Post by Rexie »

any idea when this is being played? Keen to go and watch. Should try to get it at a venue like playford or salisbury under lights or somewhere like that.
I think my drinking club has a soccer problem.....

I thought he was good, except for the penalty. Well outside the box. Missed a couple but was in control of the game.

Well done to Gardens to. Would of been easy to show up and roll over but they made us earn the win. They had their chances to win the game.

Out of interest, which game do you think was higher standard? (I didn't see the Gardens v Farm game)

I'm glad you said it, because I thought that too, although the lines of the box weren't very clear from where I was standing. Overall I thought the referee was good. The Parafield Gardens player who was booked for the handball could feel a little hard done by after a couple of handballs in the second half whilst were awarded weren't given cards.

Lots of factors to consider.
  • The Farm game didn't have all the hype that the Bosna v Croatia one had leading into it
  • It was a reserves game
  • Gardens didn't have anything to play for where as both Bosna and Croatia did
  • I watched one as a pure spectator and the other whilst running the line
I wasn't aware of the league positions of the two reserves teams so didn't know what it had in store for the two teams whereas I knew the Bosna v Croatia was a relegation battle. There were several third party onlookers at the second game (I saw people from Vista and Raptors) plus both sides had several supporters which added to the atmosphere

Based on what I saw I'm surprised that Bosna are in the predicament they're in. Until the first goal they were well on top, but the Croatian was was set up by a brilliant pass.

As stated, the Farm v Gardens was a reserves game.

I thought the first 20-30 mins of the Bosna v Croatia game was excellent. Great skills and passing and a quick pace. The fitness showed through though after that time and there was a few to many long balls. Not bad though for a Div 2 relegation game. Shows how tough Div 2 was this year.

As far as im concerned (as a nuetral supporter with ties to both clubs) i thought Ian did a very good job of controlling the game, he doesn't usually miss a beat and is always very fair......

He has been an official for a long time now at both federation and amatuer level on Saturdays and Sundays and has extensive knowledge of the laws and rules of the game.

I think your a bit sore because you lost???

i was also a neutral supporter and wasnt there for any particular team. was keen to know the result tho.
i thought the penalty that was awarded was a bit soft, but glad others have also commented on this

Overall I thought the referee did quite well. The only thing I thought was odd wasafter the referee gave the Parafield player a yellow card for a handball (correct decision) one in the second half by the opposition was pulled up, but no card was shown.

I think that happened twice in the second half and no card was shown on those two occasions, which i felt was a little harsh considering the blonde kid had the ball kicked into his hand from 4 yards away.......

I think you'll find her ties are with a marooned coloured team.
