Re: W-League Round 2 - Adelaide vs Newcastle
i think it was a a good entertaining game and it showed great skill from both sides, you cant blame the goals just on the gk, she played well, you cant say she is bad wen she was chosen over players like emma wirkus and last week she was chosen oven macca. that obviously shows that the coach believes she is a quality player and has faith in her.....the girls won we should be happy for them end of story
Re: W-League Round 2 - Adelaide vs Newcastle
Instead of going on about "our" states goal keeper why not abuse the media for not even putting a score in the paper???
Inaugural W League Season and not even a little score................
NOW THATS A JOKE........
Adelaide United Womens Team win their FIRST home game of the season, Sandra Scalzi scores a hatric, Donna cochaine makes her W League debut, a bounce back from a 4.1 loss, 6 ex aussie players 2 current aussie players........
Now if they couldnt find something about the game to write about - at least write something about the Team..... because i just found 5 topics they could have wrote about....
Im sure EVERY other state whether or not they won or lost would have had their scores in the paper.....
anyway just thought i would break this forum up a little instead of everyone talking about faults of the team!!!!

hopefully it will shed light on the positives to come out of the game and not focus on the negatives as members of this forum like to highlight
Re: W-League Round 2 - Adelaide vs Newcastle
Shorty has become the consumate Team gal. well done.
How is sis cop[ing with the bigger players? I recall a few years back in the WNSL, she copped a lot of attention due in part to her size.

Seen a couple of games on the tv and they looked pretty ordinary! Walking pace. The W-league would want to start cranking up or else......
guess_who wrote:Queensland goals were terrible. Should have done better. One from a set piece went straight over the keeper. Another nearly went underneath her at quiet a slow pace. Stick your leg out and it wouldnt have gone in. And yes i was at the game. Had a conference in brisbane last week. Just my opinion though. Anyone know when emma is back?

Too High expectations of womens football? This is the W-League. Successor to the defunct WNSL.

Goalkeepers can't be expected to make every save as attackers can't be expected to convert every shot - so what, two goals were scored. We won, we should be happy and praising the team's performance, not downgrading it and criticising ONE person. On that matter, what did you think of other player's performances? (Mind you, I'm not really interested I'm just trying to make you stop criticising one person).
If her marker put her off balance, she shouldn't have made contact with the ball, simple as that.
Their disallowed goal was just that, a disallowed goal so don't bring that up. And be careful of the words you choose, she couldn't get off her line quick enough or she didn't get off her line quick enough. It's a subtle difference but I know what you were implying and that's a tad harsh.
Anyways, why was it that they had numerous scoring opportunities in the last 5 minutes? I'm pretty sure you can't say that was the goalkeeper's fault too can you?
Terrible performance? I think you have too high expectations for women's football.
