Catchup game after the catchup games????
Just a question, did Cumby and Campbelltown play their last catch up game after the end of the season? Looking at the SAWSA web site all teams have played 16 games now.
125 years
Re: Catchup game after the catchup games????
Cumby requested the game be played but Camp/town choose to forfeit

what a load of crap from campbeltown, toros played every week and never forfieted a game and they get relegated , what a joke.
Re: Catchup game after the catchup games????
Yeah but Toros also lost all of the games they played.
If Campbelltown want to forfeit they're allowed, they get a 3-0 loss. Big deal

Dont suppose that the Sturt v Fulham Ressies catch up game will ever get played?
Really it should, as it will affect who goes to Div2 or Div3 next year - or has a "no play no points" outcome already been officially agreed?

Really 'no play no points' is a terrible solution! Is this the way the girls get rewarded to work hard all season??pvfc wrote:Dont suppose that the Sturt v Fulham Ressies catch up game will ever get played?

If one team forfeits so be it, but a game not played may affect others too and this is just unfair.

Dr D . who are you involved with? so did para hills when they first started

Not with Campbelltown if thats what you're getting atHulk Hogan wrote:Dr.D wrote:Yeah but Toros also lost all of the games they played.

My comment related to this: If Cambelltown chooses to forfeit that is an administrative decision for their club. Why is it crap just because Toros played. Toros "get" relegated because they came bottom. And i doubt the Campbelltown forfeit had any bearing on their position on the ladder, especially seeing as Campbelltown as the team forfeiting recorded a loss.Hulk Hogan wrote:cg1 wrote:Cumby requested the game be played but Camp/town choose to forfeit

HH can you point out a competition anywhere in the world where the anyone other than the bottom placed side is the one that gets relegated.
And I say this because your quote above makes it sound remarkably like Toros deserve to stay up OVER Campbelltown simply because they actually played all of their games, which is completely ridiculous, because a forfeit is a recognised result.

hey bud, every team in the past has been given 2 years in the prem league , para hills finished last last year and was given the 2nd, toros havent it would have been easy for toros to forfeit against the top teams but they didnt they played them out, thats my point
Re: Catchup game after the catchup games????
Well in the past couple of years there hasn't been major structural changes to the competition either. Toros got a raw deal on the two years... But if they'd ended up bottom next year, they still would have been in the same position. I still fail to see what that has to do with Campbelltown forfeiting, but maybe i'm just stupid.hey bud, every team in the past has been given 2 years in the prem league , para hills finished last last year and was given the 2nd, toros havent it would have been easy for toros to forfeit against the top teams but they didnt they played them out, thats my point
I'd be more worried right now if I were from Para Hills because as it stands, they don't have Toros as the league whipping boy for next year. Hopefully they can keep building on this year, because otherwise its going to be a tough year.
Your point re Toros not forfeiting to the top teams is a load of shit, because the only thing that would have changed would be the goal difference.

Campbelltown now risk becoming hot favs for next relegation...and Toros may be promoted again next year so everybody's happy again. Except C'town of course

Re: Catchup game after the catchup games????
It is a big deal. If teams are going to commit to a season they are oblidged to fullfil every fixture otherwise the league losdes it's integrity. Teams who fortfiet really should be relegated prior to other clubs.Dr.D wrote:Yeah but Toros also lost all of the games they played.

Re: Catchup game after the catchup games????
Forfeits are allowed for in the laws of the game. The result of a forfeit in a 3-0 loss to the forfeiting side. You cannot know the circumstances that will occur over the course of the season. The game in question was postponed due to pitch availability due to environmental conditions. If the hosting club chose to forfeit the game after the season then i don't see the problem with that at all. It is allowed for in the rules. The forfeit gives a result. the results determine the points, and this determines the clubs position in the ladder.
So i disagree with your asertion that forfeiting clubs should be relegated over lower positioned sides. They got enough results off their own back despite the forfeit to place higher on the ladder than the bottom side, so deserve their place in the competition next season over that team. But thats only my opinion, you of course are entitled to your own.

Re: Catchup game after the catchup games????
I think this one is more relevant as it actually does affect which div two teams may play in next season - the game has just not been played and it looks like no points awarded to either team.Easy Tiger wrote:Really 'no play no points' is a terrible solution! Re: Catchup game after the catchup games????
A club could in theory go into their last game knowing that if they lose by three goals they could survive and forfiet rather than risk getting a pounding and being relegated. It almost happened in saturday amateur league. No reasons were givien but one club forfieted a match they they more than likely may have lost by a bigger margin than the 3-0 awarded to their opposition... who could have been penalized themselves had the title been decided on goal difference.Dr.D wrote:Forfeits are allowed for in the laws of the game. Re: Catchup game after the catchup games????
Do we need anymore justification to ensure ALL games are finished at the end of the season proper?

Any team who enters the comp should be oblidged to fulfill every tie.
Re: Catchup game after the catchup games????
Then shouldn't the governing body be required to ensure that every game is played within the confines of the season proper.
A lots of things went awry this season, i don't think its fair to be making an example of Campbelltown over this issue when there was another game that was given as a no result because of weather related postponements forcing games to be played outside of the season.

Then why is there a rule allowing for forfeits??Bodø Glimt wrote:Any team who enters the comp should be oblidged to fulfill every tie.

A rule doesn't make it right.
Apparently, it is technically still legal to shoot a Scotsman in York, but only if you spot him within the town walls after dark on a Sunday, your weapon of choice is a bow-and-arrow, and you shoot from horseback! Yorkshire-Escapes most certainly does NOT recommend anyone trying this.
