I'm not fussed where it's played now. The only reason I wanted it played at Atletico Madrid's home ground was for Torres's sake. Now he's apparently been ruled out of that game, I no longer care.

Big loss, but a forward line of Keane and Babel isn't too bad either. (providing Babel is fit of course, apparently he limped off during an international game as well...)
Unfortunately though, even if Babel is fit I could see Rafa reverting to a 4-2-3-1 fornation and playing Keane as lone striker, with Babel benchwarming once again. We're wasting talented players with Babel and Lucas..both can be stars.

another good win. we can't keep coming from behind because one game we won't. agger needs to play in the champions league this week to gain some match experience for the chelsea game. kuyt seems to be in good form so hopefully he keeps scoring. keane looks alright but just needs to score. i'd still prefer babel on the wing even though pennants crossing is delightful. when keane starts to get a few goals i reckon he will score 10+ this season. big game vs atletico. if we can win this one we should just about be through the group.

nice formation tots :P

in all seriousness... its good to see Rafa think outside the square trying to break these teams down... granted Man City and Wigan didn't play nearly as defensive as Stoke a few weeks back, but had Rafa not been so "gung-ho" the results probably wouldn't have panned out as they have. Its going to be interesting seeing a team try and do a Stoke again when we revert to this formation... because you can afford to do it against these 11 men behind the teams when your centre of defense is as strong as Pools (Chelski, ManUSA could do it as well).

does anyone still think Lucas should be ahead of Alonso?!?!?!

kuyt is still effin useless, if babel was playing over kuyt, pool wouldnt be the ones coming back to win, instead ti most likely would have been 2 r 3nil.

any player could have scored the goals he did. kuyt is all luck and no skill.

well the goals he has gotten in the past 2 matches were put on a silver platter minus the last goal. yes last game he was good but until he is more consistent, he isn't good.

IMO Kuyt has been our most consistant performer this season. Works his socks off everygame, which cant be said for some others and often plays out of his natural position.

Skrtle(before injury) and Kuyt have been our most consistant.

Alonso is nowhere near the quality of the others you mentioned, Mascherano on the other hand is the best DM in the world.

yes kuyt does work hard but where does running around like a headless chook get you. RM should be for a player that is threatening going up (babel or pennant) and that tracks back as well (kuyt does this though).

was talking to a few of my chelsea mates and according to them mascherano doesn't do much in a game therefore he isn't the best dm in the world. one of them even called him a 'dud' :|

Alonso is probably the best passer of the ball in the EPL with Cesc and you say he doesn't match the quality.

Masch is good cause he works hard and wins the ball but his distribution lets him down MASSIVELY

Yes Alonso is a great passer of the ball, but he often tries to pull off a tricky pass, rather than an easy one, which leads to us giving away cheap possession. Prime example during the Wigan game the other night, he tried a tricky long ball to Pennant from our defence, but screwed it up and giving the ball straight to Wigans midfielder, rendering us in trouble at the back, as most players were beginning to advance.
Also his agility is poor, which often leads to him giving the ball away.
And ffs can someone tell him to stop shooting from ridiculous positions. Yes, he's scored some great long range goals in the past, but that doesn't mean he can shoot from fucking anywhere. Especially when majority of the shots either go straight to the keeper, or completely wide. Honestly I reckon he's taken the most shots in our team this year, and had the least amount on target..

So yes, he can pass the ball wonderfully at times, but that doesn't make him one of the best centre mids in the premier league..

And btw, I'm adding Ballack to the list of best CM's in the EPL. Can't believe I overlooked him before..he's class.

Kuyt > Pennant on the right wing anyday. Pennant should of agreed on a move to Ewood durin the off season, he would of done the club a favour. I think ive seen pennant play 3 good games for the club.

To all you Kuyt bashers - Actim stats seem to back up my opinion that Kuyt has been our most consistant player this season. This was compiled before his MOM performance on the weekend

I know stats arent everything in football, but these seem to give a reasonable indication of a players performance.

fact is kuyt has 'ONLY' been right time right place, very very lucky, and that is all he is, luck and no skill.
pennant and babel would have done a better job, if they played liverpool would be winning without having to come back.

no mate your having a laugh... Kuyt is not the reason we have been coming from behind every game :clown: Infact, I could almost go as far as saying Kuyt is one of the reason we are 2nd

There is a skill at being in the right place at the right time. Good players are usually in the right place at the right time, they are not lucky mate. Yes he's missed some sitters this season, but so have Torres and Gerrard. I dont know what team you've been watching as there have been alot poorer performers then Kuyt this season :clown:

Pennant is a joke and Babbel is injured

lets just agree to disagree...

IMO Kuyt is a better player then Pennant. He has scored 5 goals already this season and he's played most games out of position. Pennant was going to be sold preseason, so i guess Rafa seems to agree with me.
