Para Mills vs Modbury 17's

Post by the juggler »

I watched this game today and i was apalled by two things.
Firstly, Modburys number two seemed more interested in fighting than playing football. He played for less than a half but in that time he started three fights and never even touched the ball. What a LOSER!!!!
Secondly, the referee lost complete control of the game and even walked away when players began to push and shove immediatley after the final whistle. He showed no duty of care to the players and wasn't interested at ALL! Other than that Para Hills played the better football with their regular squad whilst Modbury played poorly even though they dropped down several regular under 23 players. They are sitting on the ladder where they deserve to be..... BOTTOM!!!

Saw Modbury recently and their No 7 was the same, took the player and not the ball, and the referee let him continually get away with it

Read through your comments regarding the game. I do agree about No.2 from Modbury. Have good repore with Coach of Para Hills U/17`s.
But please get facts right when saying several players from Modbury`s U/23`s were dropped down. Fact: only 2 players in 23`s are eligable in playing at that level. Fact : only one played !,
Who were the other 6 ?

:?: What do you mean who are the other six? I said several, not 7. Several means more than 1. There WAS more than one player from Modbury who has played 23's this season playing in the game whilst others sat it out. Fact.

If you want to be that exact !
Several players of Para Hills of that squad have played a game at a higher level than U/17`s within the Club during this season.
The same as Modbury. Do we now class them as being a player from above ?

Remember that injuries & player numbers has a big part to play in the squad selection.

Until you are involved within a Club at a Coaching Level you won`t understand. Just ask your Coach.

:o Not the same as Modbury at all...the boys that have played in the 19's this season are all part of the 17's squad and play every Sunday. Rarely used players coming down this season...start of the year we did as only had 9 players in our squad. ( I might add, it didn't work anyway.) As has been mentioned on this forum countless times it's clubs that bring players down for big games that annoys me. However, that is a winless arguement as CLUB opinions will always vary. Glad you agree with me re the number 2 though. Guess he wouldn't get a game in front of Stevie Day, Anthony Solagna or Luke Air-Quigley anyway!!

I have read this post and must agree that the way sc1 wrote the report by saying several players from the under 23s played is misleading if not delibarate. and didnt take into consideration player injuries and numbers.

Ladies please !

If players come down to help out with numbers and they are within their correct age group then so be it. Surely if a squad is short of numbers or carrying injuries this will be the prime reason for players dropping down.

NOW STOP IT !

:x Seems like the Modbury number 2 likes striking players outside the confines of the club too. Sent off at 5 a side tonight for fighting..likely to get an 8 week suspension. (Fights as good as he plays I might add.) For your sake and the good of the game..give it away you MORON!!!

well it is not the first time he has been sent off for fighting at five-a-side. I think the ref needs to control the games a bit more with all the testosterone flying about.

How's Wilma ?

 Seems that Mr. Weidenbach has found something that he is even poorer at than soccer. Certain school match this morning...manhandling players whilst sending them off...Mmm...not what I'd be doing given the circumstances of the last few weeks.... And refereeing? Perhaps the school need to look at who they have refereeing their games as it might just get out of hand one day.

He didnt really make jets... the under 17s had many players pull the pin after they had been picked for the squad. The club was left with with no real choice of player they picked after trail stage as they were strugling to even field a team. But i do agree with all that is writen about todd he can become easily hot headed. But i can quarentee he will not be going any further with modbury jets after this season has finished.

Going back to the game business, Para Hills did actually bring down Dan Riding, a full time member of the u/19s squad. Para Hills usd him to tag Day the whole game anyway! The modbury 17s have rought down players almost every week to fill positions. Give them a break, for goodness sake they've managed what, 1 point this year!

I really can't see what the issue is? If players are eligible to go down and play for the 17s even if they play for the 19s, so be it.

The issue is, is a player that gets dropped down developing or is it for a result! Again, for the future of our sport I think more value is gained by promoting youngsters

Promoting youngsters could be a good thing or a bad thing.

I believe too many players are playing above their age level as is. This is creating to many players that think they are better than what they are.

This is my opinion only, the 19s that are playing currently would get smashed from 18s that played 10-15 years ago.

In reference to players playing above their age group,

Wot do you expect when State Coaches say they should be playing up in order to develop further.

Add this one too,

A certain Adel. City player once told a club junior team that if you were not playing U17 by the time you were 14 you were not going to make it anyway. (That is a second hand story but i am sure you get the drift)
