Vipers vs R/B Eagles.....Promotion for the winner

Post by kolobaras »

Saturday 20.9.08. St Clair, Pitch 1, Woodville
This game should be an absolute belter between these two newly formed clubs.

Vipers need to WIN for promotion to Div 2.

R/B Eagles to at least Draw for promotion to Div 2.

The ressies should also be a hot contest with both teams in reasonable form and an opportunity
for R/B Eags to claim Championship from Salisbury Villa if they can get a win.

So come on down to enjoy couple of great games, awesome bbq that the Vipers put on and
more importantly plenty of ales will be flowing throughout the day.
Hope to see you out there :D :D

Don't you mean Vipers need a point to secure promotion?

R/B Eagles are 2 points ahead of us in 3rd spot

Nothing less than a win will give us 3rd spot.

I must be missing something here, comets and villa have a 9 point gap. Clearly, they cannot be caught for promotion.
Things I am owed because they're too tight to pay up:

Colossus: One House

Costa: One Lunch

Oh and add in

On sundays it's the case because of Pumas moving to saturday. However on saturday I haven't heard anything to suggest a third team would go up.

IF comets go to the metropolitan league then the top 2 would, if not then only the top 2 go up.

As it stands, comets and villa will be promoted so don't count chickens just yet.

I think four will go down, but olny two come up so that divisions two and three revert back to being ten teams.

The precedent has been set that the relegated teams will still be relegated and they will promote and extra team instead. So, bottom 4 still relegated and they'll promote the team in 3rd place. But it's still IF

For everyones info the Red Blue Eagles are not under the impression of getting promoted next year as it stands we are playing for 3rd spot and anything else was to eventuate in the future then so be it...itll be a bonus...The ressies however are hoping to win on sat and salisbury's game to go RBE's way...if Salisbury loose and RBE win then RBE win the title, no matter of the game in hand... so VIVA RED BLUE EAGLES!

i think that's a good idea and has been suggested before but as I said a precedent has been set as to what happens in this situation.

Bomber and I also had a conversation on the number of teams going up (albiet for the league his team is in) and thought a play off of second bottom against second wouldn't be such a bad idea for a league of just ten or so teams. Without one Bodø/Glimt would still be a second tier team :D

The league said at the start of the year bottom 4 from Div 2 down, and top 2 from Div 3 up.

If Comets, once again a big IF, go to FFSA, then that would mean the next top 2 is Villa and 3rd.

When the play offs were first introduced into English football that was how it was. Div One charlton beat div 2 leeds over 2 legs in the first one.

or was it blackburn - google here I come.

EDIT: I was right the first time, charlton beat ipswich in the semi's, then leeds in a replay (after an aggregate draw over 2 legs) at st andrews.

Pumas should have nothing to do with it. They will go into div 4.

I think what he's referring to is that if there are sufficient clubs there'll be more divisions of ten teams, other wise they may decide to stay with the twelve team format. In Perth the upper divisions all had their fixed quotas, but one season the bottom team had seventeen teams. Not enough to make two divisions. Each team only played each team once.
