Bolton are not lacking bite - Megson

Post by BillShankly »

Bolton boss Gary Megson has hit out at claims that confidence is low at The Reebok and insists the Trotters are in a "buoyant frame of mind".

Defender Gary Cahill recently admitted he and his team-mates have been left by a run of two wins in 10 games, which has seen the Trotters slip into the relegation zone.

Concerns have been raised that the Bolton squad, who take on Manchester City on Sunday, are struggling for confidence following their slump in form.

But Megson feels his squad is in a buoyant frame of mind ahead of the visit of City, and thinks that, with more composure in front of goal, a place in the top 10 of the table is not far away.

"Confidence is not rock bottom," Megson told Sky Sports News.

"We are second bottom (in the league). If we can get over our problem of scoring goals, we could find ourselves in the top half very quickly.

"I don't see any lack of confidence in training or in the games. I just see a team trying its heart out and giving everything.

"It is just the thing that football is all about that we are not getting right, that is scoring goals."
