NO Serie A Coverage on RAI !!

Apparently RAI and Lega Calcio have failed to reach an agreement on the rights to broadcast Serie A or B .
Therefore, there will be NO Calcio this season on RAI.
I'm devistated !! Hopefully this is not true, or some agreement is made between them before Saturday.

Can anyone confirm wheather this is true or not?

Italian public-service broadcaster, Rai, has acquired the domestic rights for the 2008-09 Supercoppa (Super Cup) from the Lega Calcio, Serie A’s governing body.



Under the deal, Rai will pay €600,000 for all domestic media rights, including, free-to-air, pay-television and radio rights.

According to eufootball.biz, Rai is also interested in acquiring the Serie A highlights and has offered €30 million for the rights.

Setanta and ESPN will prob show 2 games each live every week.

Setanta this week are showing the Udinese game and the Inter Milan game. Not sure about what the yanks will be doing..

I'm not interested in results, I want TV Coverage.
RAI's Coverage was brilliant. 4 Live Serie A games a week, Live crosses to goals at other grounds and commentary in Italian !

Rai's tv guide says they will be showing Udinese-Palermo and Samp-Inter this Saturday night. Not sure about Sunday because the guide only goes up to Saturday. But they do say in the calcio section that it will be on every Sunday at the normal times.

No I'm not sure, But isn't RAI International part of RAI ?

My dad also told me that he heard it on the local Italian radio yesterday, that no games will be on tv or radio from RAI, because of their faliure to reach an agreement on the rights.

Rai International is a seperate channel from the normal Rai's in Italy (1, 2, 3). And then there are different Rai International's with their own program schedules. I guess we will just have to wait and see. Bloody hope we can see the calcio though.

I have my lovely 52" plasma to watch Calcio on.
I don't waste my time watching poor quality pictures on computer screens that players are the size of ants on.

there is a rights dispute in Italia now, mainly to do with Serie B I think...but Italians in Italy will not be able to see any TV footage of Serie A or B for the first round, including highlights..which is a disgrace.

Why do ESPN have to be such cu.nts, there's more Italians in Australia than Spaniards, but these bastards are going to cut into my La Liga coverage . Just gives me yet another reason to hate Serie A.
