Do you read the title of individual posts within a thread?
I think the two Jets clubs are now separate entities.
Re: Mod Jets Amateur team
What div are the Jets amateurs in, in the SAASL - I wonder if they will be part of the metro league next year?

Sat Div 1. I very much doubt it based on their experience when they were affiliated with the Jets previously.Rodney wrote:What div are the Jets amateurs in, in the SAASL - I wonder if they will be part of the metro league next year?
Re: Mod Jets Amateur team
ta - you would think it would be beneficial for the Jets FFSA club to have an amateur arm so its juniors have somewhere to go if they dont make the senior jets FFSA teams?
Re: Mod Jets Amateur team
and isnt that the direction the game wants to go - to have all available avenues for players to go within the same club?Rodney wrote:ta - you would think it would be beneficial for the Jets FFSA club to have an amateur arm so its juniors have somewhere to go if they dont make the senior jets FFSA teams?

the contact guy, ground and colours are the same for the Sat div 1 team as is the sunday div 10 so I dont think either team is linked with the jets FFSA?ApolloCreed wrote:they do have an amateur team, the mod jets old boys in div 10.

Re: Mod Jets Amateur team
The SAASL team were treated like the poor cousin when they had ties with the Federation club. They merged with East Siide United and then split again.
No way at all will the SAASL join back with the Federation club. I think both were happy to be seperate clubs.

soon as modbury jets went to the new premier league format in the mid 90's
they took the name they shipped them off the oval and treated them like outcats.
lost their bar takings and alot of supporters right there.

You fellas know very little about the past liason between the amateurs and fed clubs...... The Amateurs had full use of all the facilities, pitch, change rooms, club lights etc.... Unfortunately the Amateurs decided they were bigger that the Feds and did not want to tow the line on club policies. Hence the split..... Nothing could be further from the truth to say the amateurs were treated as outcasts or not part of the club.... The ill informed like to voice their point of view dont they.... Facts are good,

Your rant may not have been directed at me but...
Firstly I do not know what the story was, nor have I stated I did. All I said was:

the jets ams were treated like shite that is for sure, forza how long have u beem associated with modbwee then,5 mins i bet!just ask gabon i am sure he can tell the true story !
Re: Mod Jets Amateur team
I've been there since 1986, 2 sides to every story. But the feds had rules which were for everyone, amateurs wanted their own rules so decided to move. As far as I am aware the feds have no bad feelings toward the amateurs at all. The feds never kicked the amateurs off, the amateurs made the decision to leave the club.. The old boys still play at jet park.

its takes two to tango and it wasn't as one sided as you think.
amateur jets back then were no angels and agree with some of the rules they placed but at the same time modbury feds
made lots of stupid decisions in that era of their club

Re: Mod Jets Amateur team
i thought the split happened when the 2000 olympics came to town and the amateurs werent allowed to play at jet park? even the feds had to play all their home games at jet park early in the year and away games late so the pitch could be immaculate for olympic training?as with most am/fed relationships, doesnt work as big brother always wants big slice! as for jets nicking the amateurs name? what name could they use when feds were forced to have nicknames?
things happen for a reason

Re: Mod Jets Amateur team
but back in 1994/1995 is when alot of the stuff started and when they started making them train elsewhere, when the amatuers started to decline in numbers in attending fed games aswell.
robinfriday never said they nicked the name just stated that they took the name as in a new franchise, i agree it would of been stupid to use anything else

I heard the rift between the two had a massive impact on the crowd numbers and atmosphere at the fed games. Is this true?

Re: Mod Jets Amateur team
I would have to definately agree with you there farmer joe......the amatuers used to stand behind the goals and it was always packed. i think from memory they even had free beer until half time which made for a even larger crowd. once the split took place i think a lot of grudges where held therefor the amatuers never really venture down to the feds and vice versa. i also must state that a lot of the feds blokes used to either still be at the club after there game to witness the amatuers games or they would venture down to be a part of it.
im also pretty sure that the amatuers leaving would have put a significant dent in the bar takings as those boys love to drink..........

Im amazed that the Feds haven't gone out of there way to patch it up !
In any club its about numbers which = dollars & they have a few numbers & I'd recon the Feds would need extra dollars?

Re: Mod Jets Amateur team
having played for modbury feds and coached there for twenty seasons, and then played for the amateurs and coached them last season, i guess i have a foot in both camps. however , the amateurs have really got their act together, they're well organised, and really look after their players. ( and coaches )
i wish they could reconcile their differences, the amateurs presence at fed games was tremendous and really created a great atmosphere. the times i went this season was severely lacking in atmosphere. the amateurs are only lacking a good training facility. sadly i feel there is too wide a gap between the two. but the feds definetly need the amateurs more than the amateurs need the feds.

agree with you 100% mahluf.......i also agree that the jets amatuers are very well organised. great comittee and a great bunch of players......they definately do all they can to ensure everyone involved in the club is well looked after.....i think it is great that after a game everyone helps to get it all packed up and different people help out with different jobs and all pitch in too make light work of it all.
i dont think the two clubs would ever merge again as they have met to discuss in the past and its always the same hicups for both parties involved. they are both great clubs but would definately be a real force if they had one common goal and vision
if im right not only did you coach and play at both clubs but you used to dj aswell

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes, the split was in part due to the Olympics as the Feds told the amateurs that they could not play on the pitch due to Olympic commitments with the pitch (as the pitch was Modburys No1 priority and everything was based on the pitch, look at the state of it now, was it worth ceasing relations because of it? hindsight eh?) and could not guarantee when or if the ground would be available for the amateurs (so full use of facilities is a load of garbage as I was at the meeting between the feds and amateurs so this is a fact) so this gave the amateurs NO option other than to find a new ground (which we did at Illyarrie Avenue).
Also should be noted another part of the split was that the Feds wanted to control ALL of the money (when others entities within the club ie.Juniors were allowed to keep there own accounts with no expalanation of why, when the question was posed why one rule for one and another rule for another when WE are supposed to be under the same umbrella, Funny isn't it as isn't this is whats happening at league level now with the FFSA & the Amateur league?) and due to this reason the amateurs decided that they had been down this road before with the feds as the amateurs bills/costs not being met so again I don't understand how Forza90 and SID can say it's down to the amateurs not in line with club policies or that we actually had a decision to make? As Sid said there are 2 sides to every story and that’s definitely an understatement based on some so called FACTS. There are many other examples I have but I thinks this covers the majority and we have moved on as a club and are happy with were we are at as a club.
At the end of the day we have tried to work with Modbury in the past in regards to using the ground for cup games(renting facility was an option) and slowly rebuilding the bridges however unfortunately we were not even given the decency of a reply to our discussions and game requests for usage of the ground (Cup games). The feeling from the amateurs is that the Feds only want the amateurs $$$ from both the bar takings and memberships of the club (Modbury Soccer Club) but don't want to give anything up like confirmed playing facilities (i.e. All home games on the main pitch and at least 1 night to train on the pitch) and more importantly they don't want to work with us and would rather just dictate.
We will continue in the amateur league in Saturday Division 1, feel free to PM me if you have any issues as I have been present at the majority of meetings between the feds and amateurs so unlike others I feel my facts and recollections are true, accurate & correct.
PS. Please note our 25th anniversary is at the Modbury Soccer Club. All I can say is that we have tried to work with Modbury in the past (with no success) and we are still trying to work with them as we didn't have to have our 25th Anniversary night at their club when yet again they will happily take our $$$.

good on you gabon for having the balls as a jets player to write what you have, remember there are two sides to the story not just the feds one!
