The "nominated by your club thing is ok" but as always, In have an alternate view.
If I am a reasonable player in a strong club like SM, Cumby, Fulham or City then I may not get a call up. Whilst from the other clubs, you might get a few players will get a call up.
There are pros and cons however, "nominate by club" does however, restrict the diamonds in the rough.

SAD GAL if ur coach cant see a players ability from the previous 15 or so games this season then they shouldnt be coaching premier league. there is no limit as to how many players a coach can nominate so there shouldnt be players who are good enough missing out
Re: W-League Trial Details
Hi Lepskiii
Nah. Didn't want to go and I will be a very keen supporter of the team, the players and League.
Gubs In repsonse.
A few years ago, sawsa clubs nominated players for sasi selection. was it successful? Maybe yes maybe no. Depends on who you speak to. Obviously the sasi coach didn't think so coz he picked them on his own and maybe, as a result of trials. This all changed year to year.
A few clubs weren't happy about losing that power and as a result, did not support state trials, sasi selection etc. Palyers ususally missed out coz the info from sawsa was not passed on.
I think its a suck and see approach.

As sad girl has said, there are pros and cons from being 'nominated'. One coach may see something completely different to another coach. Therefore your current coach may nominate someone because they see that player as being really good and the w-league coach may see something different and of course there is the other side, your coach think you are average yet if you attended trails the new coach may think you are a star. How do you give al a chance to show their ability to a new coach?
Coaches nominate players yes, but they should also hold an open trail as well for players not nominated and these should not be taken lightly either. If not enough time, hmm who's fault is that?

Anyone else think this might be another last minute job? Seems previous years were and it showed on the pitch when coming up against other states.
Re: W-League Trial Details
i think there is an open trial next week for those who werent nominated by their coach and who fancy themselves a shot of making it
goodluck to all those involved

From guess-who

Shall I say this, doesn't the season start in October giving you how long?
I also agree with Gubs, good luck to all, whoever you are and no matter how well you trail. Doesn't matter if you make it it's the trying that counts.

Re: W-League Trial Details
I was just wondering who is able to trial for the W-league. Do players have to be in the prems league to be considered? Just asking because we have a few really good players at our club but we are not a premier league team. Thanks.
Re: W-League Trial Details
In National League u come up against players who play for The Matildas and the Young Matildas. I think it would be in ur best interests to be from a Premier League club before u try out. Im not saying that u cant but I believe it would be in their best inerests to work themselves into a premier league team first
Re: W-League Trial Details
I'm not interested myself as I play in a lower division and only play as more of a social thing, but other girls at the club who play in a higher div have played prems before. I just wanted to see though if they were able to go for it, I think from this topic though it seems like its mainly prem players will be at the trials though. Cheers for the help.
Re: W-League Trial Details
There seems to be a some reflection back into the past National League. Adelaide Sensation was competitive most years, possibly helped by players such as Salisbury, McCallum, DeVanna, Madden,Stocco, Alagich to name a few. Highly unlikely that Adelaide United will have players like that to call on initially.
I do not envy the task the coaches face the first year, whatever they do they will learn from. (and critcism that will come from this forum).
I do go back to my comment some months ago now re being fit enough to compete at this high level. Hope people have not left this to last minute, and the coaches do not have to worry to much about that.
Some peoples comprehension of the standard that this competition will require of players has not been grasped.

Re: W-League Trial Details
Yeh thats the point I was trying to put out there. National League is a massive jump from the Premier League physically and mentally. Players selected will be coming up against opponents who play football for a living. If anyone has had the opportunity to play in a Premier League Cup Final then the intensity is double that as is the physical demand on ur body. I hope players realise this...
Re: W-League Trial Details
looked about 22 from what i saw. they were just doing passing and skill work n then had a possession game. i left after just over an hour. there are a few diff groups trying out so will be interesting to see how they cut ppl
Re: W-League Trial Details
i think you should have to play in the premier league week in week out to be able to try out for national league....
but yeah just my opinion...

Re: W-League Trial Details
she retried from international duty... she is still well good enough for W-League... also they will bring in some interstate players who did not make it in their own state... it is important that the best players get to play...uncle chop chop wrote:would di alagich still be able to play at that level. i thought she had retired or got dropped from the matildas or something.
