both games going into extra time and penalties, lead to a late night.
our game (fulham stirling) was a really good game. for the whole 90 minutes plus extra time, you couldnt seperate the teams.. both had gd ball time, good goal ops and good players.
im not at all upset about losing to a side who we battled against so tightly... if we played them off the park and lost, id be spewing.
penalties r killers, but thats the only way we could seperate the teams... well done stirling!
well done to city too!
after gettin home after midnight last night... im tired as!

perhaps sawsa should try playing the semis on diff nights, to save us starting our game at 9pm and finishing at about 11 20?

I agree with courts. It became a bit of a ridiculous situation when coaches were not allowed to talk to their players when coming up to penalties because of the time and not even allowed on the pitch to organise the penalty takers, and also only had minimal time when changing from normal to extra time due to the time of the game.

To wait two months to play a cup game and then have to squeeze this in mid week and finish at nearly midnight is such a shame for all teams and all players. The scheduling needs to be looked at. If it is because the div 1 / reserves teams have less numbers then so what! Play the games earlier and know there results it doesn't matter really.

The pitch was a bit of a cow paddock and I feel sorry for teams playing on this Friday night and again next week. I know a few pitches are the same but these pitches are regularly like this.

Just an opinion!

Sorry also forgot to say congratulations to Adelaide City and Stirling may the finals be a cracking one. To Cumby and Fulham take heart that even the best clubs in the world can lose a game this way. To all winners and losers from last night penalties are a cruel cruel way to finish such fine games off. Credit to all teams regardless of the results Football was the winner last night.

Good luck to both teams come September.

yes def should do it on different nights because for half the girls out there they had school the next day and i doubt the parents would let them play next time knowing that after last nights games they didnt get home til at least midnight......the city cumby game was a good one and looked very exciting towards the end of normal and extra time, congrats to city. as for the fulham stirling game i think i have seen the fulham team play better in their time this season but then agen it looked like they only had one or two subs so that prob wudnt help i thort the fulham girls had it towards the end of the penalties but dunno wat happened.....all in all good game n a congrats to stirling considering this is their first year in 1st division

Yep correct kyan_timberelli Fulham only had one sub due to availability, injuries etc. Still you play with the squad and the squad tried their hardest which is encouraging for the years to come as some of those players are really quite young. But as has been said congrats to Stirling they did the job and also as you said this is there first year in div 1 so excellent stuff from them.

the cup games show up depth at clubs in the prems and reserves, as the prems can't play in reserves, it shows up which clubs like to drop players to win reserves games. I watched cumby v city league game and cumby won 7-3 thanks to a SASI player who got 4 goals for cumby, they used a bunch of their prems as the prems game had been cancelled, just to win the game. bad attitude I think. if you can't win the reserves league with the reserves players, then train them better, this was proven in the cuo semi.

That's dissapointing Karma if it happened as you wrote.

Suppose the coaches at Cumby probably want to salvage soemthing from 2008. Prems have been a dissapointment and reflective of a one dimensional game plan.

i think it just proves you can't beat experience over age, when the pressures on, young teams often can't stand up to it over a long period

That's not always the case (sometimes it is), but it also depends on circumstances of the team e.g. injuries, availability etc.
Did both teams have a full side?

Seems like my comemnts have been vindicated. Why drop players of sasi quality into the reserves? Then again sasi do play the under 15 c's...(Any divsion lower?)

Me thinks I'm on the ball.

Karna are you with me on this one?

Maybe because people are fed up with your negativity. Who is saying they "dropped" them into the reserves. I'm sure the EX-SASI player just wanted to play a game of soccer and practice her skills, is that a crime these days?!?!

Don't just target Cumberland either, I'm sure, actually I KNOW, other clubs have done the same.

Oi

It wasn't my comment re: dropping players. Secondly, it makes no sense (and is disrespectful) to SAY THAT THE SASI GIRL MAYBE ONLY WANTED TO PLAY IN RESERVES TO PRACTICE HER SKILLS.

GIVE ME A BREAK.

No wonder the league, in some parts, is seen as one big social gathering.

Negativity? YES. The Matildas are not in the Olympics. Our Olyroos are shot.

We persist with incompetence. We are happy to let things go the way they are year after year. We have been having debates on the state of play for years. Who is feeding you girls with rubbish to make you ALL think we're all ok?

Neagitve? Give me something to be happy about.

p.s under 14's in NSWIS woudl not be under 15c's calibre. Trust me. I know.

I forgot you know everything. I thought the issue was with the age.. isnt that what you have been harping on about ..as a big factor ..i mean over age players playing 15c's ? but its ok for them to play 14s? regardless of skill level

saying the SASI player just wanted to have a game is a bit dumb I think, obviously she would have wanted to, but.........is it fair for a club to do that when she doesn't ever normally play reserves, it ISN'T fair to the reserves in both teams. especially the opposition, whats so great about winning a game when you stack your team with players who normally aren't in it...........none I say!

Are you calling me dumb?
If you were or are a soccer player you would understand that you would prefer to play a game than not play at all..if that means playing in the reserves then so be it. Once again I'll point out that she is an EX sasi player and other clubs have and do the same. I can give you examples if you really want. Oh and the other clubs do it regularly, why aren't you complaining about them?

Maybe it isn't fair BUT I know for a fact Adelaide City were planning on organising the catch up game for the premier team on a WEDNESDAY night knowing that 2 SASI players and an ex-sasi player would not be present. HOW IS THAT FAIR?
Soo Karma10, I guess Adelaide City are getting their karma! Excuse the pun

I wasn't going to bother replying, but the 'mud-slinging' is a bit petty - so here goes (to the best of my knowledge).....

For the last league game vs Adl City, Cumby reserves team was severley depleted due to players being unavailable for various reasons; state duty, injury, illness etc.
Therefore they simply topped up the team with alternative players - no reserves players were prevented from playing because of the presence of a prems player. (believe me, their reserves team manager would raise hell if any regular players were excluded or disadvantaged simply to stack the team!!)
So they were not being unfair to their reserves team players, and any other club would do the same if they found themselves in the same situation.

For the cup semi, some of these reserves players became available again (but only just). This meant Cumby managed put out a squad of only 12 players for the cup semi-final, which included 1 div2 player on the bench (who has of course played sufficient reserves league games to qualify to play in the semi-final).
This is not an excuse, Ad City won fair and square - good luck to them in the final.

Hopefully this just puts things back into perspective, I'm just trying to provide the facts so that incorrect assumptions don't continue to be used to support people's 'opinions'. If you chose to believe that what I have said is irrelevant and it doesn't change your opinion then fine.
Regardless, I wont be commenting further on this particular issue.

Fine by me Lepps - others may of course think that it terrible and underhanded having an ex-sasi player being dropped to reserves to help out (sorry, or should I say stack the team  )

If that game is against Fulham, well of course you can play no problems Fulham would be happy for that. Just as long as you have one hand tied behind your back, must hop for at least three quarters of the game and can not kick the ball unless it is backwards lol.

Seriously though these things happen and that is life, prems play reserves and reserves players play prems. As a coach and a player you beat the team that is put up against you regardless. Maybe just enjoy the challenge if the team is of a better standards!

pvfc, maybe you should speak to the prems at cumby, as the info I put on here came directly to me from 2 of the cumby prems players themselves. if a team is depleted due to injuries etc, maybe they should forfeit??? rather than stack their team to win. its called sportsmanship, not win-at-all-costs. the cumby players themselves said they didn't think it was fair they were to play (even though they wanted to).
