Yes well done Metro.Stacking the Reserve side with so many Prems players and even then were very lucky to come away with the win.Feel sorry for the Olympic girls who conceded only four goals for the year and losing their first game in the final round.

yes i agree congratz enzo for again stacking ur prems in the reserve team what about your reserve girls that actually got the reserve team to this spot didnt they deserve to play this game which i believe was there game to play they've work'd all yr to get themselves there so y not. i feel sorry for those girls who didnt have the opportunity to play and got shafted by higher powers!

and congratz olympic for all ur hard work and great playing it was hard but u girls stuck in there till the end.i think u girls deserved to win that game but unfortunatley you were defeated by metro and as always in soccer there only one winner.

There are no laws against stacking. Whilst it may be unfair every team can do it. The game was there to be won and Metro obviously used all their power to grasp this opportunity. I wasnt there so I dont know how much they stacked but at the end of the day the 1-0 win to Metro is the only thing that stands

there is such a thing as sportsmanship which obviously metro lack, of course gubs anyone can stack their team, but for the good of the sport, AND the competition, I don't think many would have, as they are obviously more humble and good sports than metro!

This argument comes up in men's soccer all the time...

But what you have to realise Karma10 is that the RESERVES sides (like in men's) are there to buffer the Senior team or Prems as its called in the women's game.

There is no promotion or relegation for Reserves, so in a way the results are insignificant. Granted its disappointing, but the Reserves are there for injured or returning Prem players to regain their fitness and match play... It is also there as a developing ground for new talent.

The fact is that the reserves are there ONLY because it is impossible to maintain the standard of a Premier team and give the competition some respectability without the depth of some 30+ girls which equals 2 squads.

I know this fact might not impress some reserves players out there... but thats the fact of Football all OVER THE WORLD!! It happens in all levels across the globe... Are Liverpool bad sports because Harry Kewell played for the Reserves side when he was deemed not fit to play at the higher level??? No, they're giving their players an opportunity to play...

These are the facts - like it or not... No rules have been broken, disappointing maybe, unfair no... Its in the confines of the rules and is not a practice exclusive to Metro by any means.

Campbelltown vs Cumby prems match postponed by the referee actually - ground was unplayable/dangerous.
Very disappointing not to be able to play the game actually.

Div 2 Metro vs Pink Panthers ended 2-2... which means Pink Panthers took out the league. Good game to watch.

Just a question I would like to ask.

Was there more than 4 prem players playing down in the reserves?

If there wasnt then metro have done nothing wrong.

Good point except for one small problem which is why then are prem teams allowed to postpone games if some of their 'prems' players are unavailable. As you correctly have stated this is why we have reserve grade teams! Hmm, maybe Sawsa should look at this fine point and hold clubs to this and stop these unneccessary postponed games!

Just a thought!

Agree with you 100% adelaidepie, although your point relates to a seperate issue, it is a very valid one...

Something for your club and its contituents to address in your Season Review to SAWSA, which was distibuted a couple of weeks back and should have been passed onto all members and players for comment. The Season Review is due back to SAWSA next Monday.

Joke. All round joke. Cancel the F'en game. makes no difference.

Season 2008 is floundering. The amount of games that are still to be played is not good.

So I gather the game was not decided by free kicks just outside the penalty area?

Would like to know: In how many games did "One particular team" get free kicks just outside the penalty box? Also how do you train players to fall at the right time and place?

The Competition Rules don't specifically restrict the movement of players between Premier Division and Reserves.

31. Player Movement

31.1 Once a player has played in a Premier Division game they are classed as a Premier Division Player. A Premier Division player may only move down and play in the next lowest division, being Reserve Division.

31.2 All other open divisions, a maximum of four players may move down in any one given game. Players can only move down to the next lowest division that their club fields.

31.3 A junior player may move up and back down to a higher junior age group and all open age teams, if age permits, except Premier Division.

31.4 If a junior age player appears 5 or more times on a Premier Division Team sheet, they are not permitted to move back down to the junior age groups. The player may only move between the Premier Division and Reserve Division.

31.5 If there is more than one division in any junior age group, a player that moves up to the higher division in the same age group may not move back down if they appear 4 or more times in the higher division of that age group.

The above is sourced directly from the SAWSA Competition Rules for Season 2008 and can be found on the SAWSA website.

No where does it say that the number of players moving between Prems and Ressies is restricted. The numbers restriction only comes into play for all other open age divisions....

For those of you complaining, why don't you do something constructive and give feedback about the SAWSA rules and regulations of which Metro have followed. Follow this link on the SAWSA website. You have the opportunity to fill out a feedback form as part of the annual SAWSA review on season 2008.

Dr D, you are correct. SAWSA does allow for player movement amongst reserve/prem teams, and whilst this is clearly within the rules, it is not in the 'spirit' of the game.

Sunday's score will stand, and metro will remain winners of the reserve league. However was the game won in the true spirit of the game? and will the original reserve squad for metro feel that there club has done the right thing by them?

both metro and Olympic were given an opportunity to experience a game where both clubs could fight for top spot. and whilst the rules do allow for player movement, anyone who was there on sunday witnessed a joke, where a club did not beleive that their original squad was capable of providing a good contest.

Luksa, im sorry you felt the need to withdraw your original post, i did manage to read it, and believe you provided some valuable points from a players perspective. you were asked by metro to help out this year, played most of the season, and have performed quite well as i see it. However im sorry that your coaches did not believe you (or your other team mates) were capable of getting the job done.

for anyone that wishes to debate the point of whether they 'stacked' their side or not, its just a matter or viewing the original game sheet between these 2 clubs, and seeing how many different names suddenly appeared for this game.

Lepski, your right, all clubs have players move up and down. but as i understand (and this comes from within your own club) you have only played reserves when luksa or your other injured keeper was unavailable. I dont understand why a player of your quality needed to play reserves comp, especially when Luksa was clearly available.

at the end of the day, metro has won the league, and best of luck to them. but i feel sorry for every metro girl who should have been on that park, but was not deemed 'good enough' on the day by their own club.

(and this issue will be raised as a suggestion to SAWSA, via the link you have provided,in the hope that this issue does not occur again, so that all clubs can participate in a good, strong and fair contest)

Finally, well done to all the Olympic girls for giving it their all!

One would assume its a reference to good and perfectly capable Reserves players being dropped to make way for Senior players at international level

Would anyone now like to slander the Olyroos for not playing in the "spirit" of that game????
