yes they can..

DOWNS peaked to early in the season..the pressure is on them to perform bigtime. Pontians having nothing to lose. Go PONTIANS

Gully can hold their heads high today! showed they have good fighting spirit Vale didnt score till the 75th minute of the game ,then while pushing forward for a result we got caught out in the 80th minute . well done to the Vale ,good clean game, we had our chances, but have learned a lot out of this game !

3 out of the 4 correct.

Ingle Fram v. BOSA finished 1-1 at full trime and same aet. 5-4 win to BOSA after penalties.

Equal number of Saturday and Sunday Div 1 clubs in the semi finals, as one should expect.

Reserves

Flinders Uni 2 - Limnos 1 during ET

Cant believe we lost that game but thats the price you pay when you cant slot the ball in the net when its most important... found the previous cup games to be far more difficult.

that was an easy win for us on the weekend vs limnos despite the game going to extra time. this having played on sat as well. too many show ponies in the limnos team especially the joker who wore blue socks. the same guy missed a pen and was booked for what looked like dissent as he couldnt take the result. we even had 2 key players out due to injuries from the previous day. in saying that it was a good clean game.

I am not surprised that Pontian Eagles were beaten on the weekend... however I must say that I was surprised with the result .... I was actually expecting the downs to beat pontians by a greater margin.

My prediction for the winner is BOSA

Haha - did you inspire the A's for the 1-1 draw with the might of Strathalbyn - after you talking yourself up for soooo long you didn't even play - scared I reckon!

Pontians were not good yesterday, looked a bit flat but in saying that did create some chances and I thought downs first goal was against the run of play. Could of had a penalty when the scores were 0-0 and the downs second goal came from a calamity mix up between 2 pontian defenders. Pontians missed their 2 right sided players and that were they lucked run. Must admit if that is the best out there in div 1 sundays well we held our own and look forward in trying to get promoted to div 1. Its disappointing not so much because we lost but because we couldnt play our best side for whatever reasons and I know that the Downs were missing their leading goal scorer but you always want to play the big games with you best side and unfortunatly we couldnt do that yesterday. a 2-1 loss not too bad and as the TTG boys said we too can hold our heads high.

Now how good are you again?
You are the "key" player or one of two key players?
You play just behind the front two?
You play for the A's
Just a quick check on the SAASL shows you haven't scored this year correct?

Sound great to me!

The only time you score is when you play with yourself!

Now back to class the teacher is coming!

I reckon your coach made a mistake yesterday by playing that big guy upfront,
i think his name's Matt. Never looked like scoring apart from the 1 on 1 he stuffed up,
Both the Stavropoulos brothers that were on bench should of been starting b4 that guy.
Both came on to late and never really got into the game, even though harry won the penalty it
was to late. S.Paradiso was good for ya but didnt have much support.

Why was P. Stav on the bench, isnt he 1 of your clubs top goal scorers
this season :?:

Just dont like the team that is winning the comp, especially when they have the ability to get some of the best names in the Amateur league. Dont like Chelsea, dont like Downs..maybe next year it will be someone else :?

If we payed some of our players, recruited the best player, the top goal scorer and continued to beat everyone you wouldnt like us. Take it as a compliment i guess.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing. Im sure the coach would have been thinking the same thing after the game. Both Stav brothers had a decent run at the start of the year but most of our goals have come from steve who ususally starts on the left side of midfield. All coaches look for different things from their players I suppose he thought the big fella could hold up the ball better than the brothers but harry does have that extra pace so it was a hard choise I suppose. Im sure the brothers wernt happy starting on the bench and Im sure Matt was upset for being subbed. thats football.

The pitch wasnt the greatest either, more sand on it than Glenelg beach. I know it was the councils fault and that it has been like that for 5 weeks.

Hey uncle cracker do you think we would have been competetive in div 1 this year with what you saw on sunday :?:

Golden Eagle unlucky on the weekend mate, but Im sure it helped both teams no end experience wise! I have given some thought about what you are asking about being competitive if you were in Div1, I dont feel relegation would have come in but , Div1 is a big step up from Div2 & 3 on the basis that I know 8 teams in that league play very consistant soccer week in week out and are solid right the way through! Obviously if you were to go up to Div1 you need a very consistant As & (Bs for backup on injuries and suspensions) plus a good youth in the mix for the years ahead! Years ago I went from a Div3 side to the Vale for 4yrs the first year i learnt so much, fitness is a big thing, pace of the game far quicker! But this is the situation for every game of the week! Pretty big task to stay in Div 1 each year, PS Need $$$ like Downs to keep players too! All the best mate !
A TEAM OF CHAMPIONS WILL NEVER BEAT A CHAMPION TEAM!
