Downs seven a side 2008

Post by marooned »

Downs commitee last night voted not to hold a seven a side comp this year as the pitch is in need of a rest and make over. Any club interested in being part of a knock out tournament early 2009 please pm me with your contact details. Downs juniors will still be holding their junior seven a side on Friday nights.

Knock out comp will be a one day thing with BBQs and bar facilities open. Potentially team of 5. Small pitches, fast paced games. And prize money.

Perhaps clubs could enter 2 teams by splittling the first teams into 2. Just an idea. It all goes on the feedback we get from people.
So if you are keen let us know.

The hard thing about playing it up the top is getting the permisson from the council. Think the juniors are going to attempt to play it up there. The other things is if we did play it up the top, we would need to organise portable goals and get the pitches set up with them every week. And just getting the help to do it is very difficult.
Gonna have a year off and look at a few other options for next summer, when our pitch is better. Too many injuries this year in the main part because of that.

Just fill in the main pitch to bring it up to the same level as the top pitch then move a few trees and play cross ways so you can put an extension on the clubrooms and watch the game under cover and close to the bar :) :)

yeah junior comp is still running. Trying to get permisson to play on the top pitches, but if we dont, due to the cricket, then the little takers will not damage the main pitch as much as what the senior will.

Will be bacnk again next year no worries, maybe with a altered comp to try to generate a bit more interest.
