Obviously this wasn't the case with this particular game. Usually they play Wednesday night fixtures although I'll be off to Hindmarsh tonight so I'm glad it wasn't tonight. What about a Tuesday night or a Thursday night game at Grange? Sounds better than playing during the AFL Grand Final. Oh well, if it's Saturday then Saturday it is.
I missed this post in all of the above. Some clubs have played wednesday night (not necessarily at Grange). I've seen a few of them. The referee at one of them did tell me there was a game scheduled for the next day so some games do go ahead on a thursday if both teams agree to it. Sturt played Villa in such a catch up match.
As for AFL grand final day, chances are there's always something scheduled somewhere for any other date you choose. It may be something that has no interest you either you or myself, but might to someone else.

You all knock the SAASL adminsitration I would like to see you do a better job.
Sometimes catch-up games are not played because there is no need to. It is quite possible that a back-log of games during the season meant it could not be played mid week and with Sat Div 2 and 3 games scheduled during cup rounds meaning Cup Dates obviously being unavailable.
I still dont see what is at issue, Sturt Marion is playing the game. Budapest needs to draw. And forfeiture is not a huge problem in the SAASL.
It seems that everything must revolve around the diary of Bozo.
what about the point that teams can know what is expected of them. For instance, salisbury villa only need a draw on saturday. They could play for a draw, knowing they would still get the title. All major league ensure the final day of the season sees every team playing at exactly the same time so this cannot happen.

I don't think anyone has mentioned my diary in regards to this, nor is it relevant.

A better example would have been your matches with Uni. The chance was there for the two sides to manipulate both games to get what they wanted. I'm pleased to say that in this case both teams did the right thing, but the opportunity was there.
Hawksey, are you trying to say that AFL is a minority sport in this country? You don't have to like the game, but it is by far the most watched sport in this country. Look at the crowds the AFL get compared to soccer and rugby. You say that NSW and QLD couldn't care less. The Swans and the Lions attract more people to the game and have more members than than the rugby sides. I know that NT have a major Aussie Rules comp as well but I don't know enough about their rugby or soccer comps to be able to compare. Maybe one day soccer will be bigger in this country but I can't see it happening. Time will tell but for now mate your in the minority on that one.
all catch up games should be played before the season ends. im sure all teams could find a suitable time during the season to play them be it midweek or cup rounds.

This is easier said than done - e.g. our catch-up with Macoes. Our reserves were still in the cup so cup rounds were out, and Macoes have a fair amount of players that work nightshift and therefore couldn't play mid-week. The compromise was to play at the end of the season.

I have always said you can use statistics to prove anything and this proves it. More people are member of lions/swans than the rugby sides. Remind me, how many AFL teams they have and how many NRL. I'm pretty sure the membership of all of the NRL sides in NSW would dwarf those of the swans.
Now afl is a minority sport and that is not even up for debate. Believe it or not (and i know most australians have a problem with this) there is a world outside australia. How many people play football? How many play aussie rules? More even play football than aussie rules in THIS country. How many countries play football? How many countries play aussie rules?
Therefore point proven, aussie rules is a minority sport. QED!

And in the Australian winter, Aussie Rules is the MAJORITY sport. Why did we start arguing about this again Hawkhead?

How is it the majority sport?
more people play football than cross country basketball.

These figures are for adults (aged 15 years and over).
The highest was walking (at 25%), i'm intrigued as to how 75% of the population get around when not in there cars.

Having more money doesn't make something better. Just because I have more money that you, doesn't make me a better person. It's just a co-incidence that I am.
As for majority watched, well the average attendance of international cricket outweighs any other sport in australia.

Where? And at what point did you decide tojump on my back anyway? All I said was I thought clubs have an obligation to play all their ties (or something to that effect). Oh yeah, I just realized you forfieted a few weeks back (possibly to avoid a 14-1 drubbing).

The above quote Bozo was not how I posted. You have changed it and therefore have misquoted me.
My problem with you stems back to the day you came to our ground and acted like a smart-arse. Then came on here and posted your version of events.
Then your comments at Africa.
So go do what you do best and shove your dick up Sharkey's arse.
Paleon Patros Germanos wrote:My problem with you stems back to the day you came to our ground and acted like a smart-muscat. Then came on here and posted your version of events. Then your comments at Africa.
Isn't that what a forum is all about? How did I act like a smart-arsé? I went to the ground, watched two games of football and went home. At least I didn't throw my linesman's flag down and sulk off because a referee overuled a decision. Tell me which comments you found offensive and then I shall review them.
Awful conditions but both games went ahead. Actually it was only one side of the pitch that was really bad and it posed more of a threat to the linesman on that side than the players. Pooring with rain through a lot of the reserves match plus the A's being a big match for both meant that the reserves was a hard one to get in to. 1-1 at half time before the Africans scored two goals within minutes of each other to make it 3-1.
The the main game the Africans took the lead after four minutes and could have had a second soon after. Late in the first half they had a player sent off for the usual reason (lack of discipline) and Navarino equalized in first half stoppage time. The Africans restored their lead ten minutes into the second half. Navarino had a lot of chances and failed to put them away. Possibly had a good shoult for a penalty too but that was waved away and the Africans held on for a much needed victory, which takes them out of the relegation zone at their opponents expense.
Firstly, I am talking about when you came to one of our home games and your behaviour was erratic to say the least.
Secondly, I am talking about comments made by you at the Africa game.
In regards to sulking as a linesman, are we talking about the game where the ref was your mate? How many decision did he over-rule? We are talking about the same refwho when he has our yellow card average increases from 1.6 to 3.3 a game. The same ref with a 100% strike rate in terms of red cards per game when he has us?
Your mate who was singing your praises before the game in question.
Bozo, my point is that you know diddly squat.
And you better hope that my bark is worse than my bite.
PPG, I think I can speak for the majority here and suggest that Bodo has more "respect" than you'll ever have regarding the game. Why do you think people are actually wanting him at their games? The best part is he has no bias to any team and says it how he sees it. You dont always have to agree with him - I dont always - but respect his right to an opinion (this is a forum remember) and reckon his comments are probably more prone to neutrality than just about everyone else's.
Bomber read my posts carefully. I am talking about Bozo's behaviour AT the games in question once at our home game and Africa United.
I am NOT talking about his posts.
As for the "sulking" game Bozo. The referee in question approached us and asked us to let you run the line. He then asked us to remove our linesmen twice.
Further I dont care if I dont have your respect Bomber.
Paleon Patros Germanos wrote:The referee in question approached us and asked us to let you run the line.
Well that is news to me, although he did ask me to do it after you sulked off. As for my behaviour at those two games... would you like elaborate? I can wind you up all day.
