2009 U 16s competition
Is the format for the U 16s Comp for 2009 going to change to A, B , C group or will it remain the same as it currently stands ( NE, SW)?
The U16 comp does need to change to A, B C group to lift the standard of the comp otherwise the better players will by -pass the 16s to go directly to the u17s.

Re: 2009 U 16s competition
It will be a normal A, B & C league. It will determine 17 comp for 2010.
Next years 16's will be based on this years 15's.

Re: 2009 U 16s competition
Its my understanding that this years u/15s determines 2009's u16s and u17s
Re: 2009 U 16s competition
It's probably appropriate to point out how this year's division occurred - originally there was going to be one league but they had so many teams apply, they divided it into two. I think it worked too. Although the NE league appeared stronger, I think that was mainly due to the dominance of Para Hills. My lad's team from the SW was a mid field team - we recently played a friendly against the same placed team from the NE, and the game was decided on penalties. The cup final was played between a NE team and SW team, so were the semi-finals. It was probably more good luck than good judgement but the two leagues seemed to be a pretty good split.
As for next year, every club will have to field an U16's team, hence more teams, hence the different break up.
Doesn't matter. My lad's too old next year and has both Manchester United and Liverpool begging him to play for their first team

I'm not sure that's correct. The story I heard at the beginning of the season was that teams fielding a 16's team this year, would get preference in the 16's next year, an attempt to encourage clubs to field a 16's team this year. Mind you, that was just a story heard around the ground and like all such stories, might just possibly be a wee bit overstated (or utter rubbish ).Next years 16's will be based on this years 15's.

Re: 2009 U 16s competition
it appears that the format of the u16s will be changing to A, B and C groups which should make the competition more exciting and competitive.
there should be enough talented players of 16s and 15s in the pool of players to make this competition the respect that it deserves.

Re: 2009 U 16s competition
So how are they going to choose the under 16 A, B and C teams?? Will it be based on how the 15s went this year?
Re: 2009 U 16s competition
if the 15s from last season determaine the 16s next year, how would the u/17s comp be formatted?

Re: 2009 U 16s competition
It is widely known that both the 2009 U16 and U17 leagues will be A, B, C type leagues and both will be based on the performance of the U15s in 2008. The performance of U16's in 2008 has no bearing on gradings.

Any players that don't want to play Fed and play a more relaxed game and show their prowess in E&D are more than welcome to check out the Elizabeth Downs colts this year - if this may be of interest to you or someone you know PM me for more details. Ability not important but good attitude is! Guarantee we can make you a better player and help you enjoy your football more at a great club and develop you into a player able to go through the senior ranks.
Look forward to hearing from you.

ORB, good to see the downs with a colts team in e&d for this season, i played there as a youngster many years ago and have kept an eye on the club over the years, they did not seem to have the numbers of teams in the juniors in the past couple of years, but then again areas change over time I guess. Good luck...

Re: 2009 U 16s competition
I began playing seniors at the Downs whilst still playing for the U/16's, as good a launching ground as any.
As did Andrew Thompson and Allan Mottram....

Re: 2009 U 16s competition
i'm dying of suspense - the league starts in 6 weeks time and still no word of the league structure for the u16s.
why do the ffsa do this every year in not being organised until at the last minute?
