Will Emma not be available at all for this tournament. No one really seems to be mentioning her in their 'ideal' squad.

Who knows. I heard she wouldn't be fit. If she was fit she would be first picked in the team

This is probably the best way to go. If they want to get a team together asap.

Its exciting!

are you sure about that gubs?? Only because the Adelaide Utd Youth League trials were invitation only OR each club could send their best 2 players to get looked at... So your club had to nominate you...

I wouldn't be at all surprised if AU were doing the same thing with their womens team trials...??

Well our coach told us the other night at training. he said he had mentioned players who would best fit the comp but he also said it would be great if all of us went out

Well I think they were having an info session for Club Delegates and Club Head Coaches last night at SAWSA.... So I guess the correct information regarding who should be attending trials etc will come out soon enough.

They would not get the best players/team by sending 2 from each club, do not believe that scenario.

One would hope there are 30 plus girls with ambition to play in the W-League and are fit enough to get past an initial fitness examination. :)

I wasn't saying that 2 girls per club would be the case here. Just that for the Youth League each club had to nominate... In their case because there are so many clubs and only 12 positions available on the team they limited the numbers clubs were able to send.

The main point was that trials were by INVITATION or CLUB NOMINATION only... Not just everyone and anyone rocking up...

I think its reasonable to assume that in the case of the W-League, given that the league is going to kick-off in October (not far away) that they would want to keep numbers trialling to a reasonable level... Therefore coaches recommending their best players is a good way to go...

Also Zone this year you could only trial if you were nominated by your club... Again for the girls there was no restrictions on how many the coach/club could nominate, they could nominate as many girls as they wanted... But you couldn't attend the trial without a nomination...

I believe there is enough of a pattern here to support the earlier comment that the womens trials are by nomination, not just open door, all welcome sort of set-up.

Anyone who actually attended the meeting last night on here, is more than welcome to correct me.

At the deligates meeting last night, all clubs were introduced to the Adelaide United Operations manager and the new WL coach to give an over view of the program to come. All clubs were asked to nominate those players they thought are up to the standard required and have them atten the first trial on Monday 25th at Fulham.

This is soooo true
E. Grant & Co wrote:Leppi > Touche' I didn't think it would be possible either but threw those names in as a start.

This is going to be an expensive exercise, time we started to think about who and how we are going to recruit interstate and O/S players, because to be totally honest if we rely only on local players we should not be expecting any great results.

Now that's not to say we can't develop great players in time, we can and will but even the great clubs of the world buy in the best players they can afford, ie Chelsea, Man U or closer to home Metro Stars in the mens league, I know they have the money and the pulling power but it was just an analogy. I hope Adelaide United do the same thing.

Mike is his own man, so will take advice from who ever is appointed by the club, THEN makes up his own mind, and yes of course there will be a selection process.

I wouldn't go so far to say that Kirsty didn't make it over here, think she played for the state and for the national team, but yes now earns a nice income O/S.
