any further news from beograd polonia or croatia on them having to go into the new league?
maybe twisted could let us know. as the federation don't allow ethnic names , i guess they'll revert to their federation names. i wonder if the new league will be on a saturday or sunday, most good players who play on sundays do so for work reasons etc.

Raiders have no affiliation with Croatia. Run independently from each other. Just use the same venue.

I can't tell you much because we haven't been told anything by the FFSA... only what's been said here. I mentioned to our team managers the rumours that we might be "forced" to join the new league and the response was "they can get f*cked". The question they raised is where are all these federation clubs going to get players from to fill 2 amateurs sides??? PLUS I don't think the players/committee would be in favour of the fees increasing fivefold next year.

I would have to disagree. Raiders are a croatian backed club. Few players that now play for their amateur side played federation football in their younger days.
Same case with Beograd. One could say we are run independently from White City and just use the same venue, but the fact is that the same people are in charge.

What about those Amateur sides with juniors in the FFSA?

Will they be forced to make the move to keep thier junior sides affiliated with the FFSA. I am talking you Fulham and Sturt Marion in particular. Are there any others?

They've had all this time, I would expect more than a couple of paragraphs to persuade people why it's a better league than we already have.

They are accepting Ethnic names for 2009 & 2010. Suppose they can't be too choosy.

The insurance covers, is very attractive, both the accident and the public liability.

Fees seem quite reasonable, I think a few clubs will be discussing this at there next
committee meeting and they are requesting Sat & Sun at this stage.

I would imagine, that there preference, would be Sunday league, so that the FFSA ref's
would ref on Saturday, then do the Metro league on Sunday, which obviously would mean
1st preference before the amateurs, who would have had free rane to FFSA ref's up until now
on Sundays.

Also I notice, Steve Gregan is in charge of the senior league, isn't/wasn't he in charge of the FFSA
referees???

There are still a few too many TBC's for my liking to be perfectly honest, but the overall proposal looks ok. We are going to discuss the proposal at our committee meeting next week, crunch the numbers and send any clarifications needed through to the FFSA. A couple of questions I have already is:

- If a player is FFSA registered, can he play Metro League as well as Super League, i.e. an ABE player drops down and plays a few games for us. I am sure it will be outlawed, but there was some talk at the time of the original proposal that this would be possible.

- Will we be guaranteed refs for Reserves games? If so, it is an extra cost that has to be factored in but is still a positive.

Steve Gregan has been the Men's Competitions Coordinator for FFSA leagues for i believe the last 2 seasons. Matthew Cream took over his previous position of Referees Development Officer, Matthew is now the person who allocates the referess for all of the FFSA competitions including the Women's competitions.

He told me this is why he referees the SAASL amateur league, as refereeing federation could be seen as a conflict of interests.

Found a yearbook from 1981 when the had the old Metropolitan League there were 6 teams with a reserves team & junior team as well.

The 6 teams were Orange Sturt, Adel Uni, Noarlunga, SAIT, Sth Adelaide & Flinders.

I wonder if they will get more than 6 this time around

Yes that's right he's the competition coordinator for the FFSA had dealings with him 2 seasons ago when we entered the federation cup & we drew Enfield on the Saturday & our Sunday fixture was the Downs in the League, we wanted to play the game on the Wednesday night even giving up home ground to play at Enfield & he made us forfeit???
He did the same to the Downs the year before, the Federation Cup could ve been good if it was run properly!
