Well done Playford - more touches, more enjoyment, better chance of getting a higher % of children to improve over time

Good on Playford for trying to improve their club but they offer nothing that an E & D club can't offer and you have to travel further. As for intra club games kids soon get bored with them.

u underestimate kids it's not the games they get bored of, it's the repetetive training & the standing in forced positions waiting for the ballThe Wise Monkey wrote:Good on Playford for trying to improve their club but they offer nothing that an E & D club can't offer and you have to travel further. 45 min drive to play at Angle Vale and 30 minutes to Virginia, Gawler (and One Tree Hill and TTG isnt just around the corner either) are no different to me travelling to Modbury,Playford,Raiders,Croydon,Metro,Campbelltown,Pirates, Woodville White City,Blue EaglesThe Wise Monkey wrote:Good on Playford for trying to improve their club but they offer nothing that an E & D club can't offer and you have to travel further. All I believe are being involved with ssgs next year so the amount of Intra days will be at a minimum. All these clubs are in a reasonable location for the north.
Maybe a 10% extra time in travel (at times), with an extra 40% touches on the ball for my sons- I know what is the best direction for my sons

And SSGs doesnt have 22 - 8 year olds trying to get a kick on an adult size pitch- if your child is in the top 5 (skill, speed and size) or so players you might have a reasonable chance to get a decent amount of kicks but after that well lets just say good luck.

Take note at the E&D Modified Rules games and pick a player, count the touches and repeat that over the field especially the Goal Keeper and you will soon realise that unless your child is good the rest are there to fill a hole in the team.
Develop them so that they don't have the pressure on them and get more touches and they continue to play the game, not leave the sport!
The time is right for change in a new direction and I believe E&D will follow in a new direction as the SSG evolves, past players like Richie A know what there about.

mf , as a relative of youngsters playing in E&D early age groups I have always had the same concern, even to the extent where coaches flout the rules and play kids for less than half the game at under 8's level...
SSG sounds like a good plan to me, and at the end of the day the kids will vote with their feet, literally, hopefully their over competitive parents do not ruin the idea.

I believe that the good players will always get more of the ball and the lesser players will fill holes but I truly hope your right and more kids benefit from this change. Povmans right, kids and parents will vote with their feet.movin fast wrote:Take note at the E&D Modified Rules games and pick a player, count the touches and repeat that over the field especially the Goal Keeper and you will soon realise that unless your child is good the rest are there to fill a hole in the team.
