A very big challenge awaits Adelaide United W-League Team this weekend when they meet competition leaders, Sydney FC, this Sunday, 9 November 2008, at 2.30pm at Hindmarsh Stadium.
Vicki Balomenos and Di Alagich
The in form Sydney team have won thier first two opening Westfield W-League games and will be eager to continue their winning ways. Led by Matilda star, Heather Garriock, the blues boost a talent of young matildas and matilda players.
However after their stunning victory against Newcastle Jets last weekend, the reds have a taste of winning and will be keen to continue where they left off. A stunning hattrick by Sandra Scalzi, the first ever hattrick in the Westfield W-League, and the fighting spirit of the Adelaide Team, has put the other W-League Teams on notice that Adelaide will be a very competitive outfit this year.

Re: United W-League to Face In-Form Sydney FC
This is true, so I would be surprised if they played -I would guess they would probably be on the bench if not being completely rested after a long trip like that.bennylava wrote:those three i cant see playing tbh, they get back sunday morning!
Re: United W-League to Face In-Form Sydney FC
I thought they got back 7.15 tomorrow (saturday).. well kev does so i would assume they do..
Re: United W-League to Face In-Form Sydney FC
If they're on the list there must be some chance of playing.
What ever happens, make sure everyone knows about the game. The Women's League will only prosper if we get "bums on seats", or watching the ABC Live telecasts.

Re: United W-League to Face In-Form Sydney FC
ended up 3-2 to Adelaide!!!
Goal scorers for Adelaide were Sharon Black and Victoria Balomenos plus an own goal from Sydney's Lisa Gilbert
Cant wait for the match report. Sounds like a cracker of a game. Well in Adelaide!!!!!!

Re: United W-League to Face In-Form Sydney FC
i think it was a great game and was very entertaining but i felt sorry for the poor adelaide girl i think number 13 who went down injured managed to roll off the pitch and was left there to sort hersef out...i think it was sad to see that not one person from the adelaide bench went around to see if she was ok when to me as a spectator it looked like she was clearly in some sort of pain or discomfort, but i must say congrats to her in getting up and continuing to play, she contributed well to the game...all in all congrats to the girls in a great win over sydney fc at the end of the day the deserved and wanted the 3 points more. congrats girls well in

she had a cramp! get over it she doesnt need her hand held because she has cramping which is expected at the end of a game! if she wasnt gd to go she wlda signalled to the bench. geeze this is pro league after all not mini league!
great game, ugly 2nd half but good all up. fantastic result. the black n swaffer show dominated n it was good to c vicki and blacky playing well together. scalz was red hot too!
good game, glad i got to see it, even tho it is the only game i get to see
Re: United W-League to Face In-Form Sydney FC
ref was terrible...calling offsides when it is physically impossible for her to see...fn disgraceful
she was too slow and couldnt keep up with the direction of play
kept calling dives as free kicks and let hard tackles go...
get a better chick in to ref in future...she was crap

Re: United W-League to Face In-Form Sydney FC
im probably gona upset a few ppl with my post, but this is the way i saw it, yes blacky was ok? her freekick anyone couldve put in there keeper was behind the wall and not nearer to the post, surely we have a younger kid we could put into the midfield, sharon was struggling with the pace and too much room was given to sydney in the midfield, we need to practice with our keeper how to judge the ball when it is crossed in , she was caught out nearly everytime , man of the match must go to swaffer, was a good crowd , the only thing maybe they can do at the next home game is a players list of both teams, but adelaide rebounded well after being a goal down early, we deserved the win
Re: United W-League to Face In-Form Sydney FC
every week its keeper did this...keeper did that
imo, our defense are more worrying that the keepers...that include last week vs. newcastle....how many of our 8 conceeded goals have been defensive errors, against how many have been goalkeeper errors?
blacky was a class above when she was on the ball...her passes were good, her long balls were good and both 2 goals were a result of great free kicks. she isnt so far behind the pace that it is having a dire effect on her game.
sydney were faster than adelaide in general...they were such an agile outfit....
i think big game experience and organisation helped adelaide win it today.

must say im still baffled how Eb is not in that side
Re: United W-League to Face In-Form Sydney FC
fair.
shed be as good as some of the defenders in the squad atm
slater mightve been good too...
oh well...cant really be too critical of a top performance today

must say was a good atmosphere with the crowd that was there
Re: United W-League to Face In-Form Sydney FC
eb is a very strong defender and i still dont understand why she didnt get in to the squad , she is a very mature young girl and deserves everyright to be there ,if shes not in the squad next year she should go to another club that appreciates her talant

Agreed. Whats the point in having a program in South Australia when they just seek imports from other states?
Maybe me need to set up a program in Queensland?!
