I'm excited to hear about the exciting plans for the SAASL next year, and how the FFSA is the devil and we all should reject his temptations.
At least according to the few guys on here anyway.

Re: SAASL Meeting, did anyone go, what happened ?
Here is my perspective.
The SAASL certainly have alot to offer. The fact that there will be NO FEE increases for the next 5 years to 2013 (capped at 2008 costs) will secure alot of clubs, PURELY because the FFSA hasn't put such a plan in place. While what the FFSA has on offer appears to be attractive, the FFSA only have 'estimated' charges and fees etc and there is nothing concrete about what they truly have to offer - not even for season 2009. Any club in their right mind would not change direction if they didn't know where they were heading. I think this would be the ONLY issue preventing an SAASL club from crossing over.
Also the SAASL claims to be able to cross reference their database with the FFSA database to check on dual registrations. But what are they doing to prevent dual registrations in the first place? There were a few dual registered players this year and because the SAASL are not firm enough on their own regulations what is to stop clubs playing dual registered players? They certainly do not respond to official complaints as expected.
The SAASL are suggesting that they will look into holding the clubs responsible for inaccurate information at the time of registration. My questions are, firstly why should it be the clubs responsibility to check the ID of players and secondly if the clubs were to be held responsible, what would the consequences be for the club which deliberately submits incorrect information? From previous experience I would say that there will be no consequences. In the FFSA, there are penalties as there should be.
In my opinion it should be the responsibilty of the SAASL to verify the identities of potential players, and to seek a solution themselves rather than handballing it to the clubs.

I tell you what Guus and those guys with the Cichanowski and Bailey usernames.
Alex and Bill have been involved for a very long time with the Amateur League and their record is there for everyone to see.
What have you guys achieved?

Yet they have SO MUCH to improve on, and simple things too like avoiding dual registrations!Paleon Patros Germanos wrote:I tell you what Guus and those guys with the Cichanowski and Bailey usernames.

We are all getting a little sick and tired of you guys slagging off Bill, Alex and the some of the guys on this forum thread who work tirelessly for there clubs and the amateur league to ensure this entity succeeds year in and year out so all of you can enjoy a game with your mates on a Saturday or Sunday. Some of you children need to grow up, stop writing crap and start giving these guys the respect they deserve.

What is so difficult about verifying the identity of someone who wants to register. Cross checking the database is good but what wouyld be the point if you cant positively ID the player anyway. Major Flaw. Its not difficult to verify an ID these days.
The saasl have done a great job, and I applaud them for their time into the game, but instead of preventing dual registrations they simply do not want to know. In my opinion it is an important issue, with a simple solution.
Marooned is your club one of them which had dual registered players?

Re: SAASL Meeting, did anyone go, what happened ?
It is up to clubs to ensure they do not register dual players.
If a club is found out then I agree SAASL should come down hard.

The problem here PPG is, once the clubs have been caught, nothing happens.Paleon Patros Germanos wrote:It is up to clubs to ensure they do not register dual players.

The SAASL needs to address this also, because the club will have ulterior motives and will try to manipulate the system.
We need to have FIRM rules and penalties, similar to the FFSA.

Re: SAASL Meeting, did anyone go, what happened ?
Obviously you guys have had an issue with dual registered players and Bill & Alex admitted (in a roundabout way!) that there is an error with the system and will be trying to fix the issue - case closed.
I thought Bill and Alex handled the meeting quite well last night, and cleared up a lot of the mis-conceptions out there in regards to discussions with the FFSA. In regards to Amateurs/Metro League, Michael Carter has an agenda he needs to push (the FFSA providing an amateur comp) and the SAASL has its member clubs to protect. I sincerely hope that there can be some common ground found between the FFSA and SAASL, but it doesn't look like the stalemate will end anytime soon.
