FFSA State League Vacancy
Have heard strong rumours of one Saturday club definitely applying for the license.
Any of you Sunday boys thinking of stepping up?

Re: FFSA State League Vacancy
any hint on what club that may be?.... I've heard Stirling may be considering it depending on what other clubs are doing obviously (not sure how true that is so someone correct me if that info is wrong)

Re: FFSA State League Vacancy
Wouldn't this be a case of sleeping with the enemy, a bit two faced if you ask me, the SAASL supporters on here rant and rave about how useless the FFSA is, and now one of them wants to join in ... How ironic.
Re: FFSA State League Vacancy
Not necessarily. A club wants to progress to the next step to play federation, an example of this is Comets. They joined the FFSA and still kept their SAASL team. Nothing stopping this club doing the same.povman1964 wrote:Wouldn't this be a case of sleeping with the enemy, a bit two faced if you ask me, the SAASL supporters on here rant and rave about how useless the FFSA is, and now one of them wants to join in ... Re: FFSA State League Vacancy
That would make sence Sat.Div.2 they would go very well in the State League
Povman what you talking about axrumour of ONE club thinking about it & YOU say that's ironic..... more like moronic.....
The FSSA & Steve Gregan couldn't run a chook raffel, you only have to look at the joke they called the Federation Cup run so well by yours truely.....

I'm sure if they were to go into the State League their playing roster would be significantly different Nugget.nugget66 wrote:That would make sence Sat.Div.2 they would go very well in the State League

How is it moronic? That they want to take the next step to grow?
Yes i can see the move that the Comets made was moronic

Best thing the Comets have done.
Re: FFSA State League Vacancy
Taken from the main forum, discussing the forced merger of the two Port Pirie clubs. The Ox wrote:The reason this decision has been made is due to the FFSA's agenda to cause the SAASL to self destruct.
A large ameature league entity previously expressed interest before all this to join the federation, so the FFSA needed to make room for them. Unfortunately Pirie City were the easy targets and bang there out!
Pirie City are a victim of the FFSA's agenda to dismantle the ameature league.
The move the ameature league team in question will make will be a big loss to the ameature league and big gain to the FFSA.
This whole saga according to my sources has been premeditated for a while now, even the application for a new club is irrelevant because the deal is done and Pirie City got the raw deal. I even herd the Demons were quietly told 'not to worry'.

Re: FFSA State League Vacancy
The only club that stands out for me as a possiblity in Sat Div 2 is Sturt Marion.
They have men, womens and junior teams to give them the credentials. The only questions are, how much money do they have to be able to afford playing State League and are their facilities up to scratch? I don't know the answer to either and am in no position to speculate.
Although it will be a loss to the SAASL, they could be like Comets and still have an amateur team or maybe the lads who don't make the State League grade will just move on and other clubs will reap the benefits of additional players.
Also considering that there were a number of new SAASL clubs this season and another 4 expected next season it won't affect numbers in SAASL and I doubt the quality will be affected either.

Re: FFSA State League Vacancy
I doubt its Surt Marion, too much involvement in SAASL. Besides they nominated Bill Bailey for SAASL President 2009, so this obviously shows there strong support for SAASL. Can't see them going to FEDS.
Re: FFSA State League Vacancy
Sturt Marion - weren't they once with the FFSA (SASF) many moons ago.

Things I am owed because they're too tight to pay up:
Colossus: One House
Costa: One Lunch
Oh and add in
Colossus: one photo and one letter from his "attorney".

Adelaide Villa have a strong setup but might lack the facilities, Monarchs have a junior setup but play at the SAASL Headquarters, maybe another southern side like Cove or Breakers.
Re: FFSA State League Vacancy
Didn't Wanderers always talk about being in the State League?? I know they're not Sat Div 2, but could it be them??

Certainly not us. Dont have the facilities, sponsors or supporters to be successful in the Semi Pro league. Very happy as amateurs.crue head wrote:Have heard strong rumours of one Saturday club definitely applying for the license.

Adelaide Villa
correct me if I'm wrong but isn't that one of the reasons they moved to Saturday?

Re: FFSA State League Vacancy
Unless these clubs are going to fence their pitch and have some junior sides, they wont meet the FFSA requirements.
Sturt Marion are mainly funded from the community club aren't they. I dont think they would be fiscally strong enough to enter without some major sponsors kicking in big $$$. I might be wrong but thats what I've heard.

Sturt Marion are on a forward moving highway and in 2009 will have 170 FFSA JPL players. This highway has several laneways, one of which would be the development into a FFSA State league club but there is a driving goal to achieve some of the successes like the Comets did before their leap of faith. just after APAC (or more like Bobby Anderson) had brought Allan Strain, Bobby Henderson and Lawrie ??? out
from Scotland. Bobby Wright (another Scotsman) gave one of Sturts players the "Glasgow kiss" and was
sent off. I think my brother Dave Swann might have been APACs keeper that day !
