the end it was her own decision.

She wants to enjoy playing football, not make it a chore. And if she had played w-league this year, that is exactly what it would have been for her. Now that she has had a break she is ready for next year and can't wait to play. She loves football, but like anything else in life.. sometimes you need to take a breather to find your passion for it again.

It would be appreciated if anyone has any opinions or wants to make an assumption that you be a little more more mature about it and ask Paps yourself. Please stop talking about things as if you have actual facts, find out the truth first.

The only person that entitled to an opinion on this subject is Paps herself. She shouldn't need to justify her decisions.

Thank you.
