Was at the Modbury v C/town U14a game yesterday and congratulations to Modbury on the win. Oh how much more satisfying would it
be for you guys if your referee didnt resort to cheating to give the boys a penalty for a foul which was at least 2 metres outside the penalty
box to even the score and was confirmed by one of the modbury parents as being a ridiculous decision. Oh well these things happen and it was a scrappy game and modbury overall probably did enough to win the match. It would have been inetresting to see how the modbury boys would have coped had the game gone any longer with a 0-1 scoreline. i think with this victory they assured themselves the championship or go close but it does leave a little bit of a bitter taste in ones mouth when you see blatant cheating. its only a suggestion but Modbury should take a look at this guy, he's often the home referee at modbury games but he is a worry, to say the least.

U15B Salisbury v Adel Hills 2-2 great game played in good spirit by all players but some of the Hills parents have no idea of the offside rule and need to learn it quick before they go to Div 1.
Congrats on being 15B Champions.

Yes they do where they are allocated, but in this instance as happens at every club an official ref either
was not appointed or didnt show up. These things happen and i have no problem with club officials officiating
games, but in this particular guys case he seems to do every game i have been to over the years at modbury and he is bad.
He's not only bad he is very loud, obnoxious and blatantly in favour of the home team which his son obviously plays for.
Again no problem with that in general and most home club officials try their best to be unbiased and fair but in this guys
case no chance of that happening. Very poor form, very poor

redeye, have you ever tried lodging an official complaint? airing it on a forum may make you feel better but doesn't really achieve much ..

I too was at the game, i thought the ref played a fair game, and everybody could see that it was a correct decision for the penalty, Thats why no players complained.

Have you ever though about becoming a referee,Sounds like you know all the rules?

Congrats on being 15B Champions.
Hills people are too busy winning everything like the U15Bs and Senior Premier League to worry about rules. :D

No not everyone thought it was the right decision, i beg to differ, but hey if you say it was a penalty so be it, im not arguing with you its the way i and many others including a modbury parent who was next to me saw it. The players didnt complain because they have been taught to accept the referee's decision and thats the correct way to be taught. Anyway like i said the modbury boys probably did enough to win the match, congratulations to the boys they are a talented lot no doubt. I have referee'd many junior games when required and i always treat the game as if i were a neutral. Its very difficult to referee and to have parents on the sidelines complaining. Thats why i say nothing before, during and after the game. Airing my opinion on this public forum is what the forum is all about. People dont have to agree with me i just letting people know what i saw with my own eyes.

I have spoken to our co ordinator about the result and the penalty but i for one am not going to lodge a complaint to the FFSA as no parent has the right to do so. If the co ordinator feels there is a need i will leave it him. Im not upset about the result but dont appreciate anyone cheating to gain an unfair advantage. Its not the way we should be teaching our kids, is it.

Redeye - or is that One-Eye?
Let me guess, you must be a Campbelltown supporter...no surprise then you are whinging mate.
That was a clear penalty and if you don't think so, you need to check your referees handbook or make an appointment with OPSM because your eyesight is so bad.
So bad that you thought it was a foul outside the box, when it was actually a handball inside the box!
The Campbelltown player was in the box when the ball hit his arm, bounced on to the pitch and came back up and hit him on the hand. That's two handballs!
So how can that not be a penalty?
And did you not wonder why none of the Campbelltown players objected to the decision? - because it was a clear penalty that's why.
Have an opinion by all means, but get the facts straight. And when it comes to making libellous statements ("blatant cheating") about a volunteer from another club, you should take a long hard look at your own motives for doing that.
This guy might have refereed a few home matches for Modbury over the years but that's largely because other people are not prepared to take on all the abuse that a referee cops from the crowd on the sidelines.
That same guy has awarded penalties against Modbury as well, so like it or not, he calls the play as he sees it.
It seems Campbelltown supporters just don't like losing fair and square do they?
You got an official ref against Modbury's Under 15s on Friday night - and you accused him of cheating too.
Its about time you people woke up to yourselves and accepted that you'll win some and lose some. That's football.

How about this,

we send a pm to admin and get them to default the word cheating to "possible unforeseen error in judgement"

There !

If it was an erronous call and the team accepted it then top marks to them, if it was a correct call then top marks to them again too.

get the drift :|

Barney you are the proverbial peacemaker mate, you should be working for the United Nations no less.

Point is, the forum is about an opportunity to share opinions and views on a range of topics, which may not necessarily be accepted by others. That's fair enough. But to make unfounded accusations of cheating is right out of order.

Although a long time reader of the debate that takes place on the forum, this is my first time I have taken th etime to comment and that is only because the suggestion that the ref "blatantly cheated" was such an outrageous and misguided statement to make. (And no I am not the match referee in question.)

Redeye was obviously not in a position to see what happened. If he was, he would have seen it as a handball decision and not the "foul outside the box" which he believes might have occured.

It was a handball pure and simple and whether the referee is loud and obnoxious is beside the point. He made a fair decision that was not questioned by the players, and the spectators who were within viewing range clearly saw that a penalty was called for.

Accept it and move on.
